Stadium update

How in heaven have they done this....what an achievement
Good luck to them. A lot of people in the new flats will get a free view of games.
A tremendous time for Wimbledon and for football. So good to see the small club surviving.
Wish them the best of luck.
Respect for what they have done.
I just wonder where they are going to get the fans to put in it....The ones who didn't turn up when they were in the top flight.
Really wish them the best of luck. So hard for smaller clubs......
I would not like to get there on match day, the traffic any time is dreadful.
Is the new stadium on the same site as was Plough Lane?

I recall one game under Tigana I think, when we took more fans than the home support. Most of the Arthur Waite Stand & a one or two goal victory. Happy days.
Some very passionate and imaginative football lovers who know a thing or two about football, property and finance have put this together to fulfil a clear and simple plan. Doing this and retaining control by the fans is one heck of an achievement.

Couple of hundred yards further down Plough Lane - The old speedway/greyhound/stock car track

Even worse when at Plough Lane (which, admittedly, was a complete tip). Gates usually in the 5000 to 6000 range. Could get up to 15000...if Liverpool or Manchester United brought 10000 to town.
To be fair to AFC they are a much more unified club with a proper hardcore fanbase (4000) since they reformed than they were before. We only had 3000 hardy souls when we spent seasons languishing in the lower echelons of div 4 (old money) but we did have support who stopped going through the dismal slide down the leagues.
Their ground is in a crap location but there is no reason for them not to be comparable to say Brentford when they have a settled home and if they have success on the pitch. Brentford's rise did not come overnight, they have been on the up for around 10 years now.
Has to be one of the great football stories. From nothing back to the football league through the pyramid and now back to their home area with a new stadium. :54:

Agreed. Lovely football club.
Plough Lane was the worst ground I've ever been to, didn't like Wimbledon's style of play and "personalities" at all BUT they were shat upon and good luck to them. I think they missed a trick, though, not calling themselves Real Wimbledon (as in Madrid).
Does anyone know if they still call themselves the Dons? I hope so.

I use to work the door for a short while at Nelsons Night Club and got more trouble from the players than any punters.

Was at that one, remember it was bucketing it down. Stadium empty because Wimbledon fans were on strike about the potential move to MK. Very weird atmosphere.
Great performance, Saha on song. Momentum starting to build.
And a pub on the site - what is there not to like when we get out of this dreadful epidemic, and while I am at it will our new stand have a bar or two for the non-exec box supporter?
Happy memories. My first football matches as a small kid at Plough Lane ( Wimbledon in the Isthmian League). I graduated from the Dons to the Whites !
I was at their "academy" if you could call it that when the senior pros were Vinny, fash, winterburn, wise etc. Amazing spirit and some very underated players who went on to achieve great things in the game.
I wish the club nothing but the best.
