One has to commend Scott Parker for the valiant effort he liberated out of the players against our arch-enemy last weekend, and if this vein continues Parker looks a good fit for next season, whatever the outcome.
He played Tom Cairney in his correct position, finally, and he performed as expected, and started with Ryan Sessengnon who was unluckily ruled offside for a fairly valid goal (no advantage to the attacking team one observes). But we played with gusto and tempo which made Fulham the most exciting team in ALL leagues last season.
Indeed Chelsea were the beneficiaries of the fine margins which turned the game on it's head. Their "foul" on so-called 'hard man' Kanté was a soft one which led to their first goal. Sky conveniently missed that in their half-time review. But they looked at the foul on Fulham's Bryan not given which initiated Chelsea's second goal, Fulham hit on the counter. Had any of those two decisions gone in our favour we would be looking at sharing the honours deservedly, but this is what one expects in this 'broken' league run by a corrupt FA.
Fulham continue to receive the worst refereeing and it was no surprise against our neighbours who receive among the best, Hazard at one point even stopping playing to demand a free-kick, which referee Graham Scott quickly obliged.
There is still hope, and if Manchester United can perform the near impossible so can Fulham. Onward to Leicester!
