Title: Old Sod's Army- Peterborough 1960
Post by: bog on November 05, 2021, 01:27:17 PM
Anyone recall the FA Cup tie with Peterborough back in 1960? Us in the old div one and they widely regarded as the best non-league side so for that reason were called The Posh....I think.  A 0-0 at the Cottage  and a 0-1 away replay win with Mike Johnstone scoring. 61 years ago....emm.

I remember in 1957 spending a week in RAF Ely hospital in a ward that was occupied by just myself and thee older civilians from Peterbrough.
These three guys were stong Posh fans and I spent the whole week listening to football stories about the Posh.
I really had to admire their enthusiasm for what was then a non league side and have had a soft spot for the Posh ever since.
Looking forward to another Fulham win tomorrow though.

They were elected to the Football League the following season and won this with 66 points out of 92 (2 points for a win) scored 134 goals with Terry Bly hitting 52 of them.  Emm
