I was listening to Adam Buxton's podcast last night and he was interviewing Jesse Armstrong, writer of Succession, Peep Show, 4 Lions and others - and Armstrong mentioned the strangely English construction of the 'You're not fit to referee' chant. Buxton pressed him to reveal which club he supported. After admitting he grew up as a ManUre fan in Shropshire, he said he now watches and supports Fulham. Buxton asked him what the profile of a Fulham fan was like and he said (laughing) - a Man United fan with a Fulham ST! So he's admitting his JCL status but seems genuine.

Thanks for posting.
Very much admire his writing - in Peep Show, and then the brilliant Succession.
He probably lives in the area, but great that he now goes to games and calls himself a Fulham fan though.
I think we have a high percentage of celeb fans - ones who actually got to games, rather than saying they follow a team because it's fashionable to say that.
Amazing news! Armstrong is a genius.
I hope he won't be wearing a half and half scarf when we play them!
::bump:: I'm rewatching The Thick Of It on BBC iplayer at the moment and Jesse Armstrong was the main writer , or one of them. His command of sweary English language (albeit through the Glaswegian mouthpiece of Malcolm Tucker) is mind-boggling. We are truly honoured to count him as a Fulham fan.
Peep Show is my favourite comedic show of all time.
Great to know he's seen the light ::scarf::
Celebrity?
Never heard of her!

During Covid I drew up a list of TV shows/Films where Fulham were supported by one of the main characters or at least
were worthy of mention.
These included: Dangerman (one episode was filmed at the ground and Patrick MCgoohan had to impersonate a Fulham fan). An episode of Yes Minister was also shot at the ground as was an episode of Softly Softly.
Budgie, Magic Roundabout, Thick as Thieves, Beryl's Lot, The Sweeney, Minder, Citizen Smith, Moving Story, the Singing Detective, Angels, Stephen Lawrence, Emmerdale, Three Up, Two Down, Cold Lazarus, Fox, 55 Degrees North, Man about the House. Poor Cow, the for charity rerun of Four Weddings.
No doubt there are others.

Tyson Fury, Andy Murray and Benicio Del Toro? I've never heard of any of them being fans before now? It would be nice to have some kind of reference for each one
Why are all the fictional fans losers? Is it something about Fulham?

I'm guessing your question was rhetorical, but just in case:
I imagine it's because we are a team that reflects the ""underdog"" protagonist. One who never has a lot to cheer about in life (at least at the the time that their story is told). But where there is always hope
