DICKSON ETUHU has been banned from all football in Sweden for five years due to his involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
Dickson Etuhu along with former IFK Rossjoholm player Alban Jusufi, is claimed to have met with AIK goalkeeper Kyriakos Stamatopoulos in May 2017 and offered him a £160,000 bribe to under-perform against Gothenburg.
Stamatopoulos reported the approach, however, and the upcoming fixture was postponed.
The Swedish football federation have now made the decision to ban both Etuhu and Jusufi for 'deliberately trying to persuade an Allsvenskan player to underperform in one of their team's matches'.
I think the real question for me is, who was paying Etuhu to underperform for Fulham for 4 seasons!
I dont understand why someone who has earned s footballers wage for years would be tempted into something like this with that amount of money. It had a huge potential to backfire and it did just that. Disappointing to hear this really. I have huge respect for him given his time in one of our most successful teams ever. He was not flashy or particularly technically gifted but he knew his job and performed it well. We could use an Etuhu in our team right now. That respect has taken a bit of a hit now unfortunately.
Money I'm afraid....The more some have the more they want.
"who was paying Etuhu to underperform for Fulham for 4 seasons!"
He was a decent player for us and occasionally excellent. Always a trier.

As they say money is the root of all evil.
Surprised though, I wouldn't have thought he was short of a bob or two. Always had respect for him as I thought he was a hard working honest player.
Hadn't seen any reports on this, but assuming he has been tried and found guilty, I am really saddened.

You think he was decent? he is the only player my wife who is not a Fulham fan, has ever picked out and asked "Who is he? he is terrible". Pehaps she saw something.
It still amazes me how there's players that do this sort of thing I'm so glad he got caught and hope he's never able to earn another penny out the the game.

Yes I do. Anyone can have a bad game. I remember an early game Brede played against Sunderland and he looked a right donkey. Became half of arguably the best centre back pairing we've had for decades.
I'm amazed he was mug enough to approach the guy in the first place and not use a middle man!
Once upon a time Fulham were hard to score against in the premier league. This guy had two instructions: disrupt the opposition and get the ball to Danny who won't be more than five yards away. He was great at both of them. Admittedly I could have done second, but when it came to running, tackling, creating havoc at corners and generally being horrible to be marked by, he was top drawer. Successful teams often need a player like that. Roy knew what he was doing.

Let's not forget the crucial away goal he scored against Juve. Bit fortunate but still crucial!

She should watch more Fulham games, we have had a lot of players like him in recent years, perhaps they will be done for match fixing in the future. How much did Etuhu cost us, a lot less than Seri and Anguissa and a few others?

Sorry, I need to get technical, but this is a very misquoted quote...
It's not the money itself... "the
"LOVE" of money is the root of all evil". 067.gif
Not that Dickson didn't have that too... :022:

I agree too
He was Mr. Effort. All in. 100%. We need someone like that again. With foot speed. I'd settle for a tireless quick defensive CM whose ceaseless hard work buys precious seconds for his teammates. I don't remember Dickson as much of a distributor.
He didn't take risks, he did what he was instructed to do, and did it very well mostly.
A very successful player for us.

Me too, I remember talking to Nigel Quashie whilst he was still playing, he always said his job was to get the bill and give it to the players that can play. Dickson was a Cantona described a "water carrier"

I would assume that is because he was the middle man.
Things can happen. If a well known and high ranked player as Maradona was hanging around the Camorra mafia when he was playing for Napoli.. I guess also Dickson can end up with bad company..
