His profile on the club website says: "comfortable operating anywhere on the left, either as a full-back or wide midfielder" but I always thought he was more of a defensive midfielder. I've only watched a couple of PL2 games but as far as I can remember he never played as a full back or winger???
Can anyone shed some light on this?
He's played all those positions from time to time. Problem for me is we haven't found his best one yet, which I think will be as a central midfielder.

He has mostly played a more defensive midfield role for the England age-group sides.
He mostly played there, behind Ryan, in the u20 Euro win last year and did so very well.
He has a high work rate so gets around quite a bit.
One thing maybe needs looking at: he has been sent off three times whilst playing for England.
