Title: Sky Commentary
Post by: I Ronic on February 17, 2021, 07:25:32 PM
If I was a neutral I'd  have no idea who Burnley were playing. If Burnley mess it up they're unlucky. If the other team do it's  because Burnley made it happen ???
Come on the other team, smash um.

You noticed the bias too?

Fulham  "a point isn't good enough"

Burnley  "a point further away from relegation"

FULHAM'S point is only bad if they are only chasing Burnley.    We are a point closer to Newcastle and Brighton.

Best bit was at halftime. "Fulham have only had two shots on target against Burnley. The lowest they've  faced all season" how many had Burnley had ??? 3!

How could anyone not? It was there from first to last. And the lack of enthusiasm from the commentators when we scored was hilarious.

Co-commentator really had a hard on for Burnley on Sky, every time we play it's always with commentators who seem to want the other team to win. Wish we were on Amazon with Peter Drury and Ally McCoist every week, the only decent commentary pair we've had all season

You should have listened to 5 Live at half-time, with  Burnley fanatic Tony Livesey in the studio,  talking with the match commentator about how unlucky Burnley were.
They didn't even mention Fulham.

I actually listened to GJ - welcome back Jim, and Jamie,  and watched Sky with the sound down.

I suppose SKY think they have someone with a slight Fulham bias in Zamora as a pundit. I failed again to see it.

I liked the Scottish guy doing the punditry in the studio never heard of him before, had that tough Scotch man thing about him, like Sean Connery ish.... I would love to see him and Roy Keane have a "heated debate" 😊

Zamora was alright I thought.

I just cannot stand listening to their bias constant drivel.

Always watch Sky with sound turned down whilst listening to GJ and Jamie on ipad.

Welcome back GJ, glad to hear your on the road to recovery.

Steve Mcmanaman was very good about us on Sunday.

Agree only decent commentator all season was Ally McCoist who just was effortlessly neutral and brought a lot of enthusiasm.

Regards studio discussion, Lee Dixon but he's always been pro-Fulham.. and to an extent Sone Aluko.

Agree. He expressed surprise not just at the way we were dominating the game, but the quality of our football. Mind you, we have to crush a team in 6th place ....

Dion Dublin was the worst v West Brom - but he did at least admit to being a boyhood fan of theirs

FULHAM'S point is only bad if they are only chasing Burnley.    We are a point closer to Newcastle and Brighton.

In fairness that's a fair assessment of the situation IMO. It was a good result for Burnley, poor result for us, given what each team needs right now.

More generally, I thought they actually talked far more about our potential escape from the relegation zone that about Burnley inching towards middle table obscurity, understandably so.

The only thing that bothered me was the different treatment of the goals. Aina did really well IMO to deal with a ball coming at him at pace and a difficult height. He reacted quickly and ingeniously and used the pace of the ball to direct it somewhere the keeper had no chance. It was always going to be a goal or a goal-line clearance. It was as much about skill than luck. Whereas their goal involved a series of uncharacteristic cock-ups from our defenders. Yet the commentary team kept referring to our goal as a "gift" and Burnley's as a well-crafted response. Theirs was more of a "gift" than ours IMO.

At least SKY were honest enough to say today that their goal scorers first touch was awful but this actually deceived our keeper.
