Title: Old Sod's Army-Brazil
Post by: bog on November 13, 2017, 04:52:23 PM
I see Brazil trained at Motspur Park. Can anyone recall a certain magnificent national side, including one of the best players ever, who trained at the Cottage prior to playing Engerland at Wembley?

Puskas and and his Hungarian teammates. They beat England 6-3 at Wembley. The first overseas team to beat England at home (if you discount Northern Ireland)

Yes it was the Mighty Magyers and Puskas. What a team they were. Should have won the '54 World Cup. In Puskas's autobiography he said that his team could not believe that after they had won 6-3 at Wembley the England side played exactly the same way in Budapest. And lost 7-1! As well know Bedford Jezzard played that day and
I think Johnny Haynes was in the squad.
