Title: Visa for Lukic
Post by: RAY Rock ???? on February 02, 2023, 05:19:19 PM
Potter says Enzo Fernández is available for the Fulham game but Lukic agent says he ie awaiting a visa . Can anyone explain what the difference between these two players is as both play in Europe if anything Fernandez should have to wait longer as he isn't European. Or has our HR department dropped the ball .

Is it to do with the number of games played for the same club?

2 mins research to find the truth or come and have an uninformed moan on FoF, what would a troll do?

1 has signed for Chelsea and the other for us, that should give you a clue (if true).

I'm not sure why fans (of all clubs) are desperate for a new signing to play so soon after signing.

My view is that a player should have at least a couple of training sessions with his new teammates before even be considered for the bench, let alone to start a match.  There would be exceptions - such as an injury crisis or relegation battle, which would maybe necessaitate a player to be thrown straight in, but clearly that doesn't apply either to us or tomorrow night's opponents.

I think Lukic should travel with the team and be able to watch the game with other squad members - purely as spectator.  I don't really care what Potter decides, but if Fernandez starts the game and gets a red card early in the game that would suit me!

Haha - enjoyed that! Happens a lot. I'm not completely innocent either in fairness, but really doesn't take much time to just google yourself.

Obviously he will travel with the team and I would assume will be on the bench, if he isn't we only have Cairney as a midfield, that would be worrying.

He's fit enough to be an unused sub on the bench at the least. He's clearly got ability and can make a difference, so may as well have him on the bench just in case, if he's up to it.

Our bench has also had Chalobah on it recently who now isn't here. so by default he should probably be on there as backup DM at the very least

Should I start warming up

Really can't see any reason Silva would think of playing either of those two new signings tomorrow. Surely they need at least a week's bedding in time and even then they would be replacing either Tete and Periera who are better players.
The earliest  first match for the new men is off the bench against Sunderland.

I think it is broadly accepted that Lukic is more direct equivalent to Reed than Pereira; and I would prefer to watch him in black and white kit before judging who is superior

Yes, Lukic is more of an 8. He can play where Palhinha and Andreas play right now but his best position would be where Reed plays.

Don't think they are eligible for replay as they weren't at the club when original tie took place

Depends on how intelligent he thinks they are and good as players. Lukic has the benefit of having played quite regularly with Mitro and is a deeper lying CM with Pereira further forward, so winning tackles, playing quick one twos and passing through the lines etc is important and what he's good at.

Soares has played with and knows a few of the players at the club already, don't know how that plays into an actual game, but believe he's trained with Willian, Leno, Harrison Reid etc, which as a RB (if willian played RW) could see him fit in OK with some familiarity.

Both should be on the bench tomorrow.
No reason why they should not.

I agree on the bench and last 20 if they are needed

I'm am very confident that both will be on bench, both won't come on unless they really need to and both will start versus Sunderland.

Neither can play v Sunderland because only players eligible for the original tie can play in the replay

Surely all work permit details were sorted well ahead of us spending millions on Lukic so his debut depends just on Silva deciding when he is ready football wise.

It's funny how it seems Chelsea want to beat us so badly that before playing us twice they are spending funny money to bring in new players the day before we play them 😂 I know it's not because it's us, but the timing
