Title: How many of us on here ?
Post by: Fulham1959 on October 30, 2018, 05:49:52 PM
How many of us on here :

1. Were pleased and excited at the outcome of this summer's transfer window ?

2.  Would have been gutted  had Slavisa been 'poached' in the summer ?

It's been a tough couple of months but I'm willing to wait and see what the rest of 2018 brings.  Trouble is, we overreact when things are going well and do just the same when things are going poorly.  A little more rational thinking would be nice and, yes, some on here are still capable of that.  All of us know that there are constant ups and downs when you follow any non-Top 6 football club.

If you stand still you get overtaken, currently Fulham arent even standing still, we are reversing  back to where we have just come from.
Of course we can go to Man City and cause an upset, that's football. We can go to Huddersfield and mug them of three points, it's a funny old game.
But even if we achieve these two wins.
It's going to take far more than one or two good results to stem the tide.
Jok is I assume trying to get his own act together, whilst trying to orchestrate the players and team to get there act together, which will not happen overnight.
Too much apathy and acceptance that we have to accept mediocrity.
Well for a start there are millions and millions and millions and millions of pounds at stake.
As well as very expensive players with high maintenance being left on the sidelines to depreciate.
We have to remember we are no longer in the 4th tier of English Football, we are in the top tier, where they take no prisoners, It's unforgiving, survival of the fittest, dog eat dog, to sustain being a member of the top Division you have to have ambition.
We appear to be in a right two and eight on the field of play. That will not be resolved at a drop of a hat, if Jok doesn't know that, it's time he did.
If there is any ounce of truth in the rumours and gossip and assumptions that there is an air of divide, hostility and discord in the camp.
Then the fracture caused by various reasons will not mend itself.

Obviously we are all upset its been a really poor start to the season most notably the back line has been a shambles. KM TR and SJ although had fantastic seasons last year IMO do not have the pace or technique to compete at this level.

Without TC the system SJ employs breaks down. He was the kingpin during our 23 game unbeaten run all pay went through him. This is not apparent during the first 10 games i have seen this year.

we spent half our transfer budget on 2 players. One has hardly played and had an absolute shocker vs Watford apparently he had flu. The other was suppossrd to be a defensive mid an upgrade to KM sitting in front of the backline but what i have seen of anguissa suggests otherwise.

Then again we could have lost the final lost half our team and the gaffer and be doing a Villa currently sitting 17th in the championship.

I know where i would rather be even though some of the play this season has been shocking. Defending that even your social Sunday 2XI gaffer would bollock you for which u pay a sub to play not play to get paid.

Yes to both of your questions.

How long are you prepared to wait for though?

Do we wait until we are the lowest team in the league or do we wait until we are  6 points adrift of safety?

Both options would make me uncomfortable as even the best managers would struggle to get us out of that situation.

Please don't take this as a flippant response, I am genuinely curious as to what point you (and others) think it is too late for us to turn things around.

Not every Fulham supporter visits this site. Not every Fulham supporter thinks the same way as the moaning Minnie's on here. People think it is representative of the majority of supporters but it isn't. Some will not mind relegation some will hurt a lot. For me I think it shows just how big the gap now is between the championship and the premiership. Wembley was brilliant in the summer but now is reality

Time doesn't stand still. What I was capable of doing once I am no longer capable of doing. What Fulham did last year they are not capable of doing so far this year.  Last year we had a coach with arguably the best squad, playing football that was close to the very best in the division. We scraped promotion via the play offs after a record run of success.

How long are we willing to wait? Until the players learn how to not play without covering each other. How to play with a bit of intelligence. Learn to pass the ball to a team mate. Learn not to give the ball away cheaply. Learn not to fall over.

How many of us on here were happy when things were going well? How many are happy now we look embarrassing?

There is no point in yesterday when today looks shattered and we fear for tomorrow. Hope is fine. It makes failure feel better.

All I keep seeing on here is "have we got short memories". We had a fantastic end to the season, but this is the point it was last season, this is what's happening this season, things change, personnel change, new players, coaches, whatever, this what we have to deal with now, not what happened last season.

In reality we have had a very bad start to the season and yet we are only 3 points of West Ham who are in 13th!!

regarding Q1
i was excited but to be fair had not heard of most of them and as such assumed, without kline, we knew what we were doing even if the signings were much much to late in the day. it transpires we do not have a sesible recruitment policy, no class full backs, bryan is just OK and not fit... no physical midfielder, and too many apparent prima donnas. i do like serri though he will be brilliant once the team settles

Q2
i absolutely wanted slava to be our manager but he is failing on a spectacular level. if the signings were his, maybe he should go now, if they were dropped on him then it is not entirely his fault. whatever he is not doing a good job because as aminimum we should be oranised and have at least the makings of a settled side. we make to many changes to personnel and formation game after game and it is now november!  his days are really numbered, i hope he turns it round but i support the club not the individulas.

The amount spent showed ambition. I had doubts about the amount paid for Anguissa, what Schurrle had left in the tank with the body condition of a 35 year old, the high number of loans, the amount of unproven (in the PL) players, and one or two signings which just seemed pointless, but I'll admit my positive feelings about the amount spent took precedence over most of that at the time. However I was vocal even at the time about how late the deals were completed and I still believe that is the biggest cause of our current situation.

1. A bit divided. I was definitely excited (especially about Seri) but I also thought it was too little and far too late to be ready for the season.

2. Yes, I would have been gutted. Now I'm not so sure if Joka is our best long term option but I think he should be given the January window to make the necessary adjustments. I would rather be relegated than go for a Big Sam kind of manager at this point.

From watching this year we can't even do the basics anywhere near EFL standard and that is down to players not coaches as the basics Sunday footballers do them every week .
Slav if he hasn't pulled it round by Xmas I think he will walk away.

1. Were pleased and excited at the outcome of this summer's transfer window ? Yes, if anything it was 3 or 4 players more than i expected and a good £30M more than I expected to spend. From what I know the decision was made late on to spend more money as a couple of the 'later' players we signed had previously been made totally unavailable.

2.  Would have been gutted  had Slavisa been 'poached' in the summer ? If there is anyone who says no to that then they need their head examined

Yes to both. I still hope he can turn it around.

Yes to both.

Really bad start. I cant see us getting worse only better. There are teams around us playing to their full potential. I'd be more worried about the season if I were a Cardiff supporter.

My head is still in the clouds after personally witnessing our great Wembley win.Even if we do not win another game this year the euphoria from that day will remain with me!

As I said when we had one of several million debates over Kit. I will back the manager of the club completely until the Chairman changes him, then I will back the new man etc ad infinitum.

For me it's that simple. I was excited by the window, worried about the large number of deadline day signings. Would have been devestated if Slav had left.

Well, according to the official 2018 calendar, the rest of the year will bring you Kebano and Kamara, which isnt too bad considering Octobers posterboys were Rui Fonte and Ibra Cisse
