In Focus: Southampton to be frustrated in Fredericks pursuit

According to TEAMtalk, Southampton have been told that Fulham will not be selling Ryan Fredericks during the latter stages of the January transfer window.

What's the story?

Southampton, along with fellow Premier League club Swansea City, have been credited with an interest in Fredericks in recent days.

It had been thought that the Saints – who are expected to be active over the next 24 hours or so – were preparing a move for the 25-year-old, who will be out of contract this summer.

However, according to TEAMtalk, Fulham are ready to activate a 12-month extension on the defender's contract, and have told Southampton that the player is not for sale.

Fredericks has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Fulham this season, with the former England Under-19 international forging an impressive career since leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

What is currently happening at St Mary's?

Southampton have money to spend following the £75m sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool earlier this month.

The Saints have managed to get a deal for Monaco forward Guido Carrillo over the line, but  it is understood that a move for Spartak Moscow's Quincy Promes has gone cold as the attacker is reportedly holding out for a bigger club.

It would be a major blow if Mauricio Pellegrino's side failed to get a deal for Promes over the line at this stage of the window.

Southampton are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, but they have not won in the Premier League since the end of November.

They will host Brighton & Hove Albion in the league on Wednesday night, and the club's supporters will be hoping that at least one more new face has arrived before the January window slams shut.

However, it seems that Fredericks, who is valued at £1.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, will not be the player in question.

Transfer Talk: Ibrahima Cisse linked with loan away from Fulham

The 23-year-old singed for the club in the summer but has been linked with a loan move away from the Cottage

Ibrahima Cisse has been linked with a loan move away from Fulham by the Belgian press .

The 23-year-old only signed from Standard Liege in the summer, but has barely featured for the club, with Slavisa Jokanovic preferring to use his trusted midfield three, as well as Oliver Norwood, to the Belgian midfielder.

He signed a three-year deal, but reports in his come country have linked him with a move to Royal Antwerp.

However, it seems that the club want Cisse to stay closer to London if he was to move on loan - something which remains unclear at the moment.

Meanwhile, Fulham have also been linked with Watford striker Stefano Okaka , while Tayo Edun has been made available for loan .

Watford striker Stefano Okaka set for surprise loan move to Championship side

Fulham are set to sign Watford striker Stefano Okaka on loan, as per a report by Get West London.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is keen to get a deal done for the Italy international before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday.

Okaka has played for Fulham before on loan in 2010 from Roma. He looks set for a return to Craven Cottage eight years later if the Whites can get the move over the line.

Fulham are on great form at the moment and are currently in the Play-Offs. They are now being tipped for a promotion push, like they had last season, and they are keen to bring Okaka in to bolster their attacking options.

The 28 year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Watford this season. Their new manager, Javi Gracia, has come in and will allow Okaka to leave on loan as he feels they have enough options going forward. This frees him up for a loan move but it looks like he will be staying in London if Fulham get their man.

Okaka would be a great signing for Fulham. He is vastly experienced and has made just under 300 career appearances. He started his career at Roma but never broke into their first-team and had loan spells at Modena, Brescia, Fulham and Parma. Permanent moves to Parma and Sampdoria followed before he signed for Anderlecht in 2015.

He was prolific in Belgium, scoring 17 goals for Anderlecht in his only season at the club, before being signed by Watford in 2016. He has been a decent signing for the Hornets but has struggled to nail down a first-team spot. A loan move to Fulham would be a great opportunity for him to get some game time.

22 Y/O Fulham Midfielder Set For A Move To Scottish Premiership Club: Should Jokanovic Let Him Leave?

Fulham are set to lose their midfielder George Williams to Scottish Premiership side St. Johnstone before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month. According to recent reports in the Scottish press, the Saints are closing in on a move for the Cottagers midfielder and could secure his services before the transfer deadline. St. Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is on the lookout for some new additions to his squad before Wednesday's deadline after not tasting victory at home since September which has led to his side sitting just three points off the relegation play-off.

Some sources in the Scottish media are claiming that the 22-year-old midfielder is close to making a move to Scotland. It is believed that Tommy Wright is close to reaching an agreement with Fulham for the Welsh talent and his transfer could be sealed within the next 48 hours.

The Northern Irishman has made it clear in recent weeks that his team requires some reinforcements in the January transfer window, especially after the transfer of Michael O'Halloran to Rangers earlier this month. His side suffered a bitter defeat to Partick Thistle on Saturday which indicated how much his squad needs a new makeover. It is highly likely that the Saints will make three more additions before the end of the current transfer period.

Williams could be the first to arrive on a loan deal until the end of the season. The winger has seven international caps for his nation but has failed to feature for the Fulham senior team this season. He has fallen out of favour after returning from his loan spell at MK Dons in the summer. The 22-year-old made his Wales debut four years ago after coming through their youth ranks and his last international cap was in his country's match against Northern Ireland in 2016. The midfielder has played in 6 matches for Fulham in the Premier League 2 and the EFL trophy, scoring 4 goals and providing one assist this season.

It is clear that his talents are getting wasted at Craven Cottage and a move might be beneficial for all parties. The Cottagers are currently occupying 6th place in the Championship standings, five points behind an automatic promotion spot and second-placed Derby County. They have done well in the league recently and are well in contention to secure a playoff spot at the end of the season.

The departure of Williams could leave them a bit vulnerable to cope with injuries but if they can find a suitable replacement for the player, there is no reason why this move won't benefit both the clubs and the player. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Williams.

West Ham have £17m offer rejected

West Ham United have had a £17 million bid for Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney rejected, according to The Guardian.

Hammers boss David Moyes is seeking reinforcements after his squad was hit by a number of injuries.

With Marko Arnautovic, Andre Ayew, Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini all unavailable, the West Ham manager wants to sign a forward before the transfer window closes.

However, he also has set his sights on adding to his midfield, where he is currently missing Cheikhou Kouyate, Edmilson Fernandes and Pedro Obiang.

Moyes is short of West Ham options and running out of time as the January window comes to an end.

Reports claim the Hammers boss has made approaches for several players including Joe Allen, Harry Arter, Leander Dendoncker, Graziano Pelle and Morgan Schneiderlin as well as Cairney.

The Fulham man has made 18 appearances for his club this season in all competitions, scoring three goals.

Moyes is keen for his fellow Scot to join him at West Ham, but the Cottagers seem determined to hang on to their highly rated 27-year-old.

Fulham signed Cairney from Hull for a fee of £2.8 million in June 2015 and he has a contract until the end of the 2021 season.

Whether Moyes makes a renewed bid may depend what progress he makes with other players.

For example, if Everton are holding out for a fee of £24 million for Schneiderlin, as Sky Sports claim, West Ham may decide instead that an improved offer for Cairney may be a better way to spend the money.

The Scotland international would be able to slot in to an attacking midfield position left vacant by Lanzini's injury while also offering cover for right and central midfield roles.

Nevertheless, Fulham may still decide they do not want the player to leave and force Moyes and West Ham to continue looking elsewhere.

Stefano Okaka: Watford forward's Fulham move in the balance with Italian's future still unknown

Watford forward Stefano Okaka's proposed move to Fulham hangs in the balance with the Italian himself unsure of his own future.

For the second transfer window in a row, Okaka is subject of a late loan bid from a Championship side - with the Cottagers following Wolves' lead in August.

The striker himself turned down the Midlands club on that occasion, and he is still not entirely sold on spending the rest of the season in the Championship.

If a move doesn't materialise, he may find himself with some playing time at Watford - Okaka has featured in each of the past three games for the Hornets, and came on at half-time in Javi Gracia's first match at Southampton on Saturday.

The 28-year-old found himself out in the cold under Marco Silva earlier in the season, but always maintained there had been no falling out between the pair despite the head coach's claims.

But Silva was later forced to reintegrate his exiled forward with the squad when Troy Deeney spent seven games suspended over the winter months.

Odds drift on West Ham signing Fulham's Tom Cairney as club stick to their 'no outs' stance

The bookies believe that Tom Cairney will be staying at Fulham this January

The odds on West Ham signing Fulham captain Tom Cairney have drifted, according to Sky Bet.

The betting company were offering odds of 13/8 for the skipper to swap Craven Cottage for the London Stadium, but the odds have now drifted to 11/4 after the club rejected another bid for him, this time of £18m.

He was 4/9 to stay at Fulham on Sunday , but is now priced at 1/4 on, with the bookies believing he's going nowhere.

Fulham have been adamant all January that none of their star players would be sold, and have warded off interest in Ryan Sessegnon and Ryan Fredericks since the window opened on January 1.

Cairney didn't travel with Fulham to Barnsley, but Slavisa Jokanovic confirmed that he missed the trip as he continued his rehab from a knee injury that has plagued him all season.

Reading FC fan Johnny Hunt will walk from Madejski Stadium to Craven Cottage

A DEDICATED Reading FC fan is set to walk from Madejski Stadium to Craven Cottage to raise vital cash for charity.

Johnny Hunt will take on the 60-mile scenic trek in time for Royals' clash with Fulham in London on Tuesday, April 10.

Mr Hunt, a nurse, is raising cash for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a suicide prevention charity.

"Mental health is something that's important to me," said Mr Hunt.

"I know lots of people who have been affected by it.

"It's a big subject and it is a taboo subject. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45.

"One in four people suffer from mental health problems, if you put that into the context of a football team that's four players."

He was inspired by a group of Fulham fans who took on a similar challenge last year.

The trip, organised by Cottagers fan Lee Adams, raised more than £8,000.

And Mr Adams will join Mr Hunt, who will travel to the UK from his home in Wicklow, Ireland, for the return leg.

"When I saw the Fulham fans doing it I got in touch and said well why don't we do the return leg as a bit of competition," said Mr Hunt, 46.

"If you break a leg you talk about it but if you are suffering from depression or anxiety it is very much pushed under the carpet.

"I just want to raise awareness and support. If I can raise £3,000 I will be happy."

The group will set off from Madejski Stadium on Monday, April 9 and hope to arrive at Craven Cottage in time for kick-off the following evening.

"I might need to cut down on a beer or two before the walk," quipped Mr Hunt.

Kevin McDonald expects his Fulham team to deal with the pressure of being in the top six

Fulham leapfrogged Sheffield United into the top six and McDonald now expects his side to do everything to stay there

Kevin McDonald expects himself and his Fulham team mates to deal with the pressure of being in the top six after breaking into the Play-off places at the weekend.

Three second-half goals meant that the Cottagers leapfrogged Sheffield United, who play tonight, into the top six as they beat Barnsley 3-1, with the stand-in skipper getting that all important second goal.

As opposed to last season, where Fulham broke into the top six late on, it now means Slavisa Jokanovic's side are there to be shot at, and have become the hunted rather than the hunters, but McDonald has said he expects his side to deal with the pressures being in the top six brings.

He said: "It's one of them, if we want to get into the top six and get promoted, we need to do it, whether that's first ten games of the season, middle of the season or last ten games, we need to get in there and deal with the pressure of being in there, it's as simple as that.

"We're in there now and hopefully we can stay in there, keep our run going and stay in there.

"We knew coming into the game today that if we won we were in the play-off places, I said before the game and at half time that we needed to do anything possible to win the game, simple as that, we need to put our body on the line, as simple as that.

"I really feel that we did that, especially second half, first half we managed to grind it out and luckily we came in at 1-0 because it could've easily been two or three nil so we done well to stay at 1-0 and it was a big second half performance."

The 29-year-old was full of praise for two-goal man Ryan Sessegnon after the game, and spoke of his 'unbelievable' positioning.

Fulham discussing potential deal to sign Stefano Okaka from Watford

Stefano Okaka has struggled for first-team games at Watford this term

Fulham are discussing a potential deal to sign Stefano Okaka from Watford, Sky Sports News understands.

The Whites are hoping to bolster their attacking options before Wednesday's transfer deadline and Italian Okaka has been struggling for first-team games at Vicarage Road.

The 28-year-old, who signed for the Hornets from Anderlecht in 2016, previously spent time on loan at Fulham in 2010, scoring twice in 11 Premier League appearances.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has been at odds with his club's hierarchy over transfers this month, wanting them to sign a new centre-back, left-back and striker.

The west London club have already landed Southampton left-back Matt Targett on loan, while they are prepared to let Tayo Edun, George Williams, Cameron Humphrys and Mattias Kait out on loan, and find another club for Porto loanee Rafa Soares.

Stefano Okaka: Fulham presented with £2 million loan fee for backup Watford striker Stefano Okaka

Stefano Okaka has scored five goals in 18 months for Watford, but none since the opening day of the season. Picture: Action Images

Watford owner Gino Pozzo is frantically trying to get third-choice striker Stefano Okaka off the books - but is asking suitors Fulham to stump up £2 million in loan fees for the Italian.

Okaka himself is stuck in the middle and has little idea where he will be spending the rest of the season, but staff above the now departed head coach Marco Silva have wanted him gone for some time.

Watford spent £6 million on the forward to bring back to England from Anderlecht in 2016, six years after a loan spell with the Cottagers from Roma, his first professional club.

In the grand scheme of things, £2 million will not present a massive drop in the ocean for Fulham. But to pay that amount for a half-season loan of a player who has barely featured all season may put them off the idea.

Omogbehin: On The Front Foot
(http://ffcw001.azureedge.net/-/media/dsc_0069.JPG?w=622&h=278)

Fulham's Under-18s were knocked out of the quarter-final of the Premier League Cup on Saturday morning in their away trip to Everton.

"Up until they scored the second goal, Everton weren't getting out of their half," commented Head Coach Colin Omogbehin on his team's second half performance.

"We applied a lot of pressure without any real penetration, but we controlled the tempo and the possession throughout the game."

This loss came on the back of another defeat at Southampton, where the performance was deemed not good enough by Omogbehin. Asked whether there was an improvement, he said:

"I was very happy with the team's performance this week. In the first half the boys were getting up against people, being in the positions to deal with all their threats.

"Whereas last week I thought we sat off, this time we were on the front foot more which put us in the position to nick the ball and go forward and create attacks on turnovers.

"When we were building play we had people who were prepared to go and get the ball and play through lines and into spaces so it was a lot better all round."

The Under-18s are out of the Premier League Cup, however are still in the prestigious FA Youth Cup Fifth Round when they travel to Plymouth.

"It is all part of the boys development to come into cup competitions," he said. "To be fighting for points in the league, it is all part of their learning.

"So there is still loads to play for this season. Naturally we are disappointed because I thought we gave a good account of ourselves, maybe we could have worked their keeper a bit more if I am being critical.

"Like I said, I'm very happy with the performance the boys put in despite the result."

Fulham next host Reading at Motspur Park on Saturday morning.

Grant: Buckle Down

Fulham's Under-23s suffered their first league defeat in 10 on Monday evening as they lost away 2-1 to West Bromwich Albion.

"We deserved to win the game" commented PL2 Head Coach Peter Grant. "We were excellent in periods in very trying conditions, it was a difficult pitch.

"I can understand why West Brom play the way they did, they made it difficult for us, but I thought we created chances without really working the goalkeeper as much as we should have.

"We got a lot of balls into the box but the final part wasn't excellent, we should have seen the game out, once we went 1-0 in-front there should have only been one winner.

"We lost by two goals in the end, a set play in the box we didn't deal with it and it cost us dearly. I said that was the only way I could see the opposition scoring, from set plays and that happened with two of them.

"I'm disappointed by that, but there were some excellent performances in difficult conditions.

"Luca de la Torre was excellent. To be fair to the young boys, Jayden Harris and Tyrese Francois, I thought they were fantastic after playing 90 minutes for the Under-18s on Saturday at Everton.

"So it was difficult for them but they acquitted themselves very well indeed, great to see Luca playing, and also Marlon Fossey got 60 minutes in the game. So those were the positives, the negative was obviously the result."

It was only the Baggies' second league win of the season as they played a more direct style of football.

"They're a big side," he said. "They lump balls into the box with no fineness, and it was the only way I could see them scoring, the boys dealt with it well for big periods of the match. Unfortunately, at the most crucial time it cost us.

"The boys have done excellently for the last 10 games. If there is a way I wanted to lose, I'd rather someone outplayed us and out thought us, or created better chances than us, that wasn't the case today."

Fulham are back in action this week as they play Blackburn Rovers at Motspur Park.

"We will buckle ourselves down and start again, that is the beauty of football. We know what we have to do.

"Blackburn gave us a bit of a doing up there, they put us under pressure, we didn't have a few people available to us in that particular game and there were a few things that went their way as well. We know what we are up against, a very physical side that don't ask anyone questions.

"They put the ball forward and we have to match that. We will want to get the ball down and create chances. If we match their commitment with guile, I expect us to do well."

The 23-year-old, who is valued at £4m, has been capped twice by Holland

Premier League Swansea and Championship side Fulham are considering moves for PSV Eindhoven full back Joshua Brenet but may have to wait until the summer to sign the Dutchman.

Brenet came close to a January move from Holland to Spanish side Sevilla.

But the transfer has fallen through and PSV manager Phillip Cocu now wants the defender to stay at the club for the rest of the season.

Brenet, 23, played home and away in the Champions League for PSV against Manchester United in 2015 and has been monitored for some time by European clubs.

Watford and Fiorentina have previously tracked the defender.

Swansea and Fulham continue to be kept abreast of developments for the £4million-rated defender but PSV boss Cocu considers Brenet a crucial member of his squad.

PSV sit seven points clear at the top of the Dutch league and Cocu sees Brenet as essential to the team's title hopes.

Transfer Talk: Former Fulham man Ashkan Dejagah linked with Nottingham Forest move

The Iranian wants to force his way back into the national team ahead of the World Cup

Former Fulham man Ashkan Dejagah has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

The 31-year-old has been looking for a club since the summer, having been released by Wolfsburg at the end of last season, featuring just twice for the German side in his last season there.

He joined Fulham in 2012, signing from Wolfsburg and was voted as Fan's Player of the Season at the end of the 2013-14 season, but left to join Al Arabi in 2014.

Dejagah is in need of first team football if he wants to make the Iran squad for the World Cup, and although he has been linked with moves back to his homeland, the Iranian would rather stay in Europe.

Report: Fulham and Swansea considering late moves for PSV's Joshua Brenet

The PSV Eindhoven ace is a reported transfer target for Swansea City and Fulham.

According to the Daily Mail, Fulham and Swansea are considering late moves for PSV Eindhoven full back Joshua Brenet, but with such little time remaining to get a deal over the line, any potential transfer might have to wait until the summer.

Both the Cottagers and the Swans are desperately trying to bolster their ranks, for very different reasons.

Swansea currently sit rock-bottom of the Premier League table, and are three points adrift of safety, although they could vastly improve their position with a win over Arsenal tonight.

Fulham, meanwhile, are right in the mix for the promotion places, and currently sit in sixth spot in the Championship table.

The Daily Mail claim that both sides are considering making a late swoop for the 23-year-old, who is available for round £4 million, but they might have left it too late to complete a deal for him.

Brenet would represent a fantastic signing for either club.

The Dutchman is extremely quick, and plays with a positional sense that defies his tender years.

He is as much of a threat going forward as he is solid defensively, and he would surely turn out to be a brilliant signing for whichever club wins the race for his signature.

Fulham youngster close to Rochdale move

Fulham youngster Stephen Humphrys is close to joining Rochdale on loan.

The 20-year-old striker, who has made three first-team appearances for the Whites, all as a substitute, ended last season on loan at Shrewsbury.

Meanwhile, Fulham's George Williams is close to joining Scottish side St Johnstone on loan.

2 Deadline day deals Fulham should complete including this Wolves star

Two Deadline Day Deals That Fulham Should Complete

Fulham are pushing for a playoff place this season and have got in amongst it earlier than last season.

Another late push just like 2016-17 season could see them guarantee their place in the top six and perhaps even start as the favourites in the promotion lottery.

To ensure they achieve their goals though, they may still need further reinforcements between now and Wednesday night, with the following two players certainly capable of helping the cause and belatedly getting the Cottagers back into the Premier League, where they firmly feel that they belong:

Stefano Okaka (Watford)

Fulham look set to sign the Watford striker on loan in what is frankly a surprise move by the club, though unlike the main press, I'm not certain this is Slavisa Jokanovic's decision. Okaka played for Fulham once before, when on loan from Roma back in 2010 and he looks set for a belated return to Craven Cottage, something I think is a good thing for a club needing another striker.

Fulham have charged their way into the playoff places for the first time this season, arguably ahead of schedule in comparison to last season and the addition of another forward can only help their promotion cause. Okaka, 28, has slid down the pecking order at Vicarage Road with new boss Javi Gracia seemingly happy to allow him to leave.

Ben Marshall (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Despite keeping hold of valuable asset Tom Cairney, Fulham manager Salvisa Jokanovic knew his midfield may need some reinforcements and so Ibrahima Cisse and Oliver Norwood were both brought in. Despite these signings, the boss completely rebuffed Nottingham Forest's advances when it came to Kevin McDonald too and it appeared his midfield would be as solid as ever.

That midfield though extends into a three behind the central striker most of the time and it's in this area they have been severely weakened this term until now. For whatever reason, Sone Aluko was allowed to leave and the manager originally saw it fit to deem Ryan Sessegnon only as an attacking left-back.

Sessegnon has now been pushed forward though and is in rousing form as expected, though Fulham could always use more creativity given the way they play. Marshall will be a very good addition to this and even if he is not the first choice, he is still liable to get more game time than what he's getting in the Midlands.

Malaga to beat Fulham to Okaka

HITC Sport understands Malaga are to beat Fulham to Watford striker Okaka.

Watford striker Stefano Okaka has snubbed a possible move to Fulham to move to Malaga, HITC Sport understands.

Fulham were leading the race to sign Okaka after opening talks with Watford over the Italian international and were hopeful of bringing the striker back to Craven Cottage after he had a short loan spell at Fulham in 2010 when he joined them from Roma for the second half of the 2009/10 season.

A number of other Championship clubs had expressed an interest in Okaka, but it is understood the player did not want to drop down into the Championship.

Malaga have now swooped in to lure the 28-year-old to La Liga on loan and Okaka is expected to travel to Spain on Wednesday to finalise the move ahead of transfer deadline day.

Okaka, who joined Watford from Anderlecht in 2016, has found himself out of favour with Watford for the majority of the season and he is ready to move on in search of regular first-team football.

Watford are happy to let Okaka to move on as they feel they have enough cover in attack and that the big striker is unlikely to figure in new boss Javi Gracia's plans going forward.

Deadline Day: Is Tom Cairney still a Fulham player?

Whites captain has been linked with West Ham and West Brom, but is he still at Craven Cottage?

YES!

The captain has been linked with a move to the Premier League with West Brom and West Ham interested.

Newcastle United also failed with a £20 million move last summer.

Fulham fans are concerned that their influential skipper could be on the move today, but fear not, right now he remains a White with no bids placed for the 27-year-old Scotland international at this moment in time.

And the odds on him joining West Ham have lengthened too.

Insider: West Ham reignite swoop for top-six international maestro with deadline day bid

West Ham have tabled another bid for Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney as they look to pull off a deadline day swoop, according to a club insider.

Twitter account ExWHUemployee, who have established themselves as a reliable source of insider information surrounding the club, has claimed that the Hammers have reignited their interest in the Scottish international ahead of the window slamming shut on Wednesday.

It was claimed by Sky Sports reporter Bryan Swanson earlier this week that the club had tabled an offer of £18million for the 27-year-old playmaker's signing but that Fulham, who are sitting sixth in the Championship, had rejected the offer.

The one-cap Scotland international has made 18 appearances for the Cottagers this season, scoring one goal and chipping in with three assists, while he also has 11 Premier League outings to his name during his time with Hull City.

Football Insider verdict

It was widely reported throughout all of January that David Moyes was looking to add a midfielder or two to his ranks before the end of the window but all he has secured at the moment is a loan signing for Joao Mario. West Ham would not have liked to have left it as late as they have but the situation is what it is, and they now face a fight to secure any late signings. Fulham seem seriously reluctant to let Cairney go, and they will no doubt be looking for a hefty figure from clubs seeking his signing – if they let him depart at all. Still, you can expect the Hammers to have fingers in many pies on deadline day, making sure they have options for every scenario.

Transfer Talk: Galatasaray hope to pip Fulham to signing Watford's Stefano Okaka

The Italian looks set to leave Vicarage Road

Reports in Turkey are suggesting that Galatasaray have entered talks with Watford with the hopes of securing the services of Stefano Okaka.

The Gala hierarchy have been asked to make the move by manager Fatih Terim who would like a more diverse strikeforce to compliment the likes of Batefimbi Gomis and Eren Derdiyok.

It is believed the status of the transfer will be made apparent by this afternoon, though it would likely be a loan arrangement.

Although chances have been few and far between at Watford this season - he has only started two league games - his agent has been vocal about receiving offers from clubs in Ligue 1 in France, and elsewhere across the continent.

The Italian has scored just once in eight Premier League games.

Watford are looking to bring in a striker to Vicarage Road before the window shuts tomorrow evening and that could push Okaka out the door.

It was earlier suggest that Fulham - who gave Okaka his first taste of English football eight years ago, whe he scored three goals in 13 games during a six month loan spell. - were hoping to loan the player to bolster their attack.

English duo eyeing Celtic summer target Brenet, should Rodgers re-consider?

Celtic were linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven defender Joshua Brenet in the summer.

English sides Fulham and Swansea City are said to be interested in signing PSV Eindhoven defender Joshua Brenet, a player that interested Celtic in the summer - but luring Brenet to Glasgow is even more important than before.

The Daily Mail claim Premier League side Swansea and Championship play-off contenders Fulham are keen to land the 23-year-old, whose burgeoning reputation continues to catch the eye in the Eredivisie.

Brenet, who can play on either side of the defence and has been known to fill in at centre-back, was all set to join Sevilla this summer only for a move to fall through. PSV now want to keep him until the end of the season.

But they face a deadline-day battle on their hands as two-time Netherland international Brenet could be tempted with a move to England, if either side meet his £4million asking price.

However, Celtic should be placed on red alert following interest from England in summer target Brenet, and must match any bid that either Fulham or Swansea place on the negotiating table.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claimed back in June that Celtic were interested in Brenet, along with a whole host of other sides including Udinese, Watford, Koln, Frankfurt and Fiorentina.

Predominantly a right-back, Brenet has been used on the left side of defence mainly at PSV this season despite being right-footed. But at Celtic, it is the right side of defence which needs strengthening, as well as centre-back.

Mikael Lustig is now well into his thirties and with his pace decreasing, his level of performance has dropped this season. The Swede would be a much better option at centre-back, where pace is not as important, solving Rodgers need for a new central defender.

That leaves a gap on the right side of defence, but Brenet's willingness to join the attack, European experience in both the Champions League and Europa League as well as his pace is worth a lot more than £4million.

A must on deadline day, for Celtic.

Blow for Fulham as Jokanovic set to miss out on key deadline day target

Watford striker Stefano Okaka has rejected a move to Fulham in favour of a switch to Spanish side Malaga, according to HITC.

The Cottagers had been in pole position to secure a deal for the Italian on a loan deal until the end of the season, but Okaka has opted for a move to the relegation threatened Spaniards.

Okaka spent a short loan spell with Fulham whilst on the books at Roma, but the 28-year-old is not keen to drop down to the English second tier at this stage of his career.

The forward only moved to Watford in 2016 but has found himself on the periphery at Vicarage Road this season, with new boss Javi Gracia keen to move the player on this month.

Okaka is reportedly travelling to Spain today to undergo a medical and complete his move to Andalusia.

The Verdict

Fulham looked dead certs to pull off a deal for Okaka this month, and fans will be concerned that manager Slavisa Jokanovic will not have any alternative forwards to fall back on in the coming hours.

The Cottagers are in desperate need of a striker if they are to secure playoff football this season, with the West London side hanging on to sixth-place in the division.

With Okaka lost, fans will now keep an expectant eye on the club in the hope another top man is sourced before the deadline passes this evening.

What are we expecting from Fulham on Transfer Deadline Day?

Here's what we're expecting to happen at Motspur Park on Transfer Deadline Day

It's finally Transfer Deadline Day, and in all honesty, it's been a fairly quiet window from the Play-off chasers.

Matt Targett is the only signing so far, coming in from Southampton on a six-month loan deal until the end of the season, while Michael Madl, Ragnar Sigurdsson, Jordan Graham and Yohan Mollo have all left the club.

But what are we expecting today from Fulham ?

We've taken a look at the business that could be done at Motspur Park in the coming hours.

Incomings
The club were working on a deal for Watford man Stefano Okaka , but that looks like it may have hit a snag with his parent club wanting a large loan fee, while he himself isn't set on a move to the Championship.

While the club would like a striker, if that deal wasn't to go through I wouldn't expect them to rush into the making any knee jerk signings - the club are happy with what they have and are only looking to add that bit of extra quality to their squad to see them into the Play-offs.

Slavisa Jokanovic still wants a centre back, but that is looking unlikely to happen today, at this moment in time.

Outgoings
The club remain confident of keeping hold of their star players, with it looking unlikely that Tom Cairney or Ryan Fredericks will be on their way out today.

Cairney was with the club's physio yesterday as he continues his recovery from that knee injury, while Fulham will rebuff any approach made for the skipper.

There's been no developments on Fredericks since Stoke and Swansea were interested in him, while it's the same for Ryan Sessegnon, who both look set to remain at the Cottage.

Meanwhile, we could see a few outgoings in terms of loans, with Stephen Humphrys looking likely to head out, while Tayo Edun and Mattias Kait have also been made available for a loan move.

George Williams is also expected to complete his move to St Johnstone as well today, while the club are looking at ways of offloading Rafa Soares.

Watford player on his way to Turkey, loaned until the end of the season

Linked with a move with Fulham, it appears that Watford's want away striker, Stefano Okaka, is on his way to Turkey,

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 28-year-old will be loaned to the Turkish side until the end of the season, as Fulham were not willing to meet the Hornets' demands of €2m up front for the temporary deal.

The temptation to rejoin the club he played for back in 2010, when he was loaned to Craven Cottage from AS Roma, appeared to be there, but, ultimately, the prospect of fighting for a title, and the Championship side's reluctance to pay the initial fee means he'll be heading to Turkey instead.

Okaka is expected to fly to Istanbul later today in order to pass his medical and sign his contract with the Super Lig side.

Starting off the season with a bang at Vicarage Road by scoring a goal against Liverpool, the Italy international then all but disappeared from Marco Silva's squads until very recently, where he came off the bench a handful of times, even starting one game against Swansea on December 30th.

Fulham will look to Middlesbrough's Cyrus Christie if Ryan Fredericks leaves on Deadline Day

Fulham will target Middlesbrough's Cyrus Christie if they lose Ryan Fredericks on Deadline Day, Sky Sports News understands.

However, the Whites have not received any bids for Fredericks and, as things stand, he will be staying at Craven Cottage beyond the January window.

Right-back Fredericks is out of contract in the summer and has been discussing a new deal since December.

He is yet to sign and Swansea City have been interested in signing him this month.

Christie has made 25 Championship appearances for Boro this term after signing from Derby County last summer.

Boro have since changed managers, with Tony Pulis now at the helm after the club sacked Garry Monk in the autumn.

Stephen Humphrys Joins On Loan

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of striker Stephen Humphrys from Fulham.

The 20-year-old joins the club until the end of the season, and is eager to get started.

"I want to come in and score goals, get assists and play well," said Humphrys.

"I want to help the team as much as I can. That's what I've discussed with the manager, and that's what I'm going to try and do.

"The manager was interested in me in the summer, but unfortunately, we couldn't get it done then.

"He's kept his interest in me and I've had a lot of conversations with him and Brian Barry-Murphy, and they convinced me that this is the club to be at, at the minute."

Humphrys, a prolific goalscorer at various age groups for Fulham, joined the Championship club from Bury at the beginning of the 2013/14 season as a 15-year-old.

He signed a contract extension at Craven Cottage last January, before joining Shrewsbury Town on loan until the end of last season, scoring twice as he helped them retain their League One status.

Humphrys will wear squad number 7 during his time at the club.

Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Stephen!

The Club can confirm that Stephen Humphrys and George Williams have joined Rochdale and St Johnstone, respectively, on loan for the remainder of the season.

Humphrys made his senior debut for Fulham last season, appearing three times before joining Shrewsbury Town in January, where he went on to score twice.

Rochdale currently sit 23rd in the Sky Bet League One standings, and Humphrys could be in line to make his debut in Saturday's trip to Northampton Town.

Williams recently recovered from injury to score a brace in the PL2 against Reading at Craven Cottage, taking his tally to four goals and one assist for the season.

The Wales international has 17 First Team Fulham appearances to his names, and took in a spell at former club MK Dons in both 2014/15 and 2016/17.

Now north of the border, Williams joins a Saints side sitting eighth in the SPL, with their next outing taking them to Hearts on Saturday.

Transfer talk: Stefano Okaka's move to Galatasaray is off - Malaga and Fulham still in the running

Time constraints mean that the deal would not be completed before the 9pm deadline in Turkey

Watford striker Stefano Okaka's move to Galatasaray appears to have fallen through due to time constraints.

The Italian is expected to leave Vicarage Road before the transfer window shuts and Galatasaray were the frontrunners.

But the Turkish transfer window shuts at 9pm British time, meaning Okaka would not be able to travel to Istanbul, complete his medical before the cut off time and sign a contract.

Malaga and Fulham are also interested in the striker and they look to be his best options. Okaka is not expected to be a part of the Watford squad at Stoke tonight.

His departure would only leave two senior strikers in the Hornets' squad - Andre Gray and Troy Deeney - a similar situation to the same time last year, when Odion Ighalo's departure left Watford with Deeney and Okaka.

Middlesbrough right-back Cyrus Christie wanted by promotion rivals

Fulham will look to sign Middlesbrough right-back Cyrus Christie if they lose Ryan Fredericks, according to Sky Sports.

Fredericks has been the subject of interest from Premier League side Swansea City in this transfer window but as it stands the Cottagers have not received a bid for him. His contract expires in the summer which has left his future at Craven Cottage up in the air.

Fulham will move for Cyrus Christie if Fredericks goes today. Their boss Slavisa Jokanovic is believed to be a big fan of the Middlesbrough right-back.

Christie, who is a Republic of Ireland international, only joined Boro in the summer from Derby County and has played 25 games for them this season. He was signed by Garry Monk, who was replaced by Tony Pulis and it is yet to be known whether he is part of his loan term plans.

The 25 year-old would be a perfect replacement for Fredericks at Fulham. He is an experienced full back and is arguably one of the best in the Championship. Middlesbrough fans will not want to lose him as they will feel the best is yet to come from him yet.

Christie started his career at Coventry and was snapped up by Derby County in 2014. He spent three years with the Rams and played over 100 games for them. He moved to Boro for an undisclosed fee in the summer and actually scored his first goal for them away to Fulham in September.

Although this move is unlikely as it stands, if Fredericks does leave Fulham today then expect them to go in for Christie.

Fulham still keen on signing Watford and Italy striker

Fulham are still keen on signing Watford striker Stefano Okaka on loan, according to the Hertfordshire Mercury.

The Italy international looked to be set to join Galatasary but a move to the Turkish giants has fallen through. Championship side Fulham and also Malaga are still keen to sign him.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic wants to get a deal done for him before the transfer window slams shut.

Okaka has played for Fulham before on loan in 2010 from Roma. He could be set for a return to Craven Cottage eight years later if the Whites can get the move over the line.

George Williams has had loan spells with Gillingham and MK Dons

Wales winger George Williams has joined St Johnstone on loan from Fulham for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old, who won the first of his seven caps aged 18 in 2014 against Netherlands, has not played for the Championship club since January 2016.

Williams' only appearance this season has been for Fulham Under-21s in the Football League Trophy, scoring in a 3-3 draw with Portsmouth.

He played 15 times on loan to League One side MK Dons last season.

That was his second spell with the Buckinghamshire outfit and he had a loan spell with Gillingham in between.

Striker Stephen Humphreys also left Fulham on Wednesday on loan to League One outfit Rochdale.

Soares leaves Fulham and is set for new loan move

Fulham have confirmed that Rafa Soares' loan deal has been terminated early by mutual agreement.

West London Sport revealed on Monday that the Whites were hoping to offload Soares, having brought in Matt Targett from Southampton.

Soares only made three appearances after signing last summer.

However, parent club Porto would only agree to cut short his loan if they found another club to take him.

Reports in Portugal suggest he is close to signing a loan move to Portimonense, currently 11th in the top flight.

Fulham target Stefano Okaka odds-on to stay at Watford as Galatasaray deal hits snag

Bookies Betfair have listed the striker as odds-on to remain at Watford this January

Stefano Okaka is odds-on to remain at Watford, according to Betfair.

The striker was in talks over a move to Fulham , but was understood to not want to drop down the second tie and looked to be on his way to Galatasaray in Turkey.

However, that deal now appears to be off, with Di Marzio reporting that there isn't enough time for the 28-year-old to get to Turkey and sign all the necessary paperwork.

He is 2/7 on that he remains a Hornet this January with the betting company, while a move to Fulham is priced at 3/1, with a move to Turkey listed as 10/1.

Meanwhile, Fulham have terminated the loan deal of Rafa Soares early .

West Ham transfer effors over after extraordinary fee named

West Ham United have been told by Fulham that they would have to make a bid of £40 million to land midfielder Tom Cairney before the close of the transfer window on Wednesday night, the Daily Mail has claimed in its live transfer blog.

The Hammers were interested in bringing in the Scotland international but the Whites have resisted all offers so far and have now slapped an extraordinary price tag on his head, although they will reconsider their position in the summer.

And whilst Cairney was open to making a move to West Ham and the Premier League, it now seems that he will remain at Craven Cottage to help the Championship side with their promotion push.

The Fulham captain was inspirational last season in his team's run to the play-offs, bagging 13 goals and laying on 12 assists across all competitions.

His form saw him named the club's Player of the Year, whilst he was also picked up the EFL Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.

This term has been less impressive; a knee problem interrupted the early part of Cairney's season and he has scored just once in his 18 second-tier outings.

However, there are signs of him beginning to get back to the levels of the last campaign, with three assists in his last five league appearances.

A 3-1 win over Barnsley on Saturday, which the 27-year-old was not involved in, coupled with Sheffield United's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Tuesday, has seen Fulham move into sixth place and the final play-off spot.

As for West Ham, the club has added creativity in this window with the loan signing of Joao Mario from Inter Milan and whilst they wanted to land Cairney as well, the two sides are far apart in their valuations.

Hammers manager David Moyes will no doubt be hoping to complete some business on deadline day after seeing his injury-ravaged team held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace at the London Stadium on Tuesday evening.
