Title: U18s
Post by: Hatch007 on October 21, 2019, 09:48:40 PM
In brighter news our U18 side scored five goals for a second match running in beating Swansea U18s away 5-1.

Jay Stansfield, whom I believe we signed during the summer from Exeter, scored a hat trick taking his tally to seven in the past two matches and 13 for the season.

We are joint top of the league with 7 wins and a draw from our eight games so far this season 👋

Let's hope we continue and that these players develop the qualities  required for the Championship  ... and beyond. It would be a huge financial boost. Look how much Chelsea are now making from their fringe players, and the impact some are having in the Premier League.

IF anyone wants to see thing to cheer about you should watch the match highlights for the Swansea match.  Some fantastic play by the U18's with great ball movement.  Can see several of those players going forward fast.

Out of interest, do our u18's set up like the first team do and is the philosophy set by Parker followed through to u18's as well?

From what I can tell, they mainly play a 4-4-2 for the majority of their matches.  They have played a 4-3-3 in a couple of matches in which the top three look to spread wide with the midfield 3 playing tighter together.  I would suspect that is so the outside LB and RB can be wingbacks creating five in the middle at times.
