Makes a change from going after the usual suspects,Monk,Houghton etc etc etc.
But to be fair, both have a history of not going for established names. Bournemouth gave Eddie Howe a chance twice, even after a poor stint at Burnley and City went for a previous manager's son. Brentford too have a record of good appointments (Warburton, Smith and Frank). Refreshing to see.
Also both know the club and players already.

It might be the start of the rise of the next generation and finally, finally the merry go round grinds to a halt. The Prem might take a while to have a few more fresh faces but the likes of Parker, Potter and Dyche are a start.
A few members on here often tout Joka for these jobs, Boro, Brum and Bristol City of late, but if this is indeed the start of a new trend then calls for his return may have run its course.

So, what has happened to Jocanovic, really expected him to be back on the scene by now.
Fair to say a read on the Bristol city forum suggests most are very unenthusiastic about Holden, fearing the same 'style' as lee Johnson.

Indeed they were and Houghton can add to his cv about being unfairly treated but harsh as it is, as with many of us, time is a vicious mistress. The game is moving on, or sideways, sideways, backwards, and although Warnock remains an oddity I don't think we will see the likes of Houghton, Pardew and Big Sam back on the frontline, outside of punditry.
As for Joka. I think the football business scales are stacked against him now. His tenure at Watford did not end well despite their success and outside the 'magic' six months or so here it was a bumpy road at times and a train crash at the end with the blame being thrown in all directions. Add to that it is now nearly two seasons out of the English game with no firm offers, (that we know of). I think at least ten vacancies have come and gone that forum members have lined him up for but owners, DoF's and Club Execs have, as far as we know, all passed on bringing him in. I would suggest the recent appointments at Bristol City, Birmingham and Boro put him quite a way down any recruitment list at the moment.
