Can't stand Bragg he is a total twit
Billy Bragg's got to Number One with a Beatles cover / Arthur Mullard tribute...
https://youtu.be/ZHFxCj3wqaQ
One of the most forgotten number ones of all time.
He did some nice tunes though, Sexuality is excellent.

Love the Furey's, that's one of the best versions of that song- very moving.

Thanks for that, never heard it before. In fact, have only ever heard the Beatles version.
I really like Billy Bragg as a songwriter, could even say he's a favourite, and saw him recently live, in Manchester.
Agree that Sexuality is great.
Admire him as a man too.
If any of you like a bit of Elbow, their new album "Giants of All Sizes" will be right up your street. Really good. They're also touring next year, April dates at the Eventim Apollo.

Yes, it's stunning. A bit morbid, maybe, but so true and no apologies as Armistice Day is approaching. I assume you're also familiar with what I think of as the other great anti-war song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnFzCmAyOp8
Yes, know it well, one of the great ant-war songs, written by the great Eric Bogle.
It was the Pogues recording that drew my attention to it https://youtu.be/G6IhLcnyuN0
and they recorded another of his songs, Navigator, about the navvies who built the railways. https://youtu.be/Fh0F41AvO_Q
Eric Bogle also wrote Green Fields of France.
I ended up buying an Eric Bogle Best Of record - his songs are much recorded and loved.

Elbow are a great band, with some great songs so well performed by Guy Garvey.
I bought their Greatest Hits. I particularly like this one - https://youtu.be/Wm0AHl5LNAI
I think they would be great to see live.

Not forgetting Bert Weedon

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the Pogues' version. Can't help liking Shane's voice - though he sounds sober on this!
OK - he's not so sober here though!
