After Bristol City left the Cottage with the three points it was clear some of their players were dead on their feet, or on their back for their striker. Playing two full games a week clearly leaves little recovery time. I haven't seen a match report but noticed Bristol lost their midweek game. I'm sure squad rotation helps but I do wonder if the high press works when there are so many fixtures?
Certainly looked the case when we played QPR , they couldn't keep going for 90. When Slav was in charge we always got stronger as the game went on as teams gave up chasing the ball . So I guess it works to an extent but at some point you have to find away to keep hold of the ball .
See where your coming from SP and its a good point with so many games. There arent that many teams that you can press high in the championship as they ply it long and early ,more often than not.Possession is therefore contested or lost anyway.
It works if they're up 3-0 at half time, which qpr should have been.
We may look poor for the first 30 minutes against high pressing teams but if it's 0-0 at half time I will put my money on us to win, every time!
Its normally why Leeds drop off in the second half of the season players are tired and pick up more injuries

Helps of course if you have players capable of holding and distributing the ball. Can't say that about quite a few of ours unfortunately.
The high press seems to work against us!
