So who is coming up from the play offs? Or maybe it could be a penalty shoot out. Forest and Sheffield Utd are on a role but can Huddersfield or Luton spoil their party. 1500.gif 1500.gif 1500.gif 1500.gif
We want Luton or Huddersfield
Believe Huddersfield won 5 of their last 6 only dropping points with the draw against QPR. Hopefully Forest peaked too early we should definitely prefer Luton or Huddersfield to be promoted to hopefully enhance our chances of survival.
I would be more concerned as to who comes down. Preferably Leeds or Everton though latter look sure to stay up now . Burnley are by far the best scenario regards staying up. That then would create a possible mini league with Fulham , Bournemouth , play off winner , Brentford and Burnley. Finish in the top 2 and jobs done.

I don't disagree with you but it's a sad state of affairs if this is what we have to look forward to next season

I don't think this will be the case. It wasn't the case for Wolves, or Leeds, or Sheffield United, or Brentford this year. Things are not that binary in the PL so that we can beat some teams and can't beat some others. When we went out without a fight under Parker we still managed to beat both Liverpool clubs away, for example.
Also, under that reasoning Leeds or Everton should not have been in their current situation, but yet they are.
A few teams always beats expectations, and a few always disappoints. We need to make sure we belong to the former and not the latter.

They should actually have a play off at the bottom of the Premiership. Relegation from the Premiership is very 'scruffy'. They need to make it a showpiece, sometimes more interesting then what happens at the top.
I want Forest to go up.
Whether you like it or not it is never going to be any better in the first season than struggle or bottom half. In the second season the bigger clubs come for your players and you have to rebuild. It then depends on what quality you are able to bring in.
I'd be surprised if it wasn't Forest who win the playoffs
Luton's league match against Forest was a 90mph bodies on the line effort. Amazing commitment by both teams and it must be remembered that Luton won 1-0.

While likely to be the case, it is just not true that it can never be better. I have already mentioned several examples from the last few years of clubs that have completely avoided a first season struggle.
We can beat all of these if recruitment is done properly.
So nice to be able to sit back and relax as a promoted team and watch this tense scrap over the next few weeks for tis third promotion place. The value to the winner is said to be over a hundred million but they immediately become relegation favourites.
Surely Luton to come up will suite us best , they nicely replace Watford as almost a local derby.
2 million percent it's better coming up through the play offs then finishing 2nd.
The team with least financial clout please.
Notts Forest has the momentum, that's a huge thing. They were bottom when Cooper took over.

Had momentum, lost at Bournemouth drew at Hull. Huddersfield have won their last 4, Sheffield United have won their last 3.
On Saturday going into the 97th minute Forest were due to play Luton in the play offs, then dramatically Hull City grabbed a last gasp equaliser meaning that Forest now play Sheffield United, that equaliser could be costly for Forset, so I'm going for a Huddersfield v Sheffield United Final, with The Blades sneaking it.

Loser mentality
Won't get us very far
I think Sheff Utd will do it. They will beat Huddersfield in the final.
If Huddersfield or Luton are promoted I think they be the whipping boys of the division, but the money they make will set them for the next few years if they are careful, Luton might even get the new ground they been talking about for years, I also think either team could be this season's Barnsley, getting to the playoffs and struggling next season, I'm pretty sure the winner will come from Sheffield United or Nottm Forest, I think if Forest don't make it they will struggle to keep all the players that have been good for them this season that are on loan to them, Forest and Sheffield United have done well to get to the playoffs, both started poorly got rid of there managers and improved, I'm not really bothered who get promoted, but like I said in another post, if Forest get promoted the papers will be all over them, Brian Clough, Stuart Pearce, two European cups blah, blah, blah, and with Parker been popular with the media, they might leave us alone,
Luton or Huddersfield in an ideal world, just better for football as Forest fall into the same category as Leeds of self-entitled big club that underachieve and make that everyone else's issue and Sheff Utd sacked Slav so I don't like them for that reason alone. As per a few posts above I think both Luton & Hudds will struggle as well so even better for us, but Luton in the PL would be a good back story considering their fall from the top division and then making it back on a very small budget.
I think that to say Huddersfield will struggle applies a similar logic to calling us a yo yo club and saying Mitro can't hack it in the premier league. He hasn't been able to hack it for the simple reason of how we set ourselves up. If he played for West Ham he would be a 20 goal striker but with us, he won't find the net as often.
We can stay in the league with the right acquisitions proving the lazy pundits wrong. Huddersfield have a very good manager and have performed brilliantly in the last couple of months. They will be in the same boat as us next season if they were to go up. I expect us Bournemouth and whoever comes up to be in the bottom 5 or 6 next season (not sticking my neck out far with that prediction) so survival will be down to whether we can grind out more points than our relegation rivals.
As I lived in Dunstable for 14 Years, it's Luton for me.

Would be lovely for them to get into the big time.

I agree with what you posted but I think Forest and Sheffield United will have a better chance of attracting better players to their club than Huddersfield so possibly making them stronger.
I don't disagree Mick. Playing at Forest is normally a hard game for us. I just don't think it is a given that Huddersfield will be this year's Norwich.

Let's not forget in the late 80s / early 90s they were a top division side and got to two cup finals, winning the League Cup once.
No team in the Premier League is a walk over, don't forget that. We haven't faired amazingly well this season against the teams in the top six, so we need to bring in some quality to stand half a chance.
