Title: Not brilliant
Post by: H4usuallysitting on March 12, 2022, 02:36:52 PM
But not sure how the ref didn't send himself off....if that was football we should of been playing 9 men at the end of the game & we should of had 3 penalties.... But.... A very good point

Kudos to Barnsley. They made it to about 80 mins with really impressive pressing and off-ball work before their legs went. Not sure we deserved to win that on balance, but certainly could/should have. Penalty decision obviously shambolic but we were very out of sorts for most of the match before their legs betrayed them.

We looked better when Cairney came on....but the ref was dreadful.....did I mention how bad the ref was

Another away game to tick off the list (Generally unscathed) on to WBA Tuesday.

A draw was probably a fair enough result but shame it took the worst refereeing decision of the season to enable Barnsley to get that point. And while I'm on the subject of abysmal officiating, what was the Lino doing and what in god's name is the point of the fourth official? A complete waste of salary and expenses, save the money because fourth officials are just water carriers.

And yes I agree, we did look better after Cairney came on.

The referee is either incompetent or a cheat, either way he should not be refereeing at this level.

I'm not sure we are as good as many make out. The ref didn't make us play poorly, any team that gets stuck into us seems to have success, we're weak, look for free kicks too much, complain too much. Silva looks bewildered at times on the touchline at what he's seeing.

Did I miss the part where we're top of the league and have won 10 of our last 13, drawing two and losing one? Screams average team to me

For me this sums it up...we weren't sharp in the box, Mitro had his worst game (he's entitled!) and their pressure made it difficult for us. Still should have been 0-2 up before that absurd pen decision but Barnsley deserve great credit for their defensive efforts

I knew we'd slip up today against a team fighting for survival
Well done Barnsley, can't begrudge them of that even if it was never a penalty and should of been called for shirt pulling before the ball even entered the box

Yeah, I guess an away point is something you really can't complain about.  Sure, FFC should be beating a red zone club at this time of the season, but all these games are tough.  Take the point, and be happy with it.

We really had some good chances / situations. Mitro was better placed then Fabio to strike the ball, but Fabio missed.
Mitro had a shot saved, but had he passed to Wilson, he would have scored. Then Mitro and Wilson missed a couple of easy headers.

At the end of the day it was an away point gained, one more point than when we had when we woke up this morning despite the referees incompetence.
Seri is too lightweight in these kind of games and we do need to physically strengthen the team as that does need improvement. Tom made a difference when he replaced Seri showing more creativity.
We were not at our best today by any stretch of the imagination and lessons have to be learned. We were lacking energy and urgency and under the circumstances I am just glad we did not lose as i think Silva and Boe would have combusted and burst into flames.

Plus don't forget Tom made the tackle which lead to the goal.

I imagine we might not have Ream fit for Tuesday based on the horrific cut he's got following the clash of heads at the end of the game. Don't look at this if you're eating your dinner; https://www.instagram.com/p/CbA9GD0NprG/?utm_medium=copy_link

Shocking post - with due respect I couldn't disagree more. We should have won the game comfortably today - created lots of chances - dominated the game and got done by a diabolical decision on an awful pitch. Had we scored first we would have won the game comfortably.
As for the poster - look where we are in the league and our goals scored. And by the way Tiganas league winning side couldn't win at Barnsley either - I was there - a 0-0 draw and it was awful.

Agreed - we are a work in progress & I've said that all season.

Ask Roger Brown about head cuts or Brian McBride about damage to his face

Well done Ream & all the best for the next game.

A point gained towards promotion. Lots still to do & a need to strengthen the team but well done & thanks to the current players for getting us in this position.

We are ahead of the pack & need to keep clear water between us & them.

...and the best thing about going up (fingers crossed)... is the standard of refereeing will never be as bad as today!!!!... if the ref makes a mistake VAR would have corrected it. That Ref doesn't have to explain himself or justify why he was so bad.... at least he will never ref in the Premier league...  he should stick to park football... he was an embarrassment.   Great away support as always and another goal closer to that magic 100 👍👍👍

Nasty team Barnsley, the amount of deliberate fouls in the second half at least 4 when we won possession and tried to break away, Mitro had 3 players around him all game, kicking, pulling his shirt, they kicked Fabio around the pitch as well, and the deliberate block on Nico in front of the 4th official and Lino.
We had more than enough chances to win today.

How come the ref never gave a foul when Ream was injured. It was a late challenge and he gave a drop ball.

Post by: ffc73 on March 13, 2022, 05:04:38 PM
It was an accidental collision, not a foul.

Too often now challenges like that are given as fouls & innocuous fouls get bookings. Ream did what players should do, got up & got on with the game.

VAR quite often DOESN'T correct the mistakes in the PL. Man City's clear handball against Everton proves that. Everyone, including Stevie Wonder said it was a stonewall pen.
