Title: What a great start to a busy February. Seven games in four weeks.
Post by: The Swan on February 04, 2020, 02:13:38 PM
One great win only six to go. Win the remaining games and we should be in the top two.
Not easy games , but we have some tough ones coming up in March.
Fourteen points out of the next six games should keep us happy, if we can't win them all.

Blackburn - 10th (Away)
Form League on last 6 games - 13th

Form for last 6 Blackburn games at Ewood Park - 3 wins and 3 draws. Most notably wins against Brentford, Derby and QPR.

They lost close game 3-2 to Nottingham Forest and their last two games were a 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday (although
Wednesday had a man sent off on 23 minutes) and the 2-1 win over QPR

They've only failed to score in 4 games so far this season, one of which was at Craven Cottage, scoring 43 goals in 30 games averaging 1.43 goals a game. So if it's a tight game or we're 1-0 up and they get to pressure us, don't be suprised if, unless there's inspired defensive performances that they could find a way through. We need to score two.

They're 12th in terms of goals conceded letting in 1.23 goals a game.  94% of their shots come from the 18 yard box or further out, which ties into the fact their top scorer is a midfielder.

Possession stats leave them between 40-60% a game over the last 7 or 8 - this would back up a solid overall team at this level which is why they're in tenth and no higher or lower. There's not a huge difference in GD in either goals scored or conceded, which would simply suggest to my untrained eye that we're better at managing games - which ties in with our higher % of possession on average ranging between 55% - 70%. Both teams are guilty of overplaying it in the middle of the park, so it seems a case of who gains the upper hand in midfield will have a big say in the game. 22 of their 43 goals this season have come from Midfield too.
