Title: RIP Richard Baker
Post by: Andy S on November 18, 2018, 01:05:30 AM
News Reader, tv and radio presenter Richard Baker has passed away aged 93. Very sad and from my youth. Condolences to his family and friends

He and Kenneth Kendall were the names back then, as you say names recalled from our long gone youth that we never forget. RIP.

RIP Richard and sincere condolences to his family.

Not too many remember his calm demeanor back in the fifties when all Telly was "live" and Richard soothed us through the frequent breakdowns.
Thank you Richard 🙏

Probably because we have so many now. But in the days of Baker et al they had a certain gravitas and one would listen and watch with interest. Like football first teams we knew who the news readers were and what they said was usually true. Now the tv News Media is only interested in what makes the best pictures and how to dumb down the bite size comments.

Richard Baker and Sandy Gall (from ITN) were the heavyweights back in that day. I think Sandy is still of this world, must be of a similar age if he is...

RIP.
