Title: How much time will Ranieri have had with the squad?
Post by: Neil D on November 20, 2018, 01:35:41 PM
I'm not sure how many players were away on international duty, so I suppose it's quite possible that Wednesday will be the first opportunity to work with the squad.   Not enough to get them thinking and playing how he wants them to play - not even remotely so.  So, is it unlikely we will see any significant change on Saturday?

Mitrovic is playing tonight, so I would imagine he will be given Wednesday off and will meet up with Claudio for the first time on Thursday,
So far from ideal.

Yes. England u21 playing this afternoon (5.00 BTtv) so, presumably, Ryan is still away.

Some of those on International duty will literally have 48 hours or less to meet our new coach. The rest of the squad played a behind closed doors friendly with QPR the other night and CR was able to get a brief idea of what was left. Vietto played up front. But very little time for the players and CR. Which is why the timing wasn't ideal to sack Joka. Whatever does happen against Southampton we can rest assured the squad will have a better idea what is required of them after that.

Or he could go mostly with a team he has been able to work with over the last couple of weeks and then introduce those that have been away on international duty later. I think from the team below only Mitro has been away;

                                      Rico
TFM                 Odoi                      Mawson                 Bryan

Schurrle           Chambers              Cairney                 Sessegnon

                          Vietto
                                               Mitrovic

Bryan is injured (and has been for some time).
If the Sessegnon is Ryan, he has beeen away with Eng u21 and still is.

Bryan is back in training although how fit I wouldn't know. Played in 45 minutes of the behind closed doors game with QPR without problems.

Is there any info on the QPR game that was  played behind closed doors?
