Yes, it's really sad.

He brought the second best football I've ever seen from Fulham.

Thanks so much Slavisa -I'll always remember that day at Wembley, watching Fulham under you the last two season was such a joy.

Ranieri....hmmm.

My hope at the start of this season was that Slav would still be manager at the end of the season as that would have meant we had had a successful 2018/19. Not to be.

Thanks Slav. Made it enjoyable to watch FFC again. It was great fun whilst it lasted & wish you all the best for the future

As others have said. It's a shame. Slavisa has done a great job, especially when Mr Kline was running the show.  So thanks Slavisa for everything and for giving me one of my most enjoyable days as a Fulham supporter in 60 years of watching. Good luck to Claudio although we should remember he was the original "tinker man" Fingers crossed  for FFC and hopefully Slavisa will get another chance.

Horrible and stupid decision imo. Not that I think Ranieri is a bad coach (the contrary actually), but was sure that Joka would have turned it around.

I know that I will watch the Southampton game, and cheer for Fulham as always, but right now I feel like it doesn't matter anymore. Joka's team is no more. They were the most enjoyable Fulham team I have watched frequently (the promotion campaign under Tigana was rarely televised in Sweden).

Thanks for everything Slavisa, you deserved much more.

Have to admit I am a little shocked, the football world can be be very cruel at times, as I thought the Club would give him a little longer under the circumstances.
I suppose when he got the dreaded vote of confidence from the Chairman, that was the signal that the writing was on the wall, and something was impending.
It is sad and a real shame.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Slavisa for his hard work, and to give me the opportunity to return to Wembley last May, and give my family and I one of the best days of my footballing life.

I will fondly remember all the positives, Slavisa, and treat the negatives as the shrapnel football delivers, whoever is head coach.  Thank you for showing us a brand of football which is all too absence from the English game, emboldened by your hard work and commitment to making FFC great again.  You will be missed.

He's in my book of great Fulham managers. He'll go on to better things. Can't help but feel disappointed, can't think of anybody I wanted to see turn things around more than Slavisa and I think he would of done.

Not just thanks but a hundred thanks, not only for that wonderful day last May but also for the way we played. I suppose it was inevitable that this had to happen but that does not take away my respect for SJ.

Lastly, welcome Claudio.

Feel a tad upset about this news. I was hoping he would replicate the last two seasons with us where he had got off to a slow start. Not entirely sure this is the best decision to sack him, but also feel glad that its Ranieri we got rather than Moyes or Allardyce.

Slav did brilliantly for us - for the last 2 seasons we played as good football as we did since the Tigana days. Absolute legend and will always have my thanks - shall never forget the unbeaten run and the day at Wembley for the rest of my life. Will always be welcome back at the Cottage IMO. Sad to see him go.

Chairmans comment on the Beeb.
"I wasn't anticipating having to make this announcement related to Slavisa and wish the circumstances were such that I didn't have to, but our path this season has led me to make what I know is the correct decision, at the right time, for our players, the club and our supporters," added Khan.

"Slavisa will always have my appreciation and respect for everything he did to return Fulham to top-flight football.

"I am hoping everyone in the Fulham family shares my heartfelt sentiments for Slavisa and joins me in wishing him success and good fortune, wherever his next stop may be."

Will always be a hero for the way we turned last season into one of the best seasons we have ever had. But I didn't see any improvement this season and we seemed to be going backwards despite 45 minutes against Liverpool. So thank you for all you did. Good luck to the new man. Whatever happens.

Totally agree.  Very disappointed in this decision.  The impatience of life in football nowadays.  Ferguson had a couple of lousy seasons when he took over at ManU.  Look how that turned out when they stuck with him.

Don't agree with this. They are our best players and Ranieri will quickly see that so I expect them to be starters. From their perspective they will now be playing for a highly experienced coach who has won the Premier League, why would this not be attractive to them and inspire performances? Mitro in particular is our top scorer and a very good international striker, no reason why Ranieri wouldn't start him every game.

I'm the first to say that I have been a critic of you these last few weeks, however you will be remembered and welcomed back at Fulham for years to come.

The sequence of unbeaten matches you gave us will be wrtitten into the history books, as will our victory at Wembley.

I think everyone is agreed that we're sorry with how things in the premiership started, but I can see you making yet another Championship side very happy.

Thank you and good luck Slav.

Thanks for everything Slav, your achievements over the past 2 years will never die in the eyes of Fulham fans worldwide. You got us, Fulham, to win a final at Wembley. Take a bow, you will be missed.

Welcome Ranieri. If you become half as loved as Slav then we will be in the Premier League next season.

CR will have been watching videos and have a fair handle on the players; he now has two weeks' training with them. Let's hope that he can rebuild morale.

SJ must have known that talks were going on and one wonders what would have happened if we'd got, say, a 2-2 draw at Liverpool which wasn't beyond the bounds of possibility.

I suppose he didn't take training yesterday and that CR takes over today.

As far as I am concerned this is a very sad day . As I have posted on another thread if they felt they had to do this they should have done it before the Liverpool game

A huge thank you Slav in you I still trust.

I'm off into hospital now for an op this afternoon and I would have preferred far better news than this.

Sad way for a wonderful time to end but life goes on. We now have a manager with plenty of premiership experience who fans of the clubs he has managed still revere him. All our better players (and our lesser ones) will have an opportunity to grow under the guidance of him and his team (who I assume will come with him). This will hopefully include a quality defensive coach.

Very very sad. Winning that final at Wembley was one of the happiest days of my life, and a product of Slav's great work. Take a page in a local paper, print  picture of him with the trophy and write a thank you? My god he deserves it. It's been a tough season so far this season, but he did something very special here.

Sad for Slav but I believe it had to happen.  We played some beautiful football last season but that was in a different league and it doesn't automatically translate to success in the top flight.  There wasn't a plan B to be seen.  All the players need to show some serious balls now and we need to find ways to win ugly.

I can become a bit bored with football, but the six months or so from January 2018 to the end of the World Cup was just some of the most enjoyable I had seen in general, with England actually having a very enjoyable tournament, in a great world cup, Mo Salah's joyful play and Liverpool's run to the Euro final and earlier that day seeing The Wall Of White at Wembley and the culmination of six months of the best consistent football I had ever seen Fulham play (of course the one offs in Europe under Roy were fantastic too). Those six months will stay will me for a long time, and I did feel myself fall in love with the game again big time.

Thank You Mr Jokanovic

Time will tell but had Slav been kept on and Fulham still in this position at xmas, everyone would be saying he should have been sacked in November. Ranieri has a tough  task and we all hope he transforms the team's defending, surely a priority. Personally, I think he is a good choice, given the alternative names banded about. Slav will not be out of work for long and has been said, Fulham had 2 great seasons with him in charge.

Thanks for our successes over the past couple of seasons. We played a lot of good football, admired by many of the other Championship teams.

Sorry it had to end this way......but it usually does, regardless of recent glory (ask Ranieri).

The old expression, 'Horses for courses' probably sums up that Slavisa may be an excellent manager in the Championship, with the talent available at that level and maybe he knew his limitations and that could have reflected in his hesitation to sign a new contract, until he felt comfortable in the top flight.

Anyway, thanks again and good luck in the future, you did us proud. Thought the club could have handled your dismissal better.

I feel really sad today. I really hoped Slav would have proved himself in the Premier League with us.

Regardless of today's events nobody can take away from him the fact that under his management Fulham Football Club (our club) was once again on the map for all the right reasons. The Jacko statue had been consigned to history and the living nightmare of Felix Magath was replaced with swashbuckling, attractive, free flowing football, a 23 game unbeaten run in the best and most competitive second tier league in world football and that day at Wembley which will remain in our hearts and minds forever.

Many wrote on here at the time that something about Fulham FC changed on the 26th of May. We actually won a game that really mattered, believed we were going to win and put the curse of Wembley to bed.

It was Slav's brand of football that meant the Wembley pitch was perfect for us, that Villa's ageing defence had to play so deep as to nullify their own attacking threat and for us to look as though we played there every week. If it hadn't been for Slav's brand of football there would have been no 'White Wall'. Instead of travelling in expectation to claim what we believed was rightfully ours we would have turned up in hope with the experiences of all that had gone before weighing us down.

When Slav said immediately after the Villa game that Fulham would not change their style under him in the Premier League I honestly thought there was a lot of bravado in those words. As things turned out I think he was too stubborn for his own good and it was ultimately his undoing. It got to the stage that I felt he couldn't play any other way and that was why he was possibly losing some of the dressing room.  Then on Sunday things improved. If only he'd have set the team up in a similar way against lesser opposition we'd probably be on at least 10 points already. But by Sunday it was obviously too late for Shad. Even those that disagree will at least understand why he has acted now. He doesn't want a repeat of his last season in the Premier League.  He sees this as our best chance of surviving this season and then building an established Premier League club for the future.

So thank you Slav. You were great for us, we wish you well for all that you do in the future and you will be guaranteed a standing ovation at the Cottage every time you return as a manager of our opponents. COYW.

Why are you so surprised that some people have RESPECT towards the man who made Fulham big again? I will never understand THIS kind of mentality. Ever!

There is a big difference between respect and wanting success for a coach over and above the club. I have huge respect for our coach. But am still able to see the problems he created for himself last season and this season. We all loved the great winning run and are saddened by the awful collapse this season. But I want the club to be successful and one just has to look a the struggles Joka has had this season with team sheets and tactics to see he was struggling. As I have said some fans will never want to see the problems Joka had because they loved him so much. Which is why you think it disrespectful to want the club to do well over and above the coach.  I respect yours and others opinion without agreeing with it.

If my calculations are correct, prior to today he was the 6th longest reigning manager currently in the Premiership.

Jokanovic had to go because...well, analytics do not lie. You certainly did not think that prodigy, chief of analytics at Jacksonville Jaguars, Fulham, NASA...could do wrong? Or that his father would destroy a "family concept" by admitting it.

Jokanovic is a manager for the EPL, and he will prove it soon, with the team willing to give him freedom Eddie Howe, for example, has at Bournemouth. If you are a manager who is responsible for the results, then it is only natural that you have a say in what can get you sacked if done wrong.

The appointment of Ranieri could and probably will prove to be refreshing at this moment, because of a positive shock, and because the team was picking up in form (it could be seen against Liverpool under Jokanovic). Short-term, probably yes, but long-term? Can a 67-year-old Ranieri be expected to build new Fulham, with a trademark style of play? Doubt it. On top of that, this has been very unfair towards Jokanovic, who took over the club when it was in shambles, and deserved at least 10% of tolerance that the owner's son is getting with his blunders- so there is this fear of karma.

And..it wasn't. I'm sure YOU know it aswell. Some people sounds like Chelsea fans - disrespectfull. So much negativity about Jokanovic. You couldn't see them on this forum untill two weeks ago. They don't bother to support, just to criticise. And they will do it again..soon. Mark my words! SJ could have get some respect from us. Not hate. That was my point. Thanks Slavisa. I really do hope that another club will quickly endorse your playing methods because you have given our fans some of the best football in years, and of course culminating in that WONDERFUL DAY at WEMBLEY. I shall miss your comments on TV because no matter what the provocation you came across as a true gentleman. Their are not too many of those around in Football. You have battled well in your time at Fulham and many of us appreciate that too. Life does not always treat us fairly, but remember where one door closes another quickly opens. I shall definitely watch with real interest in your future.
I must say this I am really sad to see you go. THANK YOU.

I haven't read any gloating or any happy posts that he has gone. Only those posts that say it was the right time while giving him the respect he was entitled to. I have seen very disturbing threads about plots and martyrdom. So I guess feelings are running high. But as Fulham supporters we could all see it was time for a change. We couldn't allow things to continue. As a fan who has always thought others fans were overly generous to him for his mistakes I never read any thread saying it was ALL his fault. Which only goes to show we all read what we want to read. But clearly there should be no hate anymore than there should be talk of him being infallible. We had a great year last year and an awful one this year. Time to move on.

What a shame. Logically we had to make a change but I'm so disappointed to see him gone, I've been very low all day. I also hoped that when he'd leave us it was because he'd been headhunted by a bigger club and that would mean we've been successful. Very sad day.

This silmply is not true .
You keep going on and on about there are so many who had such blind loyalty towards Slav - then you post the above .  Are you suggesting that those of us who valued him are not ' Fulham supporters ' ? which would be nothing short of outrageous .  I put it to you that 'all ' of us is simply not true ( you may think that those people are misguided - but as you often say this is their right to have differing views ). At least try to be as factual as you can be when trying to prove your point  - it might just help

I will be behind the new manager who always comes over as a very honest chap , a true football man with a lot of passion . Thankfully it wasn't any of the other names that=t were in the hat

Thank you SJ.

He does fit being manager of a possesion based attacking team. I think he'd do better with any team that is at the top of their division vs. the bottom due to his attacking style. He fits an Arsenal of Chelsea type of side (in our division) better than one that needs to go into battle against relegation.

If we go down, I'd rather have him in the Championship, just as I'd rather have a Roy (or potentially Raneiri) in our division.

It is what it is.

I actually saw someone say they'd rather have Joka manage us in League Two than someone else manage us in the Prem. Genuinely quite scary that some people are more loyal to the manager than they are to the club.

This thread is clearly one for those who want to express their admiration and gratitude to one of our top managers in modern history. If you both prefer to continue to denigrate him I suggest it would be better done one any of the many SJ out threads.

But the post in this thread to which I replied wasn't just expressing admiration and gratitude. It was expressing dissatisfaction towards other people in the club, to which I thought was unreasonable and decided to challenge.

No the remarks after the support for Joka which I and others joined in decided to attack the mistakes of others. They have called Joka a scapegoat, a martyr, they have called for the Owner and his son to be sacked . That is what I was reacting to. Then I was told fans are luxuriating and being disrespectful to our coach. I have not seen ONE post that supports that. Along with the many disrespectful threads I am told were about our coach , the many Joka out threads don't exist compared to the constant praise that Joka has received. See my posts I was happy to give him the praise he deserved. But I do not put him above the club and think the owner and his son should go. If you want threads only praising the coach and wanting everybody else punished I suggest you go to them. There are plenty of them out there.

At the moment I am hugely disappointed that Slav has been sacked. I loved the way his team played football. (not so much this season after the first 4 games). I really wished he'd been given the time to turn it around. He was fantastic for Fulham and certain key players.

However I will now back Claudio until he's replaced.
