Hibs sack Heckingbottom win 4-1.

I think plays a role, but how much I couldn't say. I think it has more to do with what the owner THINKS the problem is.
Up in Edinburgh for a few days so went to the Hearts game. Fantastic for a neutral with a 5-2 scoreline. Really poor quality game though. Doubt either team would survive in the Championship.
Yes. Absolutely. Each of these results is a disgrace really and an insult to all their fans. Shows all the players are plenty good enough and just downed tools for the previous managers. Now that they're worried the new managers may not fancy them, they put in a shift. Says pretty much everything you need to know about the morality and mentality of modern footballers.

Hibs and Hearts haven't appointed anyone yet,so makes you wonder.
It's obvious players deliberately underperform to get a manager the sack, it's been going on for years. One of the many reasons football is eating itself from within.

Why did Stoke beat us then if they wanted rid of the manager, I know where you are coming from, player power has an influence, Chelsea are a great example!

True, but they might prefer the caretaker and want him to get the job, rather than some new bloke they don't know who might bin them.

Brian Clough denied players ever deliberately underperform in a match, at least all his ex-players.

John McGovern the little workhorse in midfield once said,"there is no way you don't give 110 pc for the guvoner, because no matter who you are you will be out on your arse next game if you don't".

I think Leeds players definitely underperformed to get rid of Clough after he accused them of winning only by cheating.

Apart from the Leeds players who had a hidden agenda.
Nobody dared underperform under Brian Clough, he was a proper manager, a man manager, and he managed very well indeed.
