..anyone sitting up to watch it?
We won the toss and have chosen to bat. 093.gif
Any cheeky live links?
Watching on bt sport. There is an app on android devices but do so at your own risk if you have an android. On BBC long wave 720 or 5 live radio

Yes thanks... listening on Radio 5. Tuffers on atm. Survived the first two overs :)
Mobdro I think it's called
Oh dear. Needed cook to stick around
I will be pacing myself for this test with the first hour on the tele and thru to lunch tucked under the duvet with the crystal set. I suspect most of the time I won't last long before sleep takes over. I was hoping Overton would get a go but plenty of time. Cook going early is a bummer but I think right through to Ali we have enough on this wicket.
Wakes to a calamity and selectors being hung out to dry😱
England now recovered 39/1, Stoneman 15, Vince 22.
They just mustn't give their wickets away.
128/2 a good second wicket stand by Stoneman and Vince
Not too many advantages to working nights, that is until an Ashes series in Australia comes along, Vince and Stoneman both played a good innings, but Nathan Lyon is causing England all kinds of problems as we draw towards a close,
Lose no more wickets and its England's day any more wickets and it tilts towards the Aussies
England 159-3
196/4 at close. Got to try and get 350 plus.
Good start - need moeen to play one his innings tomorrow

Why do you say do it at your own risk regards to BT on Android?
I took it as meaning that watching it on your device through a dodgy link is at your own risk, rather than using an actual BT app.

Oh right got ya, I got BT Sport on my phone a few days ago for the Ashes & thought there was a problem with that
I think it is criminal that it is only being shown live on BT Sport. All sports featuring our National teams should by law be able to be viewed on free for view. I pay for Sky Sports in my package but no way can I afford £30 per month to watch BT Sport on top of my Sky sub.
following in the states with updates from the official site for England/Wales cricket.

Back on! Cheeky boundary to start bodes well. Think to be competitive we need a minimum of 359.
Moeen is my favourite player for England I can remember. He can take a game away from a team just as well as Stokes but rather than using a sledgehammer he uses a feather. Ball still travels as fast.
212/4, Malan and Ali standing firm.
Malan just reached a half century.
236/4
England 302 all out.
Australia 59/3 at 04.22 this morning.
Aussies slightly ahead at end of second day I would say
If we can get rid of Smith early tomorrow then we will be on top. We need to break this partnership, their tail is not as long as ours. The first session tomorrow will be crucial.

Smith is key wicket. He can get big hundreds. Need him out.
Don't forget that a draw at the Gabba has to be a very decent result, it'll start to play on the Aussies if we can get away with that.

Cant see it being a draw mate. If we fail to get Smith early tomorrow then we're looking at a potential big first innings deficit. If they roll us could be over in 4 days.
Bit negative I know but our batting , despite Stoneman, Vince & Malan doing well, isnt the most dependable
The batting can be fragile at times, we need both Cook and Stoneman to build a decent opening wicket stand in the second innings. All credit to the new guys, they all contributed well.
Some of their batting is weak, excluding Smith and Warner. So our opening pair in the second innings have to give us a solid start.
One other thing we have going for us, is that we have more alrounders and a better wicketkeeper batsman.
But our batting can be our archilles heel at times.
Agree it looks as though there will be a result, I was pointing out the obvious that the Gabba is a fortress. However, if we can get past Smith then they really don't have very much beyond that.
I think it was Botham who has declared this as the worst Aussie batting line up in modern history, even though ours is somewhat lacking too these days, it gives us a chance.
On a knife edge right now, I reckon.
Cook and root need to step up. Cannot win this series without contributions from the senior batsmen
Agree, and what a great achievement mentality and physically, to win at the Gabba first test, would knock the Aussies right back to the days of Ned Kelly. If we can turn them over in their so called fortress, we can turn them over anywhere.
Did Ned play Cricket as well?

Did Ned play Cricket as well?
Apparently in a suit of armour, and in between innings he robbed banks.
:005:
I thought that was Mick Jagger!

He never had the spare time, as he spent most of it retreading his lips, and purchasing Mars Bars for one of his ex girlfriends.
expecting quite a few rain interruptions today.
Could make it into a '4 and a bit' day test. Early wickets would help us, but I would take a draw atm.
Good luck England :)
It could be a low scoring game, so I cannot see a draw.
Therefore, we need a first innings lead, if we are to stand a chance of winning at the Gabba. As only once in the history of the Ground has a team lost when taking a first innings lead.
They are 213/7 at lunch. It's been a good morning Session from England.
Aus all out. Only 20 odd ahead. This becomes a one innings match.
Cook didn't need to play that shot
Steve Smith is the best Aussie batsman since Bradman.
England two down for 17. Hazelwood two wickets. Loving it.

He's excellent. Very unorthodox style - but effective.
Yeah he has a unique style but never looks like getting out. His stats are already amazing.
I do think it's all about Smith, I must admit.
This is going to be Jimmy's last tour Down under, let's hope he finally performs there.
Pathetic batting display by England today. Looks like they were playing 20:20 cricket.
Some very good bowling by Lyon early.
Credit the Aussies there, but there was some school boy batting for sure. We're going to have to go after Lyon at some point.
It's been a good contest and I have hope that we can match them moving forward. I think we were only a Root and Cook performance away from sticking it to them here.
Root and cook are critical to England's chances. Cook especially needs to get some form.
Also Ben Stokes is really missed. Why did he have to get involved in a fight?
Indeed. What a silly, silly boy.
