Sad to recently read about Steve Marriot - all his money ripped off by the Mafia in America, then ended up in poverty , scrabbling around for gigs. He was a great singer, songwriter and performer, like so many, died far too young.
Ian Curtis, Jim Morrison, Hendrix, Joplin, Brian Jones, Eliot Smith, Gil Scott Heron, Billlie Holliday
Stevie :HD: no questions about it :yay:
Carl and Dennis Wilson 🎶🎼🎵
Lee Brilleaux
Stuart Adamson

Hardly think Crosby is in the died to young category, bit like David Bowie that someone else mentioned.

:plus one:
As you will have read, Peter Ham committed suicide at 27. He left a note telling his pregnant wife and son that he loved them. It read, "I will not be allowed to love and trust everybody. This is better. Pete. PS Stan Polley is a soulless b4st4rd. I will take him with me"
Tom Evans committed suicide a few years later.
Blues/Folk singer Lead Belly (Huddie Ledbetter).

Eva Cassidy.
Best version of "Over the Rainbow"
She still 'takes my breath away' whenever I hear her.
Another tragic early death, from closer to home this time, was Sandy Denny (born in Merton Park).
Otis Redding .

Otis Redding .
I was hoping I would not be alone.
Of all the artists listed Otis is for me the stand out died young man that I would have loved to see. There is no song he doesn't improve and for such a young man he tears the emotion out of every word. Cigarettes and Coffee a particular less known favourite.
Art Pepper.
Prince.
Donny Hathaway .
Not only was Karen Carpenter a good singer, she was a very good drummer where she started her career
I think John Lennon and Michael Jackson are very important people to mention.
However, I'll go slightly more niche and go for Tom Petty.
Elvis Presley - shocked no one has mentioned him yet!
Maybe I missed it, but haven't seen a Jim Morrison mention,,,,,,

The lady uyou mention has a very wonderful voice but the songs I have quickly looked up and the one you have here are not quite my style but she is obviously avery very good.
This is Phylis Hyman
Jim Morrison
Jim Croce and Harry Chapin, brilliant lyricists
Ray Manzerek, backbone of the Doors, and more talented than Morrison in my book.

Didn't die young though (74), whereas Morrison was 27
Terrific keyboard player, no doubt. That band was hard to pigeon hole. A blues band at heart but with an exploratory streak.
