Title: Where are all the SK supporters this evening?
Post by: davew on January 31, 2018, 09:53:56 PM
All quiet on here, all I read is mainly opinions the same as mine which are logical!! A few on here think we are good enough that we won't be affected by our lack of signings, I hope you are right but I have made a list of names so that we can return to the subject before the end of March and I will be more than happy to say I was wrong if I was wrong!!

I'm not trawling through the many transfer pages to name those that questioned those of us that expected the club to match Jokas "let's get things done early approach"....
Yep, the same MUGS that will claim the respective  club wanted too much or the player didn't want to come.. Tw@ts!

If the right players aren't available at the right price, then they're not available.
I think the fact that we didn't sell better players than were ever likely to have bought, makes this window not that bad.

50mins to go and haven't sold the main 3 that where being touted around, RS, TC and RF. signed Targett. Got rid of deadwood.
Still think we need 2 in but looking unlikely now.

Where have you been throughout this months window (sorry)? Loads of players within our budget that we could have bought (well not us personally..but SK) or even got on loan, other clubs managed it!!! As for your 2nd sentence, I really can't answer that, not a bad window because we kept our best players, come on!!!

To be fair not much business from the top half of the Championship this Jan, just out of interest which players would you have signed that would strengthen our team, and could fit into the system we play?
Not being funny just interested that's all.

That is a very good point and I think I know where you are coming from...how many players in the top half of the table were available..am checking my records! My own point of view is that the teams around and above us in the table have a stronger squad than us which might ultimately decide who gets into the play offs and who gets promoted. As much as we scream and shout about Fulham's ambition in the window, there haven't really been that many transfers in total in the Championship, I am sure the stat's boys will quote the numbers and analysis in the morning and I hope they do!

Agree that other teams have more depth in their squads, but do think we are left with a strong squad but very thin.
And as I did say we needed a couple more in.
Just hope we can stay injury and suspension free.

News of 'boro's Christie being at MP and possibly Mitrovich being revisited as his 'done deal' elsewhere has fallen through (both from BBC).  But then I remember it's Fulham and so best not to think too much about anything until it is in B&W!

All of the ones I chat to seem to be! A lot of them are youngsters compared with you and me! Thoughts on our transfer business? Happier than I was a couple of hours ago, think it is fair to say that most of us were worried we wouldn't sign anybody, the transfer window was a bit like some of our recent performances i.e. managed to score late!

The Club have moved on several of the summer signings. Who hadn't worked out. Which gives power to the argument that stats don't work. We appear not to have lost any of our prize assets (still 5 minutes to go though) We have a left and right back (admittedly one on loan) who cover two positions, where one is being courted by top clubs and the other where the player hasn't as yet signed a new contract.
It isn't an amazing window by any means but doesn't it signal a change in direction towards a more focussed approach?

The jury have been re-adjourned on that decision! Overall (not a great window, but at the death much better than I expected)! Still no news on who we might have sold at the last minute so must assume nobody!

If I'm considered a SK supporter then I was still around dropping in reading everything on here last night.

At start of the window I said I expected two maybe three in and thats what we got. A full time CB would have been my preferred choice but i'm happy with where we are on 1st Feb 2018 given many people predictions before the season and even as late as mid November.

This window won't please the fans who dont like the owners. Nothing will ever do that until they sell and leave, the lines for that have been drawn in their minds.

This squad is stronger than last seasons now. We have more options and more players we should all be ok in seeing play.
No excuses for me this season in running out of steam.

Big Shahid Khan fan. Good window. Our squad is definitely in the top 4 in the league.

If there is one thing I have learnt is to wait for the final whistle, before making a judgment. I would have preferred the signings to be have made earlier but I am really pleased with what we got. Also, I am never comfortable with spending other people's money, so will never join in with criticising the owners for not doing that. Old fashioned I know but that's me.

Certainly a nail biting end to the window and on reflection this morning, I think a fairly reasonable 1 for us. Odoi is a huge asset to us in his ability to cover all defensive positions and is probably the reason why a central defender (which most of us considered a top priority) wasn't signed. Fredericks automatic selection for the team must be in doubt now, but overall I am happy with our signings even though at the end of the season we really don't have the foundations for doing well next season, whichever league we are in! Our stars will be sold, the loanees will be returned to their clubs and what are we left with, not a lot!!

Typical January window, everything is always done at the last minute its jus that ome posters on here don't seem to understand that and have o have a dig at SK.

Good business, good additions to the squad hung onto TC, Fred  and Sess (if SK was an asset stripper as some think 2 of these would have been sold) and cleared out the dross.

On that basis let's hope we can achieve promotion this season for everyone's sake. But there is massive competition from other clubs, and it really will be a dog fight up there. But we have a fighting chance, subject to injuries. But a fighting chance is better than no chance I feel.
Especially as we are on a good decent run of results. We need to put Forest to the sword on Saturday.

(LOL), I wonder if that comment will apply in the Summer? For the moment though, let us enjoy the rest of the season or if we don't win on Saturday resume our normal service (moaning)!

It was a decent window, the obvious concern is the number of loanees and what we will do in the summer but as others have said let's wait and see.
The Mitrovic signing was a smart example of quick pragmatic decision making.  Good job the opportunity arose or many of us might have all been rather less enamored of this window without that signing?
