Title: NFR: Cars.
Post by: BigbadBillyMcKinley on July 18, 2019, 05:52:26 PM
Are there any mechanics on this board? I have an issue with my car that is really beginning to pee me off.

Changed that. Changed glow plugs. Changed timing belt. Still runs really lumpy and stalls.

Have you checked the air pressure in your tyres ?

It probably has a thrombosis between the steering wheel & the pedals.

I know next to nothing about engines, but I had what sounds like a similar problem to you on my transit.  It turned out there was a vacumn feed into the fuel pump. As soon as they changed this it was perfect. About 15 different garages gave me 15 different diagnoses.

I misguidedly used to be a motor mechanic when it was a carburetor, plugs, points and a condenser and a choke to pullout when the engine was cold then to push back in before one flooded the engine. I now open the bonnet of my latest car and I have as much idea of what to do as Nick Clegg or Chris Grayling have of talking common sense.

Thank you and good night

The most unreliable part of a car is usually found to be the nut behind the steering wheel.

I've had it plugged in and they said it was the code for the glow plugs. I've just bought new air and fuel filter for it so will fit them this weekend. Been suggested to try something that's similar to, but stronger than redex. Hopefully will clear out the injectors. After that, it'll be back to the garage.

What Volvo have you got?

It was a V50, the worst car I've ever had - and I once had an Allegro.

You never get these problems with a horse and cart.

It's a good job I took out full maintenance package.  Hope it gets sorted

Very sensible. Thank you but I got rid of it as quickly as I could after it cost me thousands.
