Title: While injuries persist
Post by: H4usuallysitting on September 19, 2021, 09:20:44 AM
Shouldn't we have a look at BDR being a "floating" right back (Odoi has been great for Fulham, and may need more matches to gel), this would then give us the option of playing Muniz to pick up the second ball (from Mitro), and something different to what Mitro offer's us.....

Every team has their fair share of injuries, some more than others.
They often come along in groups like London Buses, it never rains but it pours.
But that is the challenge of a football season. Nobody should expect things to go to plan. Over a full League season including cups nothing can be overlooked, it's the small details together that mount up to be important issues.
What clubs have to do is meet these injury problems head on and embrace, have foresight and vision by preparing, organising for any disruption. To minimise the impact of injuries, suspensions and loss of form or lack of cover in key positions, you have to prepare for any unforeseen issue by a rigorous conditioning program and to improvise as well as have adequate cover across the pitch.
Playing square pegs in round holes is a dangerous game and you can only get away with it for so long if at all.
Therefore, when injuries occur and there is never good time for that to happen you have to deal with it and not bemoan the fact that it happens to us.
Every cloud has a silver lining in the same way that every silver lining has a cloud, ( please no puns about Silva ).
Fulham FC with the depth of our squad we cannot feel sorry for ourselves or call it rotten luck when you compare the squads of other teams. We are in an advantageous position, good job the season is not decided on a handicap competition.
But one players injury may give another player, young or not so young, experienced or i experienced an opportunity to have a decent run in the team and show he is worthy of a starting place or not worthy of a starting place.
So look upon it as a chance to see what another decent player can do if he gets the opportunity he would not have done otherwise.
Because if any manager has a tunnel vision of the ability of his fringe players and keeps making the same selections in adversity he can also be in danger of making the same mistakes and errors of judgement.
Sometimes it is nothing like freshening a position or two up.
Current injuries have forced the manager to make changes he may not have done, but he is blessed with a lot of talent and he has to be brave in his selections, he is only human and sometimes decisions may not always go according to plan.
So the bottom line is Fulham have no cause to worry too much as the players we have to choose from should be able to handle any challenge from any team in this Division at any time if you look at the quality of our squad compared to the rest of the Championship, every player has something to offer, some more than others maybe.

I thought that when Kebano replaced Odoi he looked good there.
