Title: Songs for Saturday
Post by: Andy S on May 21, 2018, 06:19:32 PM
Going to Wembley

with a lot of people going who probably don't know the words to some of our songs I thought it might be an idea to publish a song sheet that people could print off and take with them. It would take an eternity to type them all out so please add

1
You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off you
I love you Fulham and if its quite alright
I love you Fulham I want to hold you tight
I love you Fulham trust in me when I say
I love you Fulham...............

2
Al Fayed woa woa

He wants to be a Brit & QPR is S***

Fire Fire Mitro's on fire

4

6
Slavia wooa Slavisa Wooa
He comes from Serbia
He's gonna murder you
Slavisa wooa Slavisa wooa

7
Shahid Khan the man with the Tash
Will take Fulham up and we'll burn the cash

8
Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner
That I love Fulham so
May be it's because I'm a Londoner
That I think of her wherever I go
I get a funny feeling inside of me
Just walking up and down
Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner
That I love Fulham so.

9 up your arse up your arse
Stick your blue flag up your arse
The black and whites you'll never pass

Don't know why we can't do "we're not Real Madrid". And just switch Shahid Khan for Al Fayed being the owner. It seems to scan.

Putney I love people who criticize other peoples suggestions and have no idea how to get the 38,000 supports singing. I'll  expect to see you on here next week saying Wembley was like a Morgue.

it sounds pretty naff already, at the Cottage or wherever it's sung. Similarly , singing Al Fayed in the otherwise good Take Me Home.....Craven Cottage song. He was a fine Chairman but 5 years have gone by since he left.

While I agree about the print offs, this is a pretty useful thread

Monday was my first time in the Hammersmith end for some years and I loved every minute. Every song. I've found them going round my head ever since but I too forget some.

Listing them on here is a great idea for those that aren't 100% up on all songs

My ones to add...

He's one of our own. He's one of our own. Ryan sessignon. He's one of our own

And

Mitros on fire. To the tune of the will grigg version

Also

Ain't nobody. Like Tom cairney

Any5ing that helps people get the words is useful. Sometimes they are hard to make out, even in the Hammy End.  If it takes songsheets, what not?

We're going to get so much abuse for this. How do people attend games and not know the songs? It's the same old tunes regurgitated for the last ten years, slightly changing players names.

Yep history is "pretty naff". After the final we should rename the Johnny Haynes stand the Mark Zuckerberg stand and Change our kit to something more modern like shiny silver jerseys
I think that you may have missed the point, deliberately or otherwise. Still, opinions are what make a messageboard.

Thank you. This exactly illustrates the point. As an old so and so, I have never heard of Will Grigg. But I can shout, and do, Mitro's on Fire. The Ryan F song is quite beyond me, words and tune.

How did you miss Will Grigg? Not a dig, but it was huge. It was the biggest football song of 2015/16 - all over the Euro's!

Al Fayed did take us home to playing at craven cottage in the premiership is that not the point,  or did i not have a season ticket for Fulham playing at Loftus rd? We really need a Khan song though something simple and catchy. one chant I miss is the elongated FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM when we use to take corners.

Andy just an FYI this thread has gone viral on twitter with Villa fans taking the P--S. Rightly so.

If we need print off song sheets for fans, I will genuinely give up attending football matches.

If someone has not been to watch a Fulham match, firstly I question how long they have been gone for them not have any clue whatsoever. And secondly I'm sure they can pick up songs very quickly by just going for few beers before the match in a pub where the Fulham fans will be, or just being willing to get involved in supporting the team within the ground.

We have already been mocked by Villa fans due to an FFC fan being compelled to advise fans we should take a portable fans as it will be hot, now this. This is not a school field trip, its playoff final.

Before the Derby game a rather raucous group of Derby fans were walking through Bishop's Park singing "You're the worst club in Chelsea"; a lone Fulham supporter turned to them and said "actually we're in Putney". Needless to say he had to endure a few personalised songs as a result...

You lot are too touchy about other clubs taking the p**s. All football clubs take the p out of each other and if you don't like it don't follow football. They can take the p however they like as long as we win on Saturday. Taking the p a human quality which should be admired. Learning to laugh along with others is another one.

As we have sold out 39,000 tickets and we only average around a bit more than half that many supporters for home games, I think it is a safe bet to say that not everyone will know the words to the songs so it is a nice gesture of Andy to include some of them here. Let's not be like Villa fans - pretending to be one of the big boys when we aren't. The Fulham area is a dynamic one which has seen massive socio-economic changes in the last four decades with the diaspora of FFC supporters spread all over, not just Britain but the whole world. That much is on evidence on this very board, with Fulham fans from all corners of the globe coming for this special family reunion. We need everything we can muster to take the boys over the line. So I say SING SING SING! your hearts out. If you don't know the words just make them up. COYW!!

"Night to remember" Shalimar - love it!  I have to say though I think that "Take me home" and "He wants to be a Brit" etc have had their time and I haven't joined in with the singing of them for years.  We definitely need a new song for Khan.  I'm not dissing our history, MAF was great for us but that era has ended now and we need to move on.  If I was Khan I would feel a bit miffed to hear them tbh!

NA NA NA NA HEY HEY FULHAM FC.       ( Na Na Kiss Him Goodbye- Steam, or Latterly Bananarama)

Yeah, "Viva el Fulham" was seriously naff. It was dreamed up by the press (Daily Express, I think) because we were playing WHU who had their bubbles song and it was felt that li'l ol' Fulham needed one.

As for embarrassment, when Arsenal were due to play Liverpool in the cup final the press came up with the dreadful "good old Arsenal..." Similarly, when C*****a were playing against someone who had a song, some bright spark came up with "blue is the colour".

All of the above are seriously naff so the embarrassment isn't confined to Fulham. As for AV - have they even got a song, even a naff one ? Not one that I've heard.

Anyway, why do they have to be based on pop songs of the era? They date so quickly whereas things like Goodnight Irene, Fields of Athenry, even Too Good to be True stand the test of time.

They're so rugger.

Personally, I think the Take Me Home Al fayd is still valid, an important part of our history - for a club that has a few times looked in danger of losing it's historic home, and has actually  done so well to still be there, when you consider the forces ranged aginst that.

And Al fayed did take us home, after a spell at Lofts Road, when it was rumoured he would take us somewhere else. He gave in to the fans.

That song is like You'll never walk Alone for Liverpol, because is  says passionately what we feel about our club and our  ground - our spiritual as well as physical home.

Here is an example of our magnificent fans' passion, which I expect ten fold tomorrow -

Either of the England Rugby songs

"Swing Low Sweet Chariot' or "Jerusalem"

Should get some attanetion and perhaps media attention

Why would we sing these?

Shall we sing 'don't look back in anger' like Villa sang when they beat birmingham if we win tomorrow??

In the higher tier, I was hearing different songs from different areas of the whitewhall, all sounded great.  God knows what all that yippee kayyee nonsense was from Villa but sounded embarrassing to me.  Perhaps it has some deep & meaningful background that was lost on me?  I was getting flashbacks to cub camp.

Here's a new song which hope others might enjoy. Will still work in the Premiership next season. Apologies to players missed out because author couldn't find rhyme.

Route 66 To Fulham       by Richard Heller

Now if you want to see a soccer fest
Go to Craven
You'll be ravin':
We're the best.
Get your kicks
In SW6.

We can prove it any day and any night,
The facts are right out there in black and white
Get your kicks
In SW6.

Get the fans to Fulham
We know how to pull 'em.
Watch a Cairney pass barely kiss the grass.
And there's Johansen,
Never giving up the chase.
Left or right, you'll see a Ryan,
Past the full-back he'll be flyin':
A perfect cross – and Mitrović has scored!

See these names play all their magic games
Beside that ever-rolling river Thames:
Get your kicks
In SW6.

Down at Craven Cottage
We turn up the wattage:
You can see Tim Ream playing like a dream
While Kevin McDonald
Holds it all together.
From Manchester to Margate
Matt will find the Targett:
A perfect cross – and Mitrović has scored!

See these names play all their magic games
Beside that ever-rolling river Thames:
Get your kicks
In SW6

From Edinburgh to Esher
We all love Slaviša.
Denis Odoi
Always gives us joy.
And there's Bettinelli
In the right place again.
He throws the ball out neatly,
Straight to Floyd Ayité:
A lightning break – and Mitrović has scored!

See these names play their magic games
Beside that ever-rolling river Thames
Get your kicks
In SW6.
