Complete idiot after 2 minutes why would he do that and deservedly get a 3 match ban and maybe cost us a chance of making the play offs? Whatever he has achieved this season has now been undone, 075.gif
not angry at him, was a disgusting challenge, with or without him, we are still pretty crap at the moment so makes no odds to me that hes suspended
I think we have been so poor before and after lockdown that this will have little effect on our play and results.
Sorry I'm just really disappointed with us this year.
We all knew he was more than capable of getting banned, it's just madness the timing of this. Could it possibly be out of sheer frustration as to the way in which the team are set up/playing.
Just cant understand why he chose to do this so early in the game.
Ayling has got away scot free for his elbow. Why doesn´t that surprise me.

Conspiracy theory: he wants out, even if we get promotion. Easiest way to get out is if we don't get promoted. Suarez used to do it with 'biting opponents' to secure a transfer away when the club didn't want to sell (he did it at Ajax and than at Liverpool right before a transfer)
He didn't need help, he was going to go anyway.
Not at all. The guy has been magnificent for the team. He came with a reputation as a hot head which quite honestly we've rarely seen. Forgiven in my book. Nothing to get too excited about. It'll present opportunities for others so I'm looking forward to see how we line up tomorrow.
I feel I should be, but hard to be mad at one of our few good performers this year.
Not angry, just thought it was silly. Anger is too much of a theme in the world right now - leave it out of my club.
He wanted to set a 'marker' to show whose going to boss the 90 minutes plus. To be honest, it didn't work, it wasn't 'subtle', the ball had long gone. It was 'blatant'. That generally ups the opponents own game, which it did.

Nothing wrong with being angry...I'd birch him.😣
His family booked their Summer holidays
Doesn't want to be delayed by trivia like playoffs
Clearly frustration takes its toll. But shows a lack of professionalism and in the end only does harm to the side and the chances of success. More disappointed than angry.
Yes. Needless elbow to someone's jaw...and the person wasn't expecting the blow.
I'll get over it though.
I'm annoyed. After just 2 minutes a total lack of professionalism could have seen us down to 10 men with 88 minutes to go in one of our biggest games of the season. What was he thinking of?
092.gif
No.
Don't think it makes much difference. The next few games are only, and only ever were, going to end one way, which is us making the play-offs.
The harm of not having him will also be offset by forcing Parker to try something new, which he was never going to be bold or intelligent enough to try otherwise.
In fact given all Mitro has done for us thus far, I'm a hell of long way off being angry with him.
The man is a legend.

Can't see that reasoning, at least not that early in the game.
play offs are far from certain just yet.

There's been a lot wrong with being angry, but if it motivates someone to do something positive - so be it.
Mitro is banned, it's done and over with - no point in sulking and being angry, so I'm moving on. Personally, looking forward to seeing how our club does without Mitro for 3 matches because if we perform well it will shows that we don't just rely on him anymore. This a character defining moment, and will be a key test for all involved.
More upset that we have no plan B. No idea where Kamara is and we have no other forward. We cant seem to score with him in the team these days so the outlook is grim
Don't buy any of these conspiracy theories either. He was just well up for it and wanted to get in their players' faces IMO. Knockaert stamped on one of them as well. Parker had clearly told the players to go and fight and rattle them. And it would have worked had it not been for their soft goal against the run of play. The fact is Mitro does this sort of thing several times every game and generally he gets a booking at worst. Unfortunately this time he was just a little too heavy-handed and it was in a televised game, when the ref wasn't looking.
Has he apologised at all. I am sorry it was a stupid thing to do and he should have apologised to the fans and supporters.
To me our attack has become more and more one dimensional as the season has gone on. All we do is bounce the ball around the center of the pitch until we can get a ball into Mitro and than everyone stands flat footed to see what Mitro does. No follow up and no assistance to him in the attack. Maybe now, Paeker will actually have the lads try something different.
Stupid thing to do so early in the game it could easily have been a sending off
Everyone knows that when you have a younger player you try to intimidate them but to elbow someone so blatantly is Crazy
He has been one of our better players this season and with Kamara missing this could not have come at a worse time, but I think we have become predicable and people are starting to believe stop Mitro and Fulham have problems,
So this may call for a change of tactics which may just work out well (we can but hope)

Damnit, Statto, I'm agreeing with you more and more lately. This is exactly where my thought was as well. As a former striker (and not a big one), I would make my presence felt immediately - whether it be pushing a big centre back down or slightly stepping on their boots. You get away with it most of the time, but this time Mitro's was plain as day and in the clear with no ther bodies around.

One of the favourite things we told players to do was stand on keepers feet at corners, very hard for ref to see, bit naughty, but I used to think, if keepers can come jumping out with feet and fists flying everywhere, giving a little back is ok.

Agree with all this too. Yes, disappointed is my feeling but the guy has been fantastic for us. And no, I don't buy the conspiracy theories either. It will certainly be interesting to see how we set up and how play over the next few games.

I was just thinking that.
I'm more frustrated than anything because he is now missing for three games when we need him most and also if he had got a red card after 2 mins the game would have been over I know we lost anyway but thats not the point .
Also if arter or knockheart or christie had done this we would be locking them up for their own protection but because its mitro its ok

Really?
The last couple of matches were important because they were our last chance of making the top 2.
In a few weeks time we may have some more important games - the play-offs.
But the next three games are not important.
Need a win tomorrow for the playoffs.

We don't need to win any of the next three games to make the playoffs. If we get 3 draws, we would be 67 points, and for us to be seventh by then Preston or Derby need to win the next three games. Preston is on a losing steak of five games, while Derby is facing Preston, Forest, and WBA.
When Mitrovic returns we will be in the top six. We need "Mitro on Fire" with some coring ability around him, as "if we win the last seven games of the season, then we are in the premier league".

Could also be easier to keep him for next season if he keeps this up...less likely someone will splash out £££ on a liability...
Here's a stat for you...
In terms of points per game, if we play the next seven games like Barnsley (24th) and Preston play like Leeds (1st) they still won't catch us.

Here's a stat for you...
In terms of points per game, if we play the next seven games like Barnsley (24th) and Preston play like Leeds (1st) they still won't catch us.
Even in our worst run of seven games this season, we still got 7 points (2 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses). If we got seven points, Fulham would be on 71 points.
Two of the below teams need to get (ore exceed) 71 points to threaten us:
- Cardiff needs 11 out of 21 points, they could reach playoffs and may stop Derby.
- Derby needs 14 out of 21 points, tough draw but form indicates they could reach playoffs.
- Preston needs 14 out of 21 points, haven't won any of their last five games so unlikely.
- Blackburn needs 15 out of 21 points, lost to Wigan last game and will play Leeds /WBA.
- Swansea needs 15 out of 21 points, lost to Luton last game and will play Leeds/Forest.
- Milwall needs 16 out of 21 points, dropped 5 points in last two games and will drop more.
- Bristol needs 16 out of 21 points, dropped 6 points in last two games and will drop more.
- Wednesday needs 19 out of 21 points, any loss ends the season and next game WBA.
Cardiff and Derby are the only two teams that can reach 71 points.
For Derby to get 71 points, they will have to beat Preston and Birmingham plus against the five teams above them (Leeds, WBA, Brentford, Forest, and Cardiff) get 8 out of 15 points.
In order to eliminate Fulham, Cardiff would also have to go on a winning run. Although if Cardiff winning steak included beating Derby; then Derby must get 8 points against WBA, Leeds, Brentford, and Forest almost impossible.
If we got less than seven points, which is probably enough to make the playoff semi-final comfortable, but our form would be "2 wins and 5 losses" or "1 win, 3 draws and 3 losses" and I doubt anyone has been promoted with that form.
In reality, Fulham gets seven points then we are in the playoffs and can get promoted. If we get six points, we are still in the playoffs, but have no chance of winning them anyway.
In conclusion, the next seven games are pre-playoff practice games as we can only miss out on the playoffs if everyone is kicking us and we won't win them then anyway. We need to find a winning combination in the next three games and perfect it over the next four practice games.

Once Kamara and Mawson come back they will be injured again in another seven games, save them for the home stretch of the last seven games including the playoffs when Mitrovic comes back.

Have to agree with.the above. As it was so early in the game.I wondered if it was payback for something previous?
Anyone remember Andy Johnson getting flattened in an early round of the Europa? Roy had to change things after and that lead to a great season. I'm praying this happens again.

He was laying down a statement of intent, the problem was the ball was long gone. If the ball had been there it would still be bad, but at least he would of had a context. It was 'blatant' and seen by all, except by the officials.
Mitro is the best converter of chances from crosses. Every stat shows it.
We have two wingers with Knock and Cav yet how many crosses were put into the box in the last two matches.I cant remember seeing more than a couple.
Just completely baffling stats. Parker is a totally illogical coach. He plays such a restricted and tactically limited game, and is completely unable to change play.
No wonder Mitro gets sent off, he is frustrated and will be going.
Cairney looks down as well. And Parker has totally failed to get the best out of StefJo Bryan, Sess, the list goes on and on.Coaching is not just about making subs and picking the right team, it is about improving players and getting a system that suits the squad. A big fail on both of those.

Parker couldn't as coach (or assistant coach) get the best out of Seri either. And, now Seri's playing so well in Turkey it seems we might make an FFP profit on him and Anguissa too. Everyone who loves Slavisa, remember after Stuart Gray was swapped out for Scott Parker his fortunes changed.
