Post by: Rhys Lightning 63 on July 18, 2018, 02:43:59 PM
Fulham have been drawn in Group F alongside Oxford Utd, Northampton Town & Wycombe Wanderers.

All games are away ties for the Whites

And just like last year, it appears I'm the only one who cares.

No I'm definitely doing Oxford. Been desperate for us to get them in the cup for years. Looks like I'll have to make do with the Checkatrade instead

It also seems to be the only thing you care about

Can get to the Wycombe and Oxford games but the Northampton one is a bit far to get to after work from Aldershot.

I'm in Ash Vale so I'm making the same journey. Catch you there

That's unfair. Over many years Rhys has made sensible comments on a range of subjects.

That was the agreement when academy sides signed up, compromise sort of thing

Bit of a flippant thing to say. You left 1 hour between your post and your reply to imply no one cared.
The cup is designed (for the bigger teams) to showcase and focus on youth development. It shouldn't be used by us to give reserve players a game. We gave games to Mollo, Soares, Graham and Madl last season. What's the point in that? If it was our best youth players then I'd be all for it, but not if it's a mix of unwanted players just wanting to get the rust off. If the club want to make it a big focus, or if fans want to big it up, fair enough, but use it for a proper focus rather than using it to give loanees a game for the fun of it.
Personally i reckon our best youth players should be on loan in league 1 bar Rodak, and maybe ORiley given a chance in the championship . 3 games in the checkatrade trophy does nothing compared to the likes of Adebayo and Humphrys getting full seasons in lower leagues, in my opinion.
