Title: Lucky Burnley
Post by: sarnian on December 17, 2020, 07:55:21 PM
Wish we had their iuck. Played off the park by Villa who had almost 30 shots, hitting the bar 2 or 3 times and having 2 or 3 headed off the line. In truth Burnley were very poor.

I think we were fortunate yesterday to get a point to be honest.

And against Arsenal who chucked away a likely win with a moment of Xhaka stupidity (two words that are almost synonymous at this point). Unfortunately thats football though.

They have scored 6 goals in 13 matches ... if they run out of luck like they had in the Arsenal and Villa game, they could be in trouble since they can't score themselves

Bloody Villa, can't do anything right. We have to go halfway to the North Pole on Saturday to fight for three points now and get another manager the sack. Tut tut

We have to make our own luck. Let us not feel sorry for ourselves, Burnley know how to defend in depth, defend in numbers, keep their shape, restore their balance. That is not luck, that is being organised, being prepared and having the mental strength to grind out a result. It is nothing to do with luck.
They know how to keep a clean sheet, roll up their sleeves and sweat blood.
Luck is an excuse for somebody else's success.

It is definitely luck when the other team miss a host of good chances, that on any other day would have made the score 2/3-0

Not at all, that is, poor technique, careless finishing, shortcomings in ability and lack of composure in front of goal by opponents, nothing to do with luck.
The only time I would bring luck or bad luck into it, is when a referee or VAR make a standard cock up which generally favours the so called bigger teams, for example the penalty awarded against us v Man City, the penalty awarded against us v Liverpool and the penalty denied us v Liverpool to give 3 recent examples of why football is not a level playing field.

I agree with Woolly, if Villa missed a host of chances that's not luck for Burnley or unlucky for Villa, it's failed attempts, if you miss the target by 6 inches or 6 feet, it's still a miss.

And the sheff utd one as well?
The West Ham offside that never was?

Not exactly getting the rub of the green this season whether you believe in luck or not.
