The ref or lino must have seen the ball hit the arm with the naked eye,  so why change his mind after seeing it electronically.

Again, it's not VAR, it's a ridiculous rule that has cost us the goal tonight.

It was the use of VAR that made the ref look and change his mind.

Correct, but in this instance VAR called out a rule that was put in place and therefore the correct decision was made. It is a farcical rule but it is a rule unfortunately

it is the rule
it is not what it was intended to protect against but nonetheless the moronic rle makers have got it wrong and spoiling the game
i almost don't think the game will survive the insanity of the way the rules are now constructed. no fun in it. If his arm would have been out, if he had sought to gain advantage but no, the ball driven at close range straight at him, the ref given no ability to use common sense.

But the rule was applied correctly.
