Title: Tuesday Fulham Stuff - 30/01/24...
Post by: WhiteJC on January 29, 2024, 11:23:39 PM
'Nothing compares to seeing the Cottage'
Saturday was a strange day. Thousands of Fulham fans decided not to go and do the thing they love – supporting the side – out of frustration at the club's crazy ticketing policy. We then watched as the fanbase was gaslit on national television, with Fulham insisting that £40 for a televised game on a Saturday night was 'not excessive' and then used the recent run of home fixtures to justify an apparent attendance of under 19,000, which was inflated by the giving away of thousands of tickets. Shades of when Mohamed Al-Fayed's 'very expensive consultants' told us the future was at Loftus Road, White City and somewhere else rather than at the Cottage.

A few years ago, when I merely read the Fulham blogosphere rather than contributing to it, I really enjoyed The Craven Corner. It seems as if the latest ticketing debacle has inspired Ad out of retirement as he has written a passionate piece on why Fulham's board have got it badly wrong. It is well worth a read on this grey Monday morning.

Football is nothing without fans..
Sometimes the 140 or 280 character limit on Twitter just isn't enough to talk about Fulham Football Club...

So make sure you have a fresh cup of coffee to hand (biscuits optional) and let's get into it.

Last summer, the fear of FFP and Mitro's departure...
After the highs of last season, it's quite a surprise to think that there is a general feeling of unrest amongst the fan base. Especially, when everything felt so different less than twelve months ago. So how did we get here?

Well, I'm sure you've all seen the news in the last few months around PSR, FFP and club sustainability – with Everton being docked 10 points being the main headline.

This resulted in shockwaves being sent through many other Premier League clubs, including Fulham.

Obeying the rules of PSR & FFP isn't a new challenge but one that has reared it's ugly head more so than ever before. After one club's accounts gets punished, the stage is set and more clubs are put under the microscope.

After Everton's punishment, it emerged that the Toffees breached the rules again, but this time they were not alone as Nottingham Forest were also found guilty of a similar breach.

I won't dwell on the financial details and how that operates though, so I'll leave that to Pete Rutzler and his terrific article on The Athletic, which takes a deeper look at how Fulham escaped punishment.

In short, The Athletic covers a few key points:

Fulham sailed incredibly close to the boundaries of FFP
With Fulham being in the Championship + Premier League during the current account period, the amount we can afford to lose is much lower than other clubs around us like Crystal Palace – who have been in the PL throughout that time period.
Last, but not least – "...the sale of Aleksandar Mitrovic, for £45m, was finalised after this accounting period (ending June 30, 2023) and will only count on next year's books."

This makes for interesting reading.

Due to our stint in the Championship during this period, our losses could not exceed £83m compared to those that had been in the Premier League for same accounting period, who could lose up to £105m for the same time frame. That may not sound like a lot – but when you are competing with clubs around you, you are already playing catchup, as well as being under tighter scrutiny as other clubs can afford to lose £22m more than you.

Lastly on this point, Fulham's squad was looking incredibly thin when last season concluded, without the departure of Mitrovic. So any funds for that previous accounting period, had to go towards filling other positions and upon reflection (player by player) the arrivals have been good – although, Adama Traore is probably the exception given his absence.

I also get the impression that the club were hoping the Mitrovic deal would have been completed sooner, and not dragged out so that a replacement potentially could have been found with that money during that window.

Unfortunately, the reality of it was that the deal took a number of weeks as Fulham held firm over their valuation despite his wishes to leave.

If I try to be optimistic around it – it does mean a new accounting period + the Mitrovic money should become available in the summer if we secure our Premier League status for another season. If that is the case, we have the owners in place that do have the financial muscle to complete the much needed rebuild that Marco Silva's squad needs – especially for a few younger faces in numerous positions. If that doesn't happen, then I think bigger questions could be asked.

But let's get into the main topic of why I decided to blow the dust off this blog one more time.

Football is a rich man's game, but it doesn't have to be for fans...
For those that haven't followed, over the last 12 months or so, the club have started to price the fans out of the game and it simply has to stop.

Yes, we can try to blame inflation, the cost of living crisis and quite frankly, the disturbing numbers that it takes to run a football club – but without fans, we don't have football as we know it.

It may be possible to sell some tickets for higher prices, but it comes with a trade off. A stadium full of tourists may sell tickets when you are playing the bigger teams, but the same tourists aren't the people that will travel across the country, through thick and thin, regardless of the opponent or fixture importance.

It's more than just a game or an afternoon's entertainment. It's the endless singing and support, the feeling of community and belonging, the hope and dreams of seeing your team on a cup run or forming their own underdog story. It's bringing your friends or family to the game with you, or trying to persuade the next generation to follow in your footsteps as a Fulham fan.

If your pricing strategy prevents that and focuses on short-term tourists and holiday makers, then you lose that long-term growth and atmosphere that a sold out Craven Cottage can provide.

While it's down to the playing staff to do the business on the pitch. A sold out home crowd can be the difference between winning and losing a game, and with that comes better revenue generated from league positions or entering new competitions.

When that happens, it doesn't matter if you are playing 2-3 times a week, the crowd keeps coming, and the tickets remain sold as fans are absorbed about the journey their beloved club is undertaking.

I may be bias, but our club and stadium is something special.

It's the perfect mix of the game that we all know and love today, and the stories that our parents, grandparents all fell in love with all those years ago.

Nothing can compare to seeing the Cottage in the corner, the wooden seats, the view of the Thames and how close you are to the action. Combine that with the new Riverside stand and very few clubs can offer a comparable matchday experience for fans and their players.

For some players, it's that exact experience that keeps them at the club for so long or is the reason that they join the club in the first place over anyone else. Tom Cairney and Joao Palhinha spring to mind.

That may not be the case for every pro footballer, and I'm sure everyone has their price. But, even at the end of the spectrum where footballers are getting blank cheques in Saudi Arabia – some of the big names already want to leave after six months because playing in front of stadiums with empty seats and no atmosphere isn't motivational or exciting.

You could say I'm being dramatic or over exaggerating, but fans are already choosing to vote with their feet and not stomach the extortionate prices that are being asked.

Price them out, and suddenly the stands become quieter and the players lose that connection with the club too. If that happens, what do we have left?

To be clear, I'm not expecting every game to be sold out, it just doesn't happen given how crazy the fixture lists can get.

Our cup game against Newcastle is the prime example for this.

Without the greedy prices, there were already challenges to overcome with getting the fans to attend:

    Friday night football
Televised on mainstream TV – ITV
The 3rd of 4 home fixtures in January

So to charge £40 for an adult ticket, the most expensive ticket price for all the games in that round of the cup, is pure greed.

Even though I try my hardest to see both sides of an argument, I really can't defend the strategy here.

Yes, you could argue that it raises the revenue of the football club. But the damage it does to the fanbase and those that are a part of the club are worth more than that.

Some quick maths will show:

19,000 (Newcastle attendance) x £40 a ticket = £760,000*

25,700 (Full capacity) x £20 a ticket = £514,000*

*Pie in the sky figures, but hopefully you catch my drift

Yes, the higher pricing strategy works if your sole goal is to increase match day revenues, but business isn't that simple or linear.

Sometimes it's worth taking a hit on the figures if you are building a more sustainable future and bringing more people to Fulham Football Club.

As I mentioned earlier, football is a generation game, your love for a club is generally passed down by loved ones but if you are no longer able to afford watching your club, then some people turn to alternative avenues and slowly Fulham isn't the priority anymore.

In the past, when prices have been more reasonable I've taken many friends, family and loved ones to Craven Cottage – heck, I even managed to get a group of us to go to our home loss to Sheffield United in the cup all those years ago. My friends haven't let me live it down, but despite the result, have come back to Craven Cottage a number times since.

If you replace the Fulham fans with 'wealthy tourists' – you lose more than just a few fans. You lose the network of people that fans bring to games, reducing the number of potential long-term fans that could become a part of the community today, tomorrow and much further in the future.

It'd be like creating a website that works really well, but instead of focusing on the product, you chase ad revenue instead. Therefore you chase the money, sell more ad-space on your website, and as a result the experience changes for the worse. In the short-term the revenue is higher, but in the long-term your customers go elsewhere and it becomes very hard to bring them back once they've been pushed out.

Fan loyalty isn't a myth, it's a real thing and needed by every club in the football leagues. So when you have a dedicated group of fans, they have to be a top priority when you think about long-term growth of the club. Even more so, when you are competing in London with so many other clubs a few train stations away.

If you need another example of how important fans are, just look at Bradford City – they've been through multiple administrations and failed strategies, yet they still get over 15,000 fans in League Two. That club is proof that fan support isn't a temporary thing. They've stuck by their club through some of the hardest times in football and despite being 18th in League Two are there every week trying to drive their club forward.

Maybe the tourist pricing is something the club could offer in the future, for a sub-section of seats in the new stand once it's complete. But, in no case should our fans be replaced. We're meant to be a family club, and that should remain at our core and should be thought about more given the situation.

As for a solution, I don't have an immediate one but it's clear that club and fans need to be reunited once more if we truly want to move forward.

If that means that more of us have to speak up about the pricing situation then we simply have to. If that means more organised protests, letters and whatever is possible it has to happen. It shouldn't and doesn't have to be handled this way, but the club also has to be more active in discussing options and finding the right solution for all.

Both club and fanbases require each other to have a great relationship. Without the fans, you don't have a football club – just an expensive athletic event without any sense of meaning or belonging.

I could go on and on about this, so if you've got this far and want to discuss it further, reach out – I'd love to hear from you!

On a personal note, to anyone that has taken the time to read this – I appreciate your time, and I hope it's been an enjoyable read.

Fulham vs Everton team news: seven players out and three more doubtful for Premier League clash - gallery
Everton and Fulham injury news ahead of the Craven Cottage fixture.

Everton's focus turns back to their Premier League relegation battle when they make the trip to Fulham on Tuesday (19.45 GMT).

The Toffees exited the FA Cup after suffering a 2-1 loss at the hands of Luton Town last weekend. Sean Dyche's side were well below their best throughout the encounter and a 96th-minute Cauley Woodrow goal sent Everton out of the historic competition.

Regardless, staying in the Premier League is the Blues' chief aim this season and that's now where their full focus will be. Everton feel they shouldn't be in a scrap at the foot of the table whatsoever, yet a 10-point deduction for breaching Premier League financial rules means they're just one place and one point above the drop zone.

Dyche's side have not won in their previous four top-flight fixtures - and proven triumphant in just one of their past eight matches in all competitions - and must get back to the form that means they should sit 12th in the table.

Fulham also went out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 reverse against Newcastle and have been victorious in only one of their past five league games. Ahead of the Craven Cottage encounter, here's a look at the early team news for both sides.

1. Fulham vs Everton team news.

2. Adama Traore - out
The winger has played just five times since signing for Fulham from Wolves. He has a hamstring issue.

3. Alex Iwobi - out
Representing Nigeria at AFCON so won't face his former side.

4. Calvin Bassey - out
The defender is also at AFCON with Nigeria.

5. Fode Ballo-Toure - out
The AC Milan loanee is at AFCON with Senegal.

6. Dele - out
The midfielder is still to play for Everton this season. Dele was recently to have further surgery on a groin issue.

7. Abdoulaye Doucoure - out
The midfielder has hamstring injury and Dyche has already ruled him out of Everton's two games this week.

8. Idrissa Gana Gueye - out
The midfielder is on AFCON duty with Senegal.

9. Andre Gomes - out
The midfielder has a calf injury, having missed four months of the season with a similar issue.

10. Seamus Coleman - doubt
The Everton captain has a niggling hamstring issue that's resulted in him missing the past three games.

11. Amadou Onana - minor doubt
The Belgium international suffered a knock against Luton but Dyche wasn't overly concerned.

Fulham unlikely to let Rodrigo Muniz leave during January transfer window
Striker attracting interest from Europe and Brazil

Rodrigo Muniz would prefer to stay in Europe if he leaves on loan this week, but Fulham are now unlikely to sanction his exit.

Muniz started the season as Fulham's third-choice striker, but he has since moved ahead of fellow Brazilian Carlos Vinicius to become Raul Jimenez's main understudy.

He has made 16 appearances for the Cottagers this season, featuring in four of their last five league games.

Muniz had wanted to make a loan move this month in order to get more game time, but he favoured staying in Europe despite offers from at least two clubs back in Brazil.

In recent weeks, there has also been European interest in Muniz, but Fulham are reluctant to let him go, with Marco Silva increasingly turning to him off the bench.

The 22-year-old signed for Fulham from Flamengo in August 2021 and spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough in the Championship, scoring twice in 18 matches.

His only goal for Fulham this season came in November's 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Ipswich Town.

Fulham are yet to make any signings in the January transfer window, while their only departure has seen highly rated 18-year-old midfielder Luke Harris join Exeter City on a six-month loan.

Fulham Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Bennacer, O'Riley, Braithwaite

We know the Khans and their recruitment team act late on, and as the countdown to Deadline Day is in singular numbers, we'll just have to wait and see, like the obedient 'customers' we are. We doubt much – if anything – will happen at all but here's Cam's penultimate January transfer rumour round-up, a month-long period which has been ridiculously boring to say the very least.

Ismael Bennacer – AC Milan

Disclosed by the Daily Mail, Fulham allegedly sent scouts to watch AC Milan's Ismael Bennacer at the Africa Cup of Nations as his country, Algeria, played out a 1-1 draw with Angola in their opening game. Having recovered from a nasty knee injury, the 26-year-old has five league appearances for Milan this season and there's signs he's returning to his best for both club and indeed the Fennec Foxes.

A holding midfielder by trade, Bennacer is a tireless warden both on and off the ball and as he's chasing a Scudetto with Il Rossonero, as well as competing in the Champions League, the Whites have a seismic challenge on their hands if they're to lure the former Empoli man to Stevenage Road. He was also voted the Player of the Tournament at the previous AFCON tournament, so he is most definitely a player of esteem and prestige and he will not come cheap.

Aaron Ciammaglichella – Torino

Try saying this kid's name after a few swifties. Well-known Italian outlet Tuttosport understand that while Fulham are watching Torino starlet Aaron Ciammaglichella closely, the 18-year-old midfielder is going nowhere because the Turin-based side claim he is "untouchable". Ciammaglichella's contract expires in 2025, he is yet to make a senior appearance for Torino but he has been called-up to Ivan Juric's first-team training sessions, so it surely won't be long until he introduces himself properly to the Serie A stage.

Recognising the Italy U19 international's burgeoning talent, Il Toro's youth team manager Ruggero Ludergnani is hoping to renew the youngster's deal and as the player and his representatives hold a good relationship with the club, it's expected he'll remain The Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino to further his development as one of the country's top prospects.

Matt O'Riley – Celtic

Always with an ear to the ground, HITC Football are under the impression that Crystal Palace, Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham will spar it out for Celtic's Matt O'Riley, who we know all too well in SW6. There evidently isn't a shortage of Premier League interest in the Denmark international and as he's tried and tested in Europe, it's thought there's plenty of continental suitors, too

OGC Nice, Lille, Napoli, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and La Liga leaders Girona are also said to be admirers of O'Riley, and the noise surrounding the 23-year-old is fully merited. His goal contributions for Celtic are excellent, he's netted 10 goals and supplied 12 for Brendan Rogers' side in all competitions so far and he is primed to broaden those statistics by a distance. Scott Parker has blood on his hands. In today's market, he's got to be worth at least £30m and if the funds were readily available, I'd pay way over the odds to bring him back to the Cottage.

Jhon Cordoba – Krasnodar

A report published by the Evening Standard suggests that Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace Everton and Fulham are mulling over the possibility of loaning in Krasnodar striker Jhon Cordoba. It's expected that if an agreement was to be met, a £7m option to buy clause would also be included in the small print and while the Russian top-flight isn't the most taxing division in existence, Cordoba's undeniably been in fine form in front of the target.

The 30-year-old Colombian has bagged 11 goals in 20 outings for Krasnodar this term, it's thought he is angling for a January switch to the Premier League but dealing with a Russian club, for obvious reasons, could prove to be complicated. I can't say I'm particularly wooed by this story but it isn't the worst whisper I've ever heard so if something was to come of it, I wouldn't be disappointed or moved, just neutral.

Charlie Patino – Arsenal

Those at FootballTransfers have been informed that Fulham allegedly made an early-window offer for Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino, who is currently on loan at Championship side Swansea City. The 20-year-old has been a top performer for the Swans this season and despite the prospect of blooding him at a higher level, Arsenal have no intention of ending the player's stay in south Wales.

So, this is a non-starter, but Patino is undoubtedly a playmaker we should keep in our sights because he is growing into a very handy midfielder. As Arsenal's middle third is laden with world-class options, a loan move could suit both Patino and the Gunners next term and if he's available, we should do our best to snap him up, even if it's only for a season or so.

Petar Musa – SL Benfica

Portuguese publication Record state that Brentford, Wolves and Fulham are set to miss out on Benfica's Petar Musa, as the striker's January switch to Ligue 1 side Lille OSC is imminent. The report claims Lille are 'gaining advantage' in the race for the 25-year-old's signature and as Benfica recently landed Marcos Leandro from Brazilian side Santos, Musa is seemingly surplus to requirement at the Estadio da Luz.

The Croatian striker has netted five goals and provided two in 25 Liga NOS appearances for As Águias this season, he's a physical striker that comes to life in the penalty area but as none of the English sides actually tabled a bid, Les Dogues have a clear pathway to securing their prime attacking target in the next few days.

Ederson – Atalanta BC

Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, football broadcaster Ben Jacobs has revealed that while Tottenham Hotspur should go all-out for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, the north Londoners could face fierce competition from multiple clubs across Europe, including Fulham.

Jacobs said: "Wolves don't want to lose Gomes, Ederson does have some legs, Atleti have looked historically but are looking at other targets, Juventus are also in the race, and I'm also told that Fulham are looking and they're still in the market for some sort of central midfielder."

Previously a Brazil U20 representative, Ederson is seen as one of Atalanta's brightest assets and from a roaming midfield role, the 24-year-old has registered 5 goals and an assist in 21 Serie A outings. It's likely La Dea will demand a minimum sum of £30m if they're to allow Ederson to depart and as our money could be spent better elsewhere, we should let it be and move on. Over to you, Spurs et al.

Martin Braithwaite – RCD Espanyol

As well as Manchester United and Chelsea, HITC have been told that Arsenal, Wolves, West Ham and Fulham are also on the hunt for Espanyol's heavily experienced striker Martin Braithwaite, who has scored 11 goals in 21 outings in the Segunda Division. His tally makes him the Spanish second tier's top scorer and they have helped fire Espanyol to fourth in the standings thus far.

The Denmark international is no stranger to English football, having been a Middlesbrough player between 2017 to 2019, and he had also turned out for FC Barcelona from 2020 to 2022. It's thought Braithwaite could be up for grabs for a paltry £5m due to his release clause, however his deal at the Catalonian club does run until 2025, so it's not yet known whether he will actually seek an exit for definite, not if promotion to La Liga is still a possibility.

Can Uzun – FC Nurnberg

Subject to a Chronicle Live report, Premier League quartet Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Everton and Fulham are eyeing Nurnberg's €10m-rated striker Can Uzun. As well as the aforementioned English teams, though, German Bundesliga sides Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Eintrach Frankfurt are potential suitors, and La Liga duo Sevilla and Villarreal CF have also been cited.

So, the 18-year-old hotshot is turning heads, a lot of them, and with good reason. The teenager has a very impressive haul in the 2.Bundesliga, 8 goals and an assist in 17 appearances to be exact, and with numbers like that, it surely won't be long until the Turkey U21 attacker's purchased by an elite set-up, and if his representatives are smart, they'll know Motspur Park is the perfect proving ground for fresh, raw talents such as Uzun. Pie in the sky thinking, mind.

Loan Round-Up: Wickens' Penalty Heroics
George Wickens marked his Scottish Premiership debut by making two penalty saves in Ross County's 1-0 loss away at Celtic.

The Staggies fell behind in the first minute, but Wickens kept his side in it by getting down well to push away Luis Palma's spot-kick.

And when the referee ordered a retake following player encroachment, he dived the same way to thwart Palma once more.

Jay Stansfield featured in Birmingham's first loss under new boss Tony Mowbray, as they were beaten 3-0 by Leicester in the FA Cup.

In League One, Kieron Bowie played the full match as Northampton went down 2-0 to Shrewsbury, while Martial Godo was used as a second-half sub in Wigan's 3-2 loss to Stevenage.

Meanwhile, a slight hamstring strain kept Luke Harris out of Exeter's 2-1 win over Barnsley.

Olly Sanderson came on in the 77th minute of Sutton's 1-1 draw away at Walsall in League Two, his second appearance for the U's.

In the Bundesliga, Kevin Mbabu registered an assist in Augsburg's 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The full-back delivered an excellent cross for Ermedin Demirovic to head in, before Bayern's Harry Kane ultimately scored the winner.

Fulham's Riverside 'faux pas'
You would have expected the ticketing furore to feature in the weekend papers, but the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan denotes a lack of diversity in the promotion of the well behind schedule Riverside Stand on Saturday.

In this morning's Sports Agenda column, Keegan writes:

"An advert to promote the facilities featured in the new stand at Fulham's Craven Cottage has raised a few eyebrows.

The ad, by Portview Fit Out Specialists, shows the Thames-facing back of the eye-catching structure, with people enjoying the rooftop pool, sauna, gym and plush living and working spaces. However, one eagle-eyed watcher spotted that almost all of those featured have one thing in common – they all appear to be white."

Following hot on the heels of the white flags that made the Johnny Haynes Stand look like it was staging a Klu Klux Klan convention rather than the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday, it puts a whole new spin on 'Come on Whites'.

Fulham vs Everton: Prediction and Preview
Back in danger of Premier League relegation, Sean Dyche will be hoping for more away-day success as we look ahead to Tuesday's Premier League clash with our Fulham vs Everton prediction and preview.

Fulham vs Everton Stats: The Quick Hits

The Opta supercomputer predicts Fulham to triumph against Everton, with the Craven Cottage hosts triumphing in 41.8% of pre-match simulations.
Fulham are looking to complete their first ever league double over Everton in the 30th campaign in which these teams have met.
Only Liverpool and Manchester City can better Everton's five Premier League away wins this term.

Match Preview
Everton may have thought Premier League relegation fears were easing after four straight wins in December but they are back flirting with Championship football next season again ahead of Tuesday's visit to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Sean Dyche's side rallied in response to their 10-point deduction, which the club have appealed, for breaches of Premier League financial and sustainability rulings after beating Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Burnley in a spirited pre-Christmas run.

However, Everton – who could face further penalties from the league after being charged again recently along with Forest – sit just one point above 18th-placed Luton Town heading into Matchday 22 after defeats against Tottenham, Manchester City and Wolves before a goalless draw with Aston Villa in their last league outing at Goodison Park.

Jordan Pickford was impressive in the Matchday 21 draw with Unai Emery's in-form Villa, keeping a league-high seventh clean sheet of the season. The England goalkeeper will expect another tough examination at Craven Cottage on Tuesday, although Fulham have failed to score in nine different Premier League games this term – the most by any side in the competition.

Pickford leading the shutout charts may make people think Dyche's side are just sitting deep and putting up the barricades but only Tottenham (214) have made more high turnovers than Everton (208) in the Premier League this season, showing they are defending high up the pitch as well as protecting their own penalty area.

There are some principles that Dyche will not throw away in the modern-day game, however, with 33% of Everton's Premier League goals this season coming from corners (8/24), the highest share in the division. The Toffees keep it simple for their impressive set-piece returns. Just one of their 99 corners so far this term has been taken short, fewer than any other Premier League side.

As for the visitors' team news, Ashley Young and Séamus Coleman will likely return, albeit not straight into Dyche's lineup after injury. Dele Alli and Abdoulaye Doucouré remain out, while Idrissa Gueye is still away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal. André Gomes also missed Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Luton in the FA Cup fourth round at Goodison Park with an injury.

Fulham are seven points clear of Tuesday's opponents but are on a run of just one win in five Premier League games after beating Arsenal but losing against Newcastle, Burnley, Bournemouth and Chelsea. The latest defeat to their west London rivals at Stamford Bridge on Matchday 21 was tinged with frustration after Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto was fortunate to avoid a red card for a lunge on Willian before Cole Palmer's penalty proved the difference.

Marco Silva's side were also eliminated from the EFL Cup semi-finals by Liverpool as a 1-1 draw on Wednesday at Craven Cottage sent Jürgen Klopp's side into the final with Chelsea after a 3-2 aggregate triumph. There was more cup misery for Fulham on Saturday as they were dumped out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle.

In terms of selection, Silva has no real injury concerns – barring the hamstring issue for winger Adama Traoré – though Alex Iwobi, Fodé Ballo-Touré and Calvin Bassey remain at the Africa Cup of Nations. Tim Ream is back to full fitness but playing a backup role to centre-back pairing Diop and Tosin Adarabioyo, while there could be a milestone on Tuesday for Andreas Pereira. Former Manchester United playmaker Pereira could make his 100th Premier League appearance. No Fulham player has been involved in more league goals than him this season (five), while he's created more chances than any other player for the Cottagers.

Fulham vs Everton Head-to-Head
In what is the 30th different league campaign in which they've met, Fulham are looking to complete the league double over Everton for the very first time after Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored the winner in a 1-0 triumph at Goodison Park back in August.

Dyche's men will not just roll over at Craven Cottage, where Everton have lost only one of their last seven away league games against Fulham (W3 D3), having been beaten in nine of the 10 trips prior (W1).

The Toffees have enjoyed their visits down south, winning three of their four Premier League games in London this season, though they did lose last time out against Tottenham. Only in 2020-21 under Carlo Ancelotti (five) have Everton won more often in the capital in a single Premier League campaign.

Everton must watch out for Raúl Jiménez, however, as the Fulham striker has five Premier League goals against them – his most against an opponent in the competition – though all those strikes came in his first five appearances against the Toffees, failing to score in his last two against the blue half of Merseyside.

Recent Form
Craven Cottage has become a tough place to visit, with Fulham winning four of their last five Premier League home games (L1), against Arsenal, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Wolves, as many as in their previous 12 at Craven Cottage (D2 L6).

Indeed, each of the Cottagers' last six Premier League wins have come on home soil – including wins over Sheffield United and Luton – with their last away league win coming at Everton in the opening game of this season.

Everton may have fallen down the league table but only the current top two sides Liverpool (six) and Manchester City (seven) have won more Premier League away games this season than Everton (five).

In stark contrast to previous struggles, five away wins this term for Everton is already one more than they managed in the previous two campaigns combined (four).

Opta Power Rankings
The Opta Power Rankings are a global team ranking system that assigns an ability score to over 13,000 domestic football teams on a scale between zero and 100, where zero is the worst-ranked team in the world and 100 is the best team in the world.

Ahead of kick-off on Tuesday, here is the Opta Power Ranking for both sides:

Fulham vs Everton Prediction
(https://theanalyst.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/fulham-vs-everton-prediction.png)

The Opta supercomputer expects Fulham to win on Tuesday, with the hosts victorious in 41.8% of 10,000 pre-match simulations, compared to an Everton triumph in just 28.8%.

A draw appears to be slightly more likely than the visitors succeeding, with a stalemate occurring in 29.4% of data-led scenarios.

Everton currently have a 15.1% chance of going down in Opta's season simulations, with only Sheffield United (97.6%), Burnley (92.9%), Luton (52.6%) and Nottingham Forest (20.1%) seeing a greater likelihood.

Dyche Sends Everton 'Mindset' Message
Sean Dyche has welcomed the short turnaround between matches as his Everton side look to bounce back with a Premier League clash at Fulham on Tuesday night (7.45pm GMT kick-off).

The Toffees played out a competitive contest with the Hatters in Saturday's FA Cup meeting at Goodison Park and did well to battle back from going a goal down in the first half through an unfortunate Vitalii Mykolenko own goal to draw level through Jack Harrison shortly after the break.

Dyche's men upped the ante in the second half and looked the more likely side to go and win the tie, only for a stoppage-time Cauley Woodrow effort from a goalmouth scramble to condemn the Blues to a 2-1 defeat.

The players have to dust themselves down quickly when they travel to the capital for Tuesday's contest at Craven Cottage, and Dyche insists it's a chance for his squad to get back to winning ways.

"It's good in the sense that you are back on it, the mindset changes quickly," explained Dyche on the quick turnaround in matches. "We had a roll call Sunday, then it's a case of moving forward and getting the team prepped again. We want the team to be ready and raring to go - they know the fixture list. The challenge is when you have got so many injuries, that obviously challenges it with recovery time, fitness and availability.

"But I believe in all these players, regardless of injuries."

Saturday's defeat was Everton's first in 2024, ending a run of three solid results against Crystal Palace over two FA Cup meetings plus the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Despite the obvious disappointment of exiting the Cup on Saturday, Dyche is confident his team won't dwell on the setback and believes a return to league action will only incentivise the group further.

"It's a different ball game I think," said Dyche comparing Cup and league action. "The Cup is a different mentality - I said it in the last round. You feel it in the crowd as well, there is a different feel to the cups.

"It's nobody's fault, it is just the way it is, the players feel different, it's not the Premier League. There is a different buzz and feel about it.

"Obviously, in the latter stages, it grows in terms of intensity but there is a different feeling to it. So I think the players will be naturally responding differently and I want them to on Tuesday night."

    Sean Dyche
I believe in all these players, regardless of injuries

This will already be the third meeting between Everton and Fulham this season, with each of the previous two coming at Goodison Park and ending in narrow defeats for the Blues. The first, on the opening day of the campaign, saw Everton lose 1-0 despite a dominant display in which Dyche's men registered 19 shots while Fulham managed to convert from just one of their two on target.

December's Carabao Cup quarter-final meeting followed in a similar vein, with the Toffees enjoying the best of the goalmouth action but eventually going on to draw 1-1 and lose via a penalty shootout.

"They (Fulham) had a slow start this season because I thought we were excellent against them," said Dyche reflecting on the the two previous meetings. "But they got a result. I thought we were also excellent against them in the (Carabao) cup, and they got a result again, which is not ideal, obviously."

The Blues will look now for some deserved revenge at Craven Cottage. Dyche acknowledged that is not going to be an easy target to achieve given the London outfit have produced their best form in front of their own fans this season - each of their past six Premier League wins since beating Everton have come at home.

Away from, though, has been one of the team's biggest improvements under Dyche, with the Club's seven wins on the road across all competition this season being the most since they achieved 12 under Carlo Ancelotti in 2020/21.

"I think Fulham have grown into the season and found a bit more balance to how they play and how the manager wants them to play," added Dyche.

"They generally have a good home record, and it's never easy going away in the Premier League, anyway. But our away record is strong, so we want to go down there and whatever team we can put together, we want a team that can win the game."

Liverpool staff really impressed by 'special' Fulham player after his performance against them
It now seems as if Liverpool may have conducted an unexpected scouting mission when they beat Fulham last Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp's side won the game on aggregate, having drawn the second leg in a hotly contested tie at Craven Cottage.

And as the club begins to plan for life beyond Klopp, they are already busy drawing up targets for their next manager.

Liverpool have often been linked with Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson in the past, however, it was a different defender who caught their eye this time round.

According to Mail Sport's Transfer Confidential, Liverpool are now interested in signing Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo.

The imposing defender has enjoyed an extended run in Marco Silva's side of late, displaying all of his 'special' attributes.

And with his contract set to expire in the summer, interest is only going to intensify.

According to the report, Liverpool have now been monitoring Adarabioyo for some time but could face competition from the likes of AC Milan.

The former Manchester City defender is currently showing no signs of signing a new deal in West London, meaning a high-profile move could be on the horizon.

Liverpool now considering a move for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo
It'll certainly be interesting to see how Liverpool do approach their summer spending.

Perhaps their new manager will be announced before the season has been concluded – but that would make a move for Xabi Alonso or Roberto De Zerbi difficult.

It seems there's a lot to sort for the new boss, including the future of Mohamed Salah.

Perhaps the club even needs to seek certainty over the future of players such as Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson, Klopp's departure is bound to raise a few questions.

And although the German will leave the club in excellent shape, there will still be immediate jobs in the new manager's inbox.

Perhaps the new Liverpool manager will be quickly presented with a list of potential targets, including the likes of Fulham defender Adarabioyo.

There's a lot of ifs and buts right now, but the club will surely provide more clarity when possible.

Welcome Jay Williams

Manager Steve Morison had made a further addition to his squad with the signing of Fulham defender Jay Williams on a permanent deal.

A versatile defender who can play at centre back or right back, 20-year-old Jay has represented his native Wales across a number of age groups and has been at Fulham since August 2019, having signed from Newport County. In 2021 helped Fulham's Under-18 side to their league championship.

His father Gavin was capped twice at full international level for Wales and played for Hereford against Sutton in the Nationwide Conference in the 1999-2000 season.

We welcome Jay to the club - he will have the number 39.

Wilson out for 'two or three weeks'
Harry Wilson will be out of action for 'two or three weeks' after injuring his shoulder in Fulham's FA Cup exit at the hands of Newcastle United on Saturday, according to Marco Silva.

The Welsh winger had to be withdrawn before half-time having fallen awkwardly after a challenge by Dan Burn at the weekend and the Fulham head coach confirmed that the former Liverpool forward will be missing until at least mid-Feburary during his pre-match press conference earlier this afternoon.

Silva said:

"We're still assessing the players from [the weekend]. We played two games, really emotional games, and it took a lot of energy from ourselves. Unfortunately for us, Harry Wilson is going to be out for at least two or three weeks."

Fulham formulating new bid to sign Armando Broja

Fulham are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Chelsea striker Armando Broja this month and are preparing a fresh bid.
A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Fulham are preparing a fresh offer to sign Chelsea attacker Armando Broja. The Cottagers will compete with Aston Villa and West Ham United for the 22-year-old. Fulham had initially offered a loan deal with an obligation clause worth £25 million. But Chelsea want around £35 million.

Armando Broja Needs a Move
Broja has not been a regular starter for Chelsea this season, and he needs to leave the club to play regularly. A move to Fulham could be ideal for him. The Londoners need attacking reinforcements, and the Chelsea striker could prove to be a quality long-term investment.

Raul Jimenez has not been at his best this season, and Fulham will need to bring in an upgrade soon. They have struggled to score goals this season, and signing a quality attacker could make a huge difference for them in the final third. The 22-year-old would get ample game time at Fulham as well, and it could help him develop further and fulfil his potential.

Aston Villa, West Ham Also Want Broja
Meanwhile, Aston Villa need to add more depth to their attacking unit. They have been overly reliant on Ollie Watkins for goals, and the England international has been in splendid form. However, Unai Emery needs more depth in the side so that he can rotate his key players.

Broja would be an interesting acquisition for them. The Chelsea prospect has shown his quality during a loan spell at Southampton in the past and he is certainly good enough to play for clubs like Fulham, Aston Villa and West Ham.

The Hammers will need to bring in a quality striker who can lead the line for them. Michail Antonio has looked like a shadow of his former self recently and Danny Ings has had availability issues. David Moyes needs to invest in a quality striker and the Chelsea player would be superb option. It will be interesting to see where the talented young striker ends up eventually.

All three clubs would represent an excellent opportunity for the young striker, and he needs to focus on his development for now. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are prepared to let him leave the club before the January window slams shot.

Team News: Wilson Sidelined
Marco Silva confirmed that Harry Wilson is set for a spell on the sidelines, after the winger went off in the first half against Newcastle United on Saturday.

"Unfortunately for us, he's going to be another absence for the [Everton] match," he confirmed.

"We have been able to really well take care of our players, which is good after that busy, busy December and January. We don't have many injuries – that is a good sign that we have been doing the things really well, and the players have been taking care of themselves well, too.

"This was a different one, was when he fell down in that moment [after being fouled], was in his shoulder – nothing muscular or something like that.

"But, unfortunately for us, he's going to be out at least two, three weeks. Let's hope not longer than that, but at least three weeks he's going to be out.

"The other player that is still out is Adama Traoré. Nice to see him back in the training with his teammates – soon we are going to see him back in the squad list."

Fulham vs Everton: How to watch live, stream link, team news, live updates
Fulham host Everton at Craven Cottage on Tuesday as both teams aim to get back on track after a bumpy period in league and cup play.

WATCH FULHAM v EVERTON LIVE
The Cottagers pushed Liverpool all the way in their recent League Cup semifinal both lost 3-2 over the two legs and were then punished for missing chances as they lost 2-0 at home in the FA Cup to Newcastle United on Saturday. Marco Silva's side have now lost five of their last eight games in all competitions, with three defeats in their last four in the Premier League. However, their last home league game was a shock win against Arsenal. Fulham are a funny team to figure out and sit in midtable as they aim for back-to-back top 10 finishes but could easily get sucked into the relegation scrap too.

Everton have regressed in recent weeks as they lost at home to Luton in the FA Cup at the weekend and Sean Dyche's side are without a win in their last four Premier League games, picking up just one point in that run. Add in being charged, again, with breaching financial rules by the Premier League and the dark clouds which looked to be departing Goodison have returned. After this slump in form they sit just one point above the relegation zone and badly need a win to get them back on track as the players' confidence seems to have been hit by the most recent financial charges against them.

How to watch Fulham vs Everton live, stream link and start time
Kick off: 2:45pm ET, Tuesday (January 30)
TV Channel: Peacock
Online: Stream via Peacock Premium

Focus on Fulham, team news
Fulham have some key players away at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Adama Traore continues to spend time on the sidelines since his summer arrival. Scoring goals has been a big problem for Fulham and they've tried Raul Jimenez, Rodrigo Muniz and Carlos Vinicius up top and only the former looks likely to get close to double figures for this season. Fulham have to keep this game tight and then hope the likes of Andreas Pereira, Willian or Bobby Decordova-Reid can open up Everton's defense on the counter.

OUT: Adama Traore (hamstring), Calvin Bassey (international duty), Alex Iwobi (international duty), Fode Ballo-Toure (international duty), Harry Wilson (muscle)

Focus on Everton, team news
Sean Dyche will be concerned with the lack of chances Everton are creating as their most recent Premier League outing against Aston Villa ended in a 0-0 draw and they missed the couple of the big chances they did create. There's a lot of pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to deliver the goods, while Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil are doing their best to create and support DCL in attack.

OUT: Idrissa Gana Gueye (international duty), Dele Alli (groin), Abdoulaye Doucoure (thigh) | QUESTIONABLE: Seamus Coleman (knock), Ashley Young (undisclosed), Andre Gomes (calf)

Bobby: Put It Right
Marco Silva hasn't hidden his admiration of Bobby De Cordova-Reid, labelling the forward as "tactically perfect".

The Jamaican international's versatility – he's appeared across the front three and been deployed in more defensive positions too – makes him fully deserving of that description.

"I think it's good for the manager because he may not have to make a sub – he can just move me around different positions!" Bobby explained.

"I consider myself a good listener, so when we're doing tactics I understand what different roles need, and I think the manager understands that and has trust in me.

"He's trusted me to do a lot of roles and trusts me on the pitch as a leader. I'm thankful for that and I want to keep repaying him with good performances."

Don't be fooled into thinking the 30-year-old is a mere utility man though; his five seasons at Fulham have been filled with tenacious displays and sprinkled with quality.

The first of the five goals he's notched this campaign came in the opening day win over Everton, the first of two victories so far over tomorrow's opponents.

"Obviously we've been doing well against Everton but that doesn't mean anything. We know what they're going to bring to the table.

"We have to exploit their weaknesses, but obviously go into the game with confidence and hopefully get the three points."

Sealing those three points to complete a Toffees treble would help heal the wounds from last week's cup exits at the hands of Liverpool and Newcastle.

"Unfortunately for us we didn't go through, but we'll take the lessons from it, move on and go again.

"I think we're prepared. We obviously want to put it right after two results that went against us. I think we need to get back on form and have that consistency going into the league."

Jay Williams can play at centre-back, right-back or in midfield
Sutton United have signed Fulham defender Jay Williams on a permanent contract.

The 20-year-old Wales youth international joined Fulham from Newport County in 2019 and won the Under-18 Premier League South with the London side in 2021.

He joins with Sutton 23rd in the League Two table and in the relegation zone, seven points from safety.

Their next match is against Harrogate Town on Tuesday.

The club have not specified the length of Williams' contract.

Fulham: Marco Silva rues loss of absent duo as cup runs end
Key players Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey remain at AFCON

Marco Silva admitted Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey have been "two big misses" for Fulham with the pair having been absent for the club's FA Cup and Carabao Cup exits due to Africa Cup of Nations commitments with Nigeria.

Forward Iwobi and defender Bassey were key to Fulham's success in December, where the Cottagers claimed back-to-back 5-0 victories over West Ham and Nottingham Forest and defeated Arsenal 2-1 on New Year's Eve.

However, the two summer signings linked up with the Nigeria earlier this month, helping their country into the AFCON quarter-finals where they will play Angola on Friday, and were unavailable for Fulham's Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool as well as Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Silva, speaking ahead of Tuesday's Premier League visit of Everton, said: "[Iwobi] and Bassey too, they have been two big misses for us.

"They played in the last game against Arsenal and the team was in a good moment. Bassey was in his best moment since he joined last summer. Alex has been an important player in our attacking line and someone who can play in many positions."

Fulham have beaten Everton on both occasions this season, with victory coming in the form of a 1-0 league win in August before a penalty shoot-out triumph in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals in December.

And despite their recent cup disappointments, Silva, who managed the Toffees between 2018 and 2019, believes Fulham can have confidence going into the match after their results against Sean Dyche's men this season.

He added: "It gives us the confidence that we can repeat again. Everton will think the opposite way. It gives us confidence that we can perform well to get it done.

"It will be a competitive Premier League game and we are positive we can get a result again."

Everton, who received a 10-point deduction in November for breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, sit one point clear of the bottom three and seven behind 13th-placed Fulham.

Silva believes his former club will bring a physical presence to west London and that his Fulham team will need to have a "very good night" in a game he says the Cottagers need to win.

"We know what they are capable to do, they will demand a very good night from ourselves because we need to win the game," Silva said.

"Their reaction [to the points deduction] was impressive and we need to be fair and realise that it was.

"It's always tricky when you play a Sean Dyche team. They are a difficult team to beat and play against. For me it is clear that in all moments of the game it can become physical in all the challenges and the duels and they are able to build and create chances as well. They are a solid side.

"Everton away from home have been one of the stronger sides. We know that they are a dangerous side, we know what they are capable to do."

Liverpool interested in signing soon-to-be Premier League free agent
Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has reportedly caught the attention of Liverpool.

That's according to the Daily Mail's Transfer Confidential, which claims the Reds are interested in signing the Manchester-born defender.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Adarabioyo, 26, has been heavily linked with a free transfer away from Craven Cottage.

Despite being rumoured to be a target for Serie A giants AC Milan, the 26-year-old's agent recently quashed speculation his client was refusing to sign a new contract with Fulham.

However, regardless of what the player's representatives say, it seems unlikely the centre-back will remain a Fulham player beyond this season, and according to these latest reports, Anfield is now a possible destination.

Irrespective of Jurgen Klopp's recent decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, Adarabioyo is well-respected inside the club with the Premier League leaders thought to be 'interested' in landing him on a free transfer in the summer.

During his four years with Fulham, Adarabioyo, who came through Manchester City's youth academy, has directly contributed to six goals in 121 games in all competitions.

Fulham vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

Fulham will host Everton at Craven Cottage on Tuesday evening, looking to bounce back from a series of poor results in recent outings.
Fulham are winless in their last four matches across all competitions, picking up three defeats ahead of the visit of Everton. The 13th-placed Cottagers will be hoping to push for a top-half finish this season, and they need to grind out a positive result in these games.

On the other hand, Everton are currently 17th in the league table, and they will be hoping to preserve their status as a Premier League club next season. They need to pick up important points at this stage of the season to ensure their safety. It is all the more important amid the looming threat of further Financial Fair Play sanctions.

The Toffees are winless in their last four league matches, and they have lost three of those outings. Both teams will be desperate for a win here, and this should be a thrilling contest. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.

Team News & Tactics
Fulham
Fulham will be without the services of Adama Traore, who has picked up a hamstring injury. Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Fode Ballo-Toure are away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. The hosts are likely to shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Bernd Leno in goal.

Kenny Tete and Antonee Robinson will be deployed in the full-back positions, and they will look to help out at both ends of the pitch. Tosin Adarabioyo will start alongside Issa Diop at the heart of the defence.

As for the midfield unit, Joao Palhinha will start alongside Tom Cairney. The two players will look to add defensive cover to the side and break up opposition attacks. Andreas Pereira will reprise the number ten role, and he will look to create goalscoring opportunities in the final third and link up with the attackers.

Willian and Bobby De Cordova-Reid will start in the wide areas. They will look to add pace and flair from the flanks. Finally, Raul Jimenez will lead the line for Fulham against Everton on Tuesday.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Adarabioyo, Diop, Robinson; Palhinha, Cairney; Reid, Pereira, Willian; Jimenez

Everton
Dele Alli and Abdoulaye Doucoure are sidelined with injuries for the away side. Idrissa Gueye is away on international duty due to the Africa Cup of Nations, and he will miss out as well. Everton will shape up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with Jordan Pickford in goal.

Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko will start as the full-backs, and they will look to protect the central defenders and help out during counter-attacks. James Tarkowski will start at the heart of the defence alongside Jarrad Branthwaite.

In the middle of the park, James Garner will feature alongside Amadou Onana. While the Belgian will look to break up opposition attacks and protect the backline, Garner will add work rate and drive to the side.

Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil will add pace and flair from the wide areas. The two players will look to help open up the Fulham defence with their creativity and unpredictability. Arnaut Danjuma will start in the free role behind the striker, and he will look to join up in the attack and drop down to help create opportunities as well. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the line for Everton.

Probable Lineup (4-4-1-1): Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Garner, Onana, McNeil; Danjuma; Calvert-Lewin

Key Stats

Fulham are undefeated in their last five matches against Everton in all competitions.
Fulham are winless in four of the last six matches across all competitions.
Everton are winless in five of the last six matches across all competitions.
14 goals have been scored in the last six meetings between these two sides.

Player to Watch
Willian
The Brazilian attacker has done quite well for Fulham this season, and he has five goals and an assist to his name across all competitions. He has been quite impressive in his recent outings, especially against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Willian will look to continue in his rich vein of form and help the home team open up the Everton defence with his passing and vision. He will look to add to his goal tally for the season as well this midweek.

Prediction
Fulham 1-1 Everton
Both teams will be desperate for all three points, and they cannot afford to keep dropping points at this stage of the season. They are in similar form right now. This is likely to be a close contest, and it will be difficult to separate the two teams. They are likely to cancel each other out and share the spoils. A goalscoring draw is on the cards this week.

Pre-Everton Press Conference
Marco Silva is aware of how strong Everton have been away from Goodison Park this season.

Only Liverpool and Manchester City have won more matches on their travels in 2023/24, but Silva has faith in his own side at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.

"All the respect to Everton, away from home they have been one of the strongest sides so far this season," he said. "They have been achieving a really, really good number of points away from home.

"The position they are in is not important for us, we look for ourselves, focus on ourselves. There are three points there to fight for and we are going to do our maximum to get the three points, knowing that they are a dangerous side.

"In many, many ways, away from home they have been achieving points. We know what they are capable of doing, it's going to demand from ourselves a very good night because we need to win the game.

"It's always tricky. As I said before, when you play against Sean Dyche teams it's always tricky, they're always a really difficult team to beat and to play against.

"Everyone knows how the game can become really physical as well, and how they are strong in all the challenges, in all the duels, and after from that moment they are capable to build always and to create chances to score.

"They are a solid side in many moments of the game. Of course, I know them really well, they know ourselves really well as well. It's going to be a really competitive Premier League game, and we are positive that we can get a good result again."

Fulham won three times at Everton in 2023, and when asked if that can give his side an advantage heading into Tuesday, Silva replied: "Not advantage, but gives us the confidence that we can repeat again. Simple as that.

"The opposite side, of course, is that Everton are thinking in the opposite way, that they want to change things.

"If you have been achieving good results, it's not an advantage because the game is going to start new, [but] it gives us the confidence that we can repeat the good result again and we can perform well to get it done."

Empty seats at Craven Cottage: Prices put cup magic in peril

If you were watching Fulham take on Newcastle United in the FA Cup fifth round this weekend you may have spotted swathes of empty seats in the home ends – and it wasn't apathy keeping the regulars away.

Despite the pull of a big cup tie, those empty seats were the result of the latest boycott from Fulham fans – search #AffordableFulham on Twitter/X for more – as the issue of ticket pricing at Craven Cottage came to a head.

As we reported earlier this season, Fulham are home to some of the worst matchday and season ticket pricing – prompting fans to lobby the club directly on the issue. When those warnings went unheard, ticket price protests were launched before their Premier League game against Manchester United back in November.

And tickets for this weekend's game in the cup started at £40 for adults, with no sale window or reservation options for season ticket holders. The club's decision caused Fulham fans to call for boycotts on social media and now Fulham supporter groups want to hear from fans who chose to stay away.

Fulham Supporters' Trust said: "We need to make sure the club ownership recognises the value of our loyal fans and communities as we fight for #AffordableFulham. To all angry about ticket arrangements and prices: join the trust so our collective voice is stronger."

Fulham Lillies have also backed the #AffordableFulham campaign and are calling for testimony from the weekend's boycotting fans.

The travelling Newcastle United supporters, who filled the Putney End at Craven Cottage, expressed their support for Fulham fans taking a stand against the club's ticket prices.

Newcastle United Supporters' Trust said: "Whilst we wish that empty seats tonight could've been filled by as many NUFC fans as possible we fully support the decision by Fulham supporters to boycott this fixture due to the ridiculous cost of attending football in 2024."

"£40 for a Saturday night game on TV is crazy and takes advantage of supporters," said Newcastle United Supporters Club.

Everton at Fulham: Predicted Line-Up | Beto or DCL?
Can Everton return to form against Fulham?

The Blues looked invigorated after the club's initial point deduction in November, but since Everton's penalty shootout defeat to our next opponents, Fulham, the Blues have struggled for form.

The latest disappointment was another home defeat in the FA Cup and now the Blues have one – and only one – focus for the rest of the season: retain our Premier League status, regardless of how many points we're deducted.

So how will the Blues line-up for a midweek trip to Fulham?

Who's Out?
There is no new injury news since the weekend.

That means the Blues look thin in the middle with Abdoulaye Doucoure (hamstring), Idrissa Gueye (international duty) and Andre Gomes (calf) all unavailable.

Seamus Coleman is also out with a hamstring problem, while it doesn't look like Dele will play for Everton again due to his latest injury setback.

EVERTON SQUAD AVAILABLE VS FULHAM
Goalkeepers: Pickford, Virginia, Lonergan

Defenders: Keane, Godfrey, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, Coleman (INJURED), Patterson, Young

Midfielders: Doucoure (INJURED), Onana, Gueye (International Duty), Garner, Onyango, Gomes (INJURED), Dele (INJURED)

Wingers: McNeil, Danjuma, Dobbin, Harrison

Silva wary of Everton's away form
Marco Silva has warned his Fulham side to recognise Everton's excellent form away from Goodison Park ahead of their return to Premier League action tomorrow night.

The Whites will look to bounce back from crashing out of the FA Cup against Newcastle on Saturday night by getting back to winning ways when the Toffees come to SW6, but Silva knows his former side are a formidable proposition on the road under Sean Dyche.

The Fulham head coach told his pre-match press conference at Motspur Park this afternoon:

"All the respect to Everton, away from home they have been one of the strongest sides so far this season. They have been achieving a really, really good number of points away from home. The position they are in is not important for us, we look for ourselves, focus on ourselves. Leno shortlisted for London Football Awards
Fulham's Bernd Leno has been shortlisted for the goalkeeper of the year award at the forthcoming London Football Awards.

The German international has been sensational between the sticks since moving to Craven Cottage from Arsenal in August 2022 and is one of the key reasons why Marco Silva's side have taken to the top flight so successfully. Leno is joined on the shortlist by Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham Hotspur), Alphonse Areola (West Ham), Sam Johnstone (Crystal Palace) and Mackenzie Arnold (West Ham Women).

The winner will be announced at the awards dinner on Thursday 29 Feburary.

Fulham planning to make fresh bid for Chelsea's Armando Broja?
Fulham are reportedly set to make a fresh bid to sign Chelsea forward Armando Broja on loan.

The 22-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular starting place since returning from a serious knee injury in September.

The Albania international has started just eight of his 19 appearances this term, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Although Broja is under contract until the summer of 2028, Chelsea are willing to entertain a possible departure due to the club's ongoing concerns over Profit and Sustainability rules.

While Chelsea are seemingly prepared to sell their academy product, they are believed to be open to the prospect of a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Fulham have emerged as the front-runners for Broja's signature, with Marco Silva keen to add to his centre-forward options, which currently include Raul Jimenez, Carlos Vinicius and Rodrigo Muniz.

According to TEAMtalk, Fulham are set to make a fresh bid for Broja, having already seen an offer turned down by Chelsea.

Fulham's loan proposal included a £25m obligation to buy, but it ultimately fell well below Chelsea's valuation of £35m.

Despite seeing their offer knocked back, the Cottagers are expected to resume talks with their West London neighbours.

Fulham are believed to be preparing a fresh bid as they try to reach an agreement with Chelsea before the transfer window shuts on February 1.

While Fulham are currently leading the race to sign Broja, they could still face competition from other Premier League clubs.

Aston Villa, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are among those that have previously been linked with the Albanian, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be interested in a loan move.

Broja, who is under contract until the summer of 2028, has made a total of 38 senior appearances for Chelsea, registering three goals and three assists.

Fulham vs Everton
Everton return to Premier league action on Tuesday evening as they travel to London to face a tricky assignment against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Blues will need to pick themselves up following Saturday's dismal cup exit at the hands of Luton while also dealing with ongoing injury problems that are severely restricting Sean Dyche's ability to navigate what has become a rocky patch of form.

Everton have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and still set precariously just above the relegation zone above their cup conquerors, Luton thanks to the points deduction that the club's lawyers will be fighting at an appeal hearing in the coming weeks.

Dyche's side appear to have lost their way somewhat in the absence of Abdoulaye Doucouré, and with Idrissa Gueye away on Africa Cup of Nations duty and Andre Gomes struggling once more with injury, there is a depressing lack of creativity in midfield and dynamism and effectiveness up front.

"It's a calf," Dyche said of Gomes. "He won't be fit this week. It's going to be a matter of time, but we don't know how long yet. He's had a couple of them over the last few months, and it's a loss to us because he's shown he wants to adapt."

Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues his barren run in front of goal, Beto is struggling to convince that he is the answer leading the line and Dwight McNeil has not looked the same player since injuring himself at Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Both Doucouré and Gomes are ruled out for the trip to the Capital with hamstring and calf issues respectively, and Ashley Young probably won't the trip as he works his way back to full fitness. Seamus Coleman could travel, with Dyche admitting that it would be a "judgement call" whether or not to push him back into the fold.

That leaves the manager grappling with the same personnel as were available at the weekend against the Hatters, a group that, collectively, turned in a worryingly one-dimensional and in effective display.

Jordan Pickford will almost certainly return to the side after Joao Virginia was allowed the chance to impress in back-to-back FA Cup ties but Dyche's options to mix things up elsewhere in the team are limited.

The back four will pick itself in the absence of Coleman and Young, likewise central midfield so it's in the forward areas where the gaffer might tinker. Beto and Calvert-Lewin started in a strike partnership against Luton that didn't look like it was destined to work so it's possible he might bring Arnaut Danjuma into the starting XI now that it appears as though Kevin Thelwell will resist any approach from Lyon to take the Dutchman on loan.

Lewis Dobbin has shown flashes of promise but remains raw, as does Youssef Chermiti who made a cameo at the end of the cup tie on Saturday but it wasn't enough time for him to stake a claim for a rare start.

The Cottagers under former Toffees boss, Marco Silva, have already beaten Everton somewhat fortuitously on two occasions this season, first on the opening day in the Premier League and then in the Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals in that dramatic penalty shootout that feels more and more like a watershed moment in the Blues' season.

They come into the weekend sitting in 13th place and seven points better off than Everton but they will be without Harry Wilson who is ruled out and Adama Traore who is very likely to join his team-mate on the sidelines because of a thigh problem. Ex-Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi is on AfCoN duty along with Calvin Bassey and Fode Ballo-Toure.

Kick-off: 7:45pm, Tuesday 30 January, 2024
Referee: Tom Bramall
VAR: David Coote
Last Time: Fulham 0 - 0 Everton

Predicted Line-up: Pickford, Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Onana, Garner, Harrison, McNeil, Danjuma, Calvert-Lewin

AFCON: "Absence of Iwobi, Bassey affecting Fulham" – Club boss Marco Silva laments
Fulham manager Marco Silva has expressed his disappointment over the absence of key players Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, attributing their Africa Cup of Nations commitments as "two big misses" following Fulham's recent exits from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Iwobi and Bassey, who played pivotal roles in Fulham's successful December run, including victories against West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Arsenal, have been representing Nigeria in the AFCON tournament.

Their absence was felt during Fulham's Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool and a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Speaking ahead of Fulham's upcoming Premier League clash with Everton, Silva acknowledged the impact of losing the Nigerian duo.

"They played in the last game against Arsenal, and the team was in a good moment. Bassey was in his best form since joining last summer. Alex has been an important player in our attacking line and someone who can play in many positions," said Silva.

Despite the setbacks, Fulham remains optimistic, having secured victories against Everton earlier in the season, including a 1-0 league win in August and a penalty shoot-out triumph in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals in December.

Silva, who managed Everton from 2018 to 2019, believes that past successes against Everton provide confidence for the upcoming match.

"It gives us the confidence that we can repeat again. Everton will think the opposite way. It gives us confidence that we can perform well to get it done. It will be a competitive Premier League game, and we are positive we can get a result again," he stated.

As Everton faces challenges, including a 10-point deduction in November for breaching Premier League financial rules, Fulham aims to capitalize on their recent form to secure a positive result and move further away from the relegation zone.

Everton at Fulham: Match Preview | Struggling Toffees head down to west London
Marco Silva's Cottagers are rapidly becoming a bogey team

Everton will look to bounce back from their hugely disappointing FA Cup exit when they return to Premier League action against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Toffees were desperately poor against Luton on Saturday, just as they were when the two sides met back in September, where Everton also conceded both goals from set pieces in a 2-1 defeat.

With Abdoulaye Doucoure still absent Sean Dyche experimented with 4-4-2 and went direct to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto, but it just didn't work (again like it didn't work against the Hatters in September either).

With no return date yet given for Doucoure, Dyche has to try and find a system that works in his absence or risk being sucked into the bottom three.

Everton's early cup exit means that after Tuesday there is only one scheduled midweek game between now and the end of the season (excluding Crystal Palace, which was moved from Saturday to Monday). That one-game-a-week schedule should hopefully ease the burden on a small squad that has shown it cannot cope with even a handful of injuries.

But with Tottenham, Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion on the horizon next month, they really need to take something from west London or things could get very nervy again.

The opposition
Fulham face the Toffees just a month after they won on penalties at Goodison to progress through to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Marco Silva's side subsequently lost over two legs to Liverpool and were also dumped out of the FA Cup at home to Newcastle last weekend, meaning they will be hoping for a response on Tuesday.

Fulham's Harry Wilson sidelined with shoulder injury
Fulham boss Marco Silva has confirmed that Harry Wilson will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks with a shoulder injury.

After losing 3-2 on aggregate to Liverpool in the EFL Cup semi-finals, Fulham experienced more cup disappointment in Saturday's home clash with Newcastle United.

Goals from Sean Langstaff and Dan Burn condemned the West London club to a 2-0 defeat in the FA Cup fourth-round tie.

To add to Fulham's disappointment, Wilson had been replaced by Willian in first-half stoppage time after he sustained a shoulder injury.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's Premier League clash with Everton, Silva revealed that Wilson is set for a short spell on the sidelines.

"Unfortunately for us, he's going to be another absence for the match," Silva told reporters at Monday's press conference.

Silva also confirmed that Adama Traore remains unavailable, but the winger is closing in on a return after returning to training.

In addition to Wilson and Traore, Fulham are unable to call upon Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Fado Ballo-Toure, who are currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Having picked up 24 points from 21 matches, the Cottagers enter Tuesday's contest in 13th position in the Premier League table.

Fulham have the chance to claim their first-ever league double over Everton after recording a narrow 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture.

Report: Liverpool To Battle AC Milan For Premier League Defender

Liverpool's Eye on Tosin Adarabioyo: A Potential Free Transfer from Fulham
Interest Peaks in Adarabioyo

In a fascinating turn of events, Liverpool FC's interest in Fulham's defender Tosin Adarabioyo has intensified. Andrew Walker from Caught Offside brought this intriguing development to light, reporting that the Premier League leaders are keen on securing the Manchester-born player. Adarabioyo, whose contract with Fulham is nearing its end, appears to be a hot commodity in the transfer market.

Despite the recent announcement of Jurgen Klopp's impending departure from Liverpool, the club's admiration for Adarabioyo remains steadfast. His performance at Craven Cottage, where he has been instrumental in their defensive line for four years, has not gone unnoticed. With 121 appearances and a direct hand in six goals, Adarabioyo's potential move could bolster Liverpool's backline.

Contract Uncertainties and Rumours
Adarabioyo's agent has dismissed rumours of a refusal to sign a new contract with Fulham. Yet, the whispers of his departure persist, especially with the allure of playing at Anfield. While Serie A giants AC Milan has shown interest, Liverpool seems to be a more probable destination for the 26-year-old.

Liverpool's Defensive Strategy
Liverpool's strategy appears to be leaning towards strengthening their defence, and Adarabioyo fits this bill perfectly. His experience and skill, honed at Manchester City's youth academy and proven at Fulham, make him a valuable asset. As his contract expiration looms, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool will indeed be his next home.

In summary, Liverpool's interest in Tosin Adarabioyo is a testament to his abilities and potential value to the club. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on this developing story of a possible free transfer.

Sean Dyche hints at new Everton injury 'doubt' ahead of Fulham and Spurs this week
Sean Dyche, for all the hardships he has faced during his 12 months at Everton, has remained admirably transparent throughout.

He says it how it is, and treats the fans with the respect they deserve. We are not fools, and can comprehend the wider issues plaguing the club we all love. It feels refreshing to have a manager and director of football who finally seem to understand this.

The connection between the supporters and the club has been sorely tested in recent years, yet faith has remained unwavering. For that, few can belittle them.

All they can hope is that a brighter future is on the horizon, to give them a team worth this unrelenting support.

However, for now they must settle for the weak and threadbare outfit currently at Dyche's disposal, set to be ravaged even further ahead of tonight's Premier League match against Fulham.

What Sean Dyche said about Everton's injury issues
As someone who remains truthful in almost every situation, on the injury front there has been little change.

In a press conference that was littered with questions about the ongoing negativity swirling around the club, this update offered no respite from the misery of being an Everton supporter.

When asked about whether the squad would receive any timely boosts, Dyche issued what felt like yet another killing blow for hopeful fans: 'I doubt it.

'Close calls on a couple but we can't keep losing players, so if it's close calls we might have to go against it just by the nature of, well we can't keep losing players as I said, so I doubt it. It's probably going to be a very similar group.'

Asked to expand on who exactly, he then claimed: 'Well like Seamus, I mean [Ashley] Youngy probably we'd give him another week but needs must at the moment with so few bodies. But Seamus is probably the one a bit closer.'

Who could Everton start vs Fulham?
Well, from that update, it seems like little will be different from Saturday's miserable FA Cup exit at the hands of Luton Town.

However, hopefully at the very least it will have opened Dyche's eyes up to the idea that 4-4-2 simply does not work with Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Whether he packs another body into the midfield and pushes James Garner higher, or moves Jack Harrison more narrow and welcomes another winger, either way it will prove more profitable to the system whilst remaining in a similar pressing system.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is vastly favoured up front, so he is expected to be the starter if one is to be dropped. But they simply must find that replacement for Abdoulaye Doucoure as soon as possible, who remains out injured.

Apart from that, the miserable lack of options due to an ever-growing injury list has left him hampered. It will take a true masterclass to claim something from Craven Cottage later tonight.

Sources: Fulham and Brentford scouts dispatched to Leeds United, late Morgan Whittaker bid lined up
Talent-spotters from Fulham and Brentford watched Plymouth Argyle star Morgan Whittaker in action against Leeds on Saturday (27 January), sources told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old is attracting attention midway through his standout season in the Championship with Argyle.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (17 January) that Fulham, West Ham and Brentford are in the race for Whittaker.

However, it was scouts from west London rivals Fulham and Brentford in attendance at Elland Road on Saturday as Argyle drew 1-1 against Leeds to force an FA Cup fifth-round replay in Devon.

It is believed the two clubs are still monitoring Whittaker's situation and could make a late move for the attacker before Thursday's (1 February) transfer deadline.

Understandably, Plymouth are reluctant to lose the red-hot winger so late in the mid-season window.

Whittaker has hit 16 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for Argyle so far this season.

He is second (15 goals) only to Blackburn's Sammie Szmodics (16 goals) in the race for the Championship's top scorer award.

The 23-year-old returned to Plymouth permanently last summer (2023) after seeing a successful loan spell at Home Park cut short by Swansea just months earlier.

It has been widely reported that the ex-Swans star cost Argyle a club-record fee of just £1million plus add-ons.

The Devon club now stand to land a huge profit on Whittaker if he makes the move to the Premier League.

Fulham and Brentford sit 13th and 14th respectively in the top flight and need more firepower if they are to push into the top half.

Meanwhile, Whittaker's Plymouth side sit 15th in the Championship and have built an eight-point buffer to the bottom three.

Sources: Fulham in new move to sign Armando Broja as latest Chelsea price tag revealed
Fulham are still pushing hard to land Chelsea forward Armando Broja as Thursday's (1 February) transfer deadline approaches, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues striker is a top target for Marco Silva's side but his price tag is still proving prohibitive as the end of the window approaches.

Fulham have been scouring the market for a new striker throughout January but wanted to sign the right option – and have settled on Broja as a suitable target.

Football Insider revealed last week (22 January) that Chelsea want around £50million for the ex-Southampton loanee – a price tag which has forced West Ham to end their interest.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Cottagers will not turn their attention to alternative targets if they can't sign the Albania international.

Sources say Silva's side will return for their top targets in the summer window rather than rush into a panic buy in January.

It is believed club chiefs are aware Fulham are unlikely to be dragged into a relegation battle and have been eliminated from both domestic cups in the space of a week.

Broja has hit two goals and contributed two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.

He has started in just eight of those outings, with Nicolas Jackson often preferred in attack by Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The 22-year-old is under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2028.

Fulham strikers Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz have struggled for regular goals this season with Silva's side sitting 13th in the Premier League table.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Willian (five goals each) are the top scorers for the Cottagers this season.

Marco Silva has sold both players but not before they made crucial contributions to the team.

Kebano took to Instagram to celebrate his old teammate starring in the Ivory Coast.

When Marco Silva first arrived at Fulham, he had plenty of players at his disposal who had struggled under his predecessors.

One of those players was Jean Michael Seri, who had never really settled at Craven Cottage.

The Ivorian joined alongside defender Maxime Le Marchand in a deal worth a combined £30m.

Alongside Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, it was a sign of Fulham returning to the big time after their promotion from the Championship.

Unfortunately, that campaign was a disaster with Seri failing to live up to expectations.

Seri finally repaid the faith shown in him by Fulham when he had his best season at the club in 2021/22 and helped us win the Championship alongside Neeskens Kebano and co.

Silva decided it wasn't the right decision to extend his expiring contract for their return to the Premier League and he has since joined Hull City.

That hasn't affected his place in the Ivory Coast national team and he was named player of the match as they knocked out reigning champions Senegal last night.

Kebano hails former Fulham teammate Seri
Posting on his Instagram story after the match, Kebano said: "Technical director of Ivorian football what a score. But in the semi-final against us, you can't resist."

As Kebano alludes to, Seri will be facing his country DR Congo in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations.

With the support of a home crowd behind them, the Elephants now stand a great chance of reaching the final.

Kebano and Seri will both be hoping their respective nations can get past Fulham duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.

The pair are still in the tournament with Nigeria and both started their win in the last 16.

Not only that, the Fulham connection at AFCON was strengthened even further when Bassey set up a goal for another familiar name; Ademola Lookman.

De Cordova-Reid determined to bounce back
Bobby De Cordova-Reid is determined to help Fulham bounce back from their two cup defeats when they take on Everton in tonight's Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.

The Jamaican international, whose goal secured three points for Fulham at Goodison Park back in August, knows the visitors will be fired up to register another away win and may spy an opportunity to inflict more pain on Marco Silva's side.

"Obviously we've been doing well against Everton but that doesn't mean anything. We know what they're going to bring to the table. We have to exploit their weaknesses, but obviously go into the game with confidence and hopefully get the three points. I think we're prepared. We obviously want to put it right after two results that went against us. I think we need to get back on form and have that consistency going into the league."

De Cordova-Reid has made a virtue of his versatility, appearing in a number of positions for the Whites this season, and is likely to be called upon again tonight after Harry Wilson's shoulder injury.

"I think it's good for the manager because he may not have to make a sub – he can just move me around different positions! I consider myself a good listener, so when we're doing tactics I understand what different roles need, and I think the manager understands that and has trust in me. He's trusted me to do a lot of roles and trusts me on the pitch as a leader. I'm thankful for that and I want to keep repaying him with good performances."

Liverpool impressed with Fulham star amid uncertainty over Virgil van Dijk future
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo.

The 26-year-old has impressed in the Cottagers' back line since signing from Manchester City in October 2020.

Tosin is out of contract in the summer and is currently permitted to speak to overseas clubs regarding a free transfer.

Accordingly both AC Milan and Inter Milan have been mentioned as possible destinations for the 6'5 defender.

Fulham manager Marco Silva came close to losing Tosin last summer when he had only one year left on his deal. Monaco tried to sign him right up until the final moment of the transfer window but the move broke down when Fulham could not find an adequate replacement.

Tosin spent the first part of this season on the sidelines nursing a groin injury but has slotted back into the team in recent weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, he impressed Liverpool staff in the recent Carabao Cup semi-finals, a two-legged tie ultimately won by the Reds.

Tottenham are also known to be keen on the player, who spent time on loan with Blackburn Rovers and West Brom during his City days.

Liverpool will be in the market for centre-backs this summer with Joel Matip out of contract and extra numbers required in that area of the pitch.

There have been links with Sporting Lisbon pair Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande, who would cost €120 million between them, and Tosin would appear to be a more cost efficient option.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk added fuel to the fire following the FA Cup fourth-round defeat of Norwich City last weekend, declaring that whether he would stay or not following the imminent departure of manager Jurgen Klopp was "a big question".

Van Dijk, who turns 33 in July, has only 18 months left on his current Anfield contract, and might not be part of the post-Klopp rebuild.

"That's a big question. Well, I don't know," he told reporters when asked whether he would be at the club after Klopp left.

"The club will have a big job on their hands, that is well known. To replace the manager and replace not only the manager, the staff is leaving, and there are so many things that will change.

"So the club has a big job on its hands and I am very curious which direction that will go in. But when that will be announced we will see our situation, I can't say now."

Before The Whistle: Fulham v Everton

Back to the grind.

It's 'time to focus on the league' on Tuesday as we welcome Everton to Craven Cottage. We've enjoyed our recent encounters with the Toffees; we've won our last three games in all competitions – all at Goodison Park, and we're unbeaten in four overall.

That all points to a 1-0 home defeat, of course. I'm just joking. I hope.

The headline coming out of Marco's press conference is that Harry Wilson is out for two-to-three weeks after injuring his shoulder against Newcastle on Saturday night. Adama Traore is training with the squad again, but it's too soon for him to provide some cover. That's a lot of pressure on Willian and Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Silva says he's assessing the players ahead of this game, with two cup matches in four days sapping a lot of energy from the squad. Nevertheless, expect the starting XI to be closer to the one that started the League Cup semi.

A win could lift us above Bournemouth into 12th, if only for a day or so. A loss would bring Everton within four points of us – despite their 10-point deduction. No pressure, then. You Whites.

Everton predicted line-up vs Fulham - as Sean Dyche switches formation again amid three changes
Everton team predicted to face Fulham in the Premier League at Craven Cottage.

Everton make the trip to Fulham tonight (19.45 GMT) hoping they aim to climb away from the Premier League relegation zone.

The Toffees' only focus this season now remains in the top flight after they exited the FA Cup at the hands of Luton Town last weekend. A last-gasp 2-1 loss was disappointing amid a largely disappointing performance at Goodison Park.

However, remaining in the top flight is the priority for Sean Dyche's side. A 10-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules has plunged Everton into another scrap, having narrowly avoided the drop in the past two seasons.

The Toffees currently sit one point and one place above the bottom three and have won only one of their past eight games in all competitions. However, the Blues' away form has been good this term - it's the sixth best in the Premier League - and they can take confidence heading to Craven Cottage.

Dyche again has injury problems to contend with, however. Top-scorer Abdoulaye Doucoure is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Andre Gomes has suffered a calf setback. Seamus Coleman is another doubt, while Idrissa Gana Gueye is absent again as he's been on African Cup of Nations duty with Senegal - who are now out of the tournament after losing to Ivory Coast on penalties in the last 16.

Regardless, Dyche may be looking at making changes to his side that lost to Luton. Ahead of the clash against Fulham, here's the Everton team predicted.

Club still pushing for potential £50m transfer deal with Chelsea as Deadline Day edges closer
Fulham are reportedly still pushing for a late January transfer window swoop for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, who could cost as much as £50million.

The Albania international has struggled for playing time at Stamford Bridge recently, though he's previously been regarded as one of the most exciting young talents at the club after impressing during a loan spell at Southampton.

According to Football Insider, it seems Fulham remain keen to snap Broja up before Deadline Day, though his £50m valuation seems to be the main issue at the moment.

The report adds that West Ham were also previously interested in Broja, but ended their interest due to Chelsea's demands for the 22-year-old.

Broja could surely be a fine signing for most Premier League clubs, so interest from the likes of Fulham and West Ham makes sense, and it will be interesting to see if others also join the race.

Chelsea may have to be more realistic with their demands, however, as £50m is a huge amount to pay for someone with relatively little Premier League experience, however big a prospect he may be.

As well as Nathan Patterson, Sean Dyche must ditch 'clumsy' Everton dud v Fulham
Everton are back in Premier League action tonight at last, but face a tough task as they travel to face a Fulham side that has troubled them twice already this season.

Having snatched a 1-0 win on the opening day of the season, despite the statistics reflecting home dominance, the hope was that the Toffees might be out for revenge last month in the EFL Cup.

However, neither the fans nor the players really seemed up for it, and despite a late Beto equaliser, the Cottagers would win again, this time on penalties.

They will be hoping to make it a third triumph in just one campaign tonight, and face Sean Dyche's side at arguably the perfect time given their injury crisis.

However, to give themselves the best possible chance of claiming any kind of result, there is one crucial thing that the 52-year-old manager must do.

Who should Everton start up front vs Fulham?
The big issue for Everton of late has been finding the net: a problem that has persisted for years now.

It was thought that the return to fitness for Dominic Calvert-Lewin would solve these issues, but if anything the profligate marksman has only deepened the issue.

That being said, his link-up play and general work rate remain largely faultless, which makes him such a tough man to drop.

Especially if it is for the aforementioned Beto, who does not boast nearly as much technical prowess as the Englishman.

Awkward, uncomfortable and even 'clumsy' in the eyes of journalist Adam Jones, if any of these two strikers have to drop out from the Luton Town game, it is surely the 25-year-old.

Ditching him should also coincide with Nathan Patterson's return to the bench too, with Dyche likely to favour Ashley Young if he does decide to risk the former Aston Villa man.

How did Sean Dyche's 4-4-2 formation work vs Luton Town?
Having started them both up top last time out, trialling a 4-4-2 again in the FA Cup, it swiftly became clear it was a system that the players were not used to.

Barring a few flashes of interplay which threatened to carve open their opponents, the formation left them woefully out of sorts in key areas, surrendering the midfield and forcing a style of play which left the players far too lackadaisical in possession.

The presence of two hulking forwards clearly led the backline and midfielders to pump it long whenever possible, and given both strikers share a similar play style, they often got in each other's way or misread the situation.

As such, it marked a disjointed and awkward showing which left Dyche's players confused. They simply must revert to their usual solid style for tonight's Premier League clash, or if necessary at least the five-at-the-back.

Beto must mark the unfortunate casualty due to his inability to control the ball and bring others into play like Calvert-Lewin can, as they cannot allow the engine room to be offered up to their hosts tonight.

Report: Fulham, Wolves, and Villa Eye Chelsea Talent

Aston Villa's Bold Move: Pursuing Chelsea Forward Loved by Pochettino
In a surprising turn of events, the football transfer market is abuzz with news of Chelsea's Armando Broja being eyed by multiple clubs, including Aston Villa, Fulham, and Wolves. This unexpected development has put Broja's future on the line, as Chelsea seems willing to part ways with the striker. The question now is, which club will secure the talented player's signature? Fraser Gillan from TeamTalk has reported on the latest.

Exploring Broja's Situation:
Armando Broja, a promising 22-year-old forward, has found himself on the periphery of Chelsea's starting lineup this season, leading to speculation about his future. Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has given the green light for Broja's potential departure, considering his lack of consistent game time. With just two goals to his name this season, Broja faces competition from other forwards, including Nicolas Jackson, and Chelsea is also scouting for another striker to bolster their ranks.

Interest from Multiple Clubs:
According to sources close to Chelsea, Fulham, Wolves, and Aston Villa are the frontrunners in the race to secure Broja's services. Both Fulham and Wolves are currently engaged in discussions with Chelsea over a potential loan deal. Chelsea are open to including an obligation to buy in the arrangement, although an option to buy remains an option.

Fulham recently made a bold move by offering a loan deal with an obligation to buy at £25 million, only to have it rejected by Chelsea, who stands firm on their £35 million valuation. It remains to be seen if Fulham or Wolves will meet Chelsea's asking price within the dwindling days of the transfer window.

Aston Villa's Tactical Approach:
Aston Villa has also thrown their hat into the ring for Broja. Interestingly, they could leverage Chelsea's interest in their striker, Jhon Duran, to facilitate negotiations. Pochettino views Duran as a potential future star, making a swap deal involving Broja and Duran a viable possibility.

Contingency Plans for Chelsea:
If the Duran deal falls through, Chelsea is reportedly considering a late move for Newcastle's Callum Wilson as an alternative. This contingency plan adds another layer of intrigue to Broja's potential transfer, as the player's destination remains uncertain.

The Race for Broja's Signature:
As things stand, the competition is fierce among Fulham, Wolves, and Aston Villa for Armando Broja's signature. With the transfer window closing soon, the outcome of these negotiations could significantly impact the future of this young, promising striker.

In conclusion, Broja's situation is one to watch closely as the drama unfolds in the coming days. Which club will successfully land this talented forward, and how will Chelsea's transfer strategies evolve? The answers to these questions will undoubtedly shape the next chapter in Armando Broja's football journey.

Everton Matchday Preview
Fulham v Everton | Tuesday 30th January | 7.45pm | Craven Cottage | #FULEVE

The opposition

After losing their first three games of the season – including on the opening day at home to Fulham – Everton then went on to win a staggering 11 of their next 17 fixtures across all competitions.
The first half of December was particularly productive as they won four on the spin without conceding a goal, form which saw them sitting seven points clear of danger – a feat all the more impressive when you take their 10-point deduction into account.
But since Fulham knocked them out of the Carabao Cup, the Toffees have struggled for results. A goalless draw with Aston Villa at Goodison Park is the only point they've picked up in the Premier League in four attempts. They did knock Crystal Palace out of the Emirates FA Cup following a replay, but then exited the competition themselves courtesy of Cauley Woodrow's late winner for Luton Town at the weekend.

Fulham team news

Harry Wilson will miss the next few weeks after hurting his shoulder against Newcastle United, though Adama Traoré is closing in on a return after rejoining training. Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey remain on international duty. Fodé Ballo-Touré's Senegal were knocked out on Tuesday, but he will not return in time for the game.

Everton team news

Seamus Coleman and Abdoulaye Doucoure are nursing hamstring injuries, while Andre Gomes has a calf knock and Dele Alli has undergone surgery on his groin. Senegal international Idrissa Gueye is in the same situation as Ballo-Touré.

Tickets

An extremely limited number of tickets remain available for Tuesday's game.

Weather

A dry day is forecast in SW6, but temperatures will be around seven degrees by kick-off.

Player insight

Bobby De Cordova-Reid isn't reading anything into the fact that Fulham have already beaten Everton twice this season.

"Obviously we've been doing well against Everton but that doesn't mean anything. We know what they're going to bring to the table.

"We have to exploit their weaknesses, but obviously go into the game with confidence and hopefully get the three points."

Matchday programme

The scorer of the winning goal against Everton in the corresponding Premier League fixture earlier in the season, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, spoke to the matchday programme ahead of tonight's match.

"On a personal level, it's been an enjoyable season so far," says De Cordova-Reid, whose five strikes during the campaign also include winners against Arsenal in the Premier League and Rotherham United in the Emirates FA Cup. "I've been able to chip in with a few goals which I'm obviously really happy about. I'm still critical of myself that I can get more goals, so I will continue to work to do that. But I'm enjoying my football and I enjoy being part of this squad."

As part of Green Football Weekend – the world's biggest football campaign to tackle climate change, which culminates on the weekend of 2nd-5th February – Bobby has also been busy in the kitchen. His meat-free recipe for Black Bean and Quorn Mince Chilli Tacos can be found in the matchday programme.

Fulham vs Everton: Five things to expect at Craven Cottage
Both teams are in the wrong half of the table and suffered FA Cup exits over the weekend.

Everton travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Tuesday night for a clash between two sides in the wrong half of the Premier League table.

Both teams also suffered FA Cup exits over the weekend and will be looking to bounce back in the 7:45pm kick off. So, what can we expect from the match in West London?

Everton's form against Fulham
The last time the two side met was in the League Cup at Goodison Park on 19 December. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, but Fulham would end up winning on penalties. The Toffee's have only travelled to Craven Cottage three time since 2019, with one win, one loss and a draw. In their last five meetings, Everton have only managed a single draw, alongside four defeats.

Fulham will be missing key players, Calving Bassey, Fode Ballo-Toure and most noticeably former Toffees winger Alex Iwobi, who are all away representing their countries at the African Cup Of Nations. Adama Traore is also missing, out injured.

Toffee's response to FA Cup defeat
Everton come into the game off the back of an FA Cup defeat to relegation-threatened Luton. The Toffees have a lot of making up to do after their recent form, which sees them sit 17th in the league table following a ten points deduction. They missed numerous chances in that loss to the Hatters and will need to be more clinical.

Beto looking for goals
The Portuguese forward arrived from Italian side Udinese for £25 million but has struggled to find the net - he has one goal in 16 Premier League appearances. Everton fans were excited when he arrived as he gave the Toffee's some much needed depth in the forward position. He scored in a 2-1 win on his debut against League Two side Doncaster in the cup, but has failed to find the net regularly. There were times at the weekend where he could have scored against Luton and he needs a good game to get his campaign going.

Fulham's loss of form
Fulham came into the season with high hopes after finishing 10th last year. However, Marco Silva's side has been struggling for form recently and are looking for their first Premier League win since the 2-1 victory against Arsenal in December. Fulham can't rely solely on star-man Joao Palhinha, other players need to step-up. Goals have been hard to come by this season and their leading scorers are Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Willian, who both have five goals.

Danjuma has to step-up
Arnaut Danjuma arrived on loan from Villarreal in the summer. The forward arrived with lots of hope and the thought of him, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jack Harrison and Beto all up front together was something for the fans to be excited about, but this sadly hasn't been the case. Having started back-to-back games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa he failed to score or register an assist in two games which both ended 0-0.

He's played 13 times in the Premier League this year, having come off the bench in nine of those games. He's scored just once since joining. This could be the perfect game for the Dutchman to make an impact.

Brighton, Everton, Fulham & Brentford stance revealed as Leicester City set £40m asking price

Brighton ends pursuit of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall due to unwillingness to meet £40 million asking price.
Everton, Fulham, and Brentford still interested in midfielder.
Dewsbury-Hall's future may depend on Leicester's promotion to the Premier League.

Brighton are expected to end their pursuit of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this January but Everton, Fulham and Brentford still hold an interest.

According to Talksport (10.42), the Seagulls are not willing to meet the £40 million asking price set by Leicester City.

It emerged late last week that the Premier League side were interested in signing the midfielder, with it being reported that they made an offer worth an overall package of £20 million.

However, there is a big gap in valuation of the 25-year-old, with the Foxes holding out for up to double that figure.

Dewsbury-Hall is a key part of Enzo Maresca's side as the club aims to fight for promotion to the Premier League this season.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer latest
Brighton are set to end their pursuit of the Leicester player for the time being, with the top flight club unwilling to match the £40 million asking price set by the Foxes.

However, it is understood that Dewsbury-Hall is still attracting Premier League interest, with the likes of Everton, Fulham and Brentford all keeping tabs on the player.

Dewsbury-Hall has been a standout figure in Maresca's team so far this season, and he has previous experience in the top division from the club's time in the league before suffering relegation last year.

It is possible Brighton will return with another attempt to sign the player in the summer, should he remain at the King Power beyond January.

Dewsbury-Hall's future may also depend on the status of Leicester beyond this campaign, with the club fighting for automatic promotion straight back to the Premier League.

A failure to secure a place in the top division could open the door for his exit, having stayed with the club after their relegation in the previous campaign.

The 25-year-old has contributed nine goals and nine assists in the Championship so far, earning plenty of plaudits for his performances in the second tier.

Leicester are currently top of the second division table, sitting eight points clear of third place Southampton.

Leeds United are a point further behind in fourth, albeit having played a game more than their promotion rivals.

Maresca's side have occupied a top two spot for the majority of the season, and will see themselves as the favourites to secure promotion automatically.

The Italian has earned praise for his work at the Leicestershire outfit, having taken the reins during the summer.

He oversaw a major overhaul of the first team squad, with several key players departing.

Next up for Leicester is a home game against Swansea City this evening.

Dewsbury-Hall must stay beyond January
Leicester have no need to sell any of their key players, so it should take a ludicrous offer to convince them to cash in this month.

There is so little time left in the transfer window that replacing Dewsbury-Hall would be extremely difficult.

Keeping hold of him will be key to gaining promotion, which is worth a lot more than they could reasonably expect to receive from a sale.

There is no doubt that Dewsbury-Hall is a Premier League calibre player, so it is no surprise he is garnering interest, but Leicester should be able to hold firm and keep him beyond January.

Liverpool eye Fulham star on free transfer as Jurgen Klopp allows three players to leave
Liverpool were hugely impressed with the 26-year-old centre half in their Carabao Cup semi final second leg at Craven Cottage last Wednesday

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo could be an option for Liverpool in the summer.

Liverpool were hugely impressed with the 26-year-old centre half in their Carabao Cup semi final at Craven Cottage last Wednesday. Tosin is out of contract in the summer and has already attracted interest from AC Milan as he is free to talk to overseas clubs.

The 6ft 5in defender was also on Tottenham 's radar last summer and Liverpool want to bolster their defensive options. Even though Jurgen Klopp is leaving, a free transfer to replace the likes of Joel Matip is likely to appeal.

Fulham are happy to wait and see what develops and Tosin knows they want to keep him but he will have options as a free agent.

The Reds have allowed centre-back Nat Phillips to join Cardiff City on loan for the remainder of the season after the 26-year-old spent the first half of the campaign at Celtic.

Phillips has played 29 times for the Reds, including 20 appearances in the 2020-21 season when Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Matip all suffered serious injuries. He played only five times last term though, and appeared eight times for Celtic in the first half of this campaign.

Blackburn had also been hoping to snap up the defender, but he will now see out the rest of the campaign in south Wales.

The Reds have also loaned right-back Calvin Ramsay to Bolton after a less than fruitful first half of the season at Preston, where the Scot played just twice. Liverpool will hope the loan goes as well for Ramsay as it for right-back Conor Bradley, who won Bolton's player of the year award last season after a stellar campaign and is currently impressing for the first-team.

Liverpool left-back Owen Beck has also been allowed to rejoin Scottish side Dundee on loan after being recalled earlier this month.

Beck excelled at Dundee in the first half of the season but was brought back to Liverpool following injuries to Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, and he made his Premier League debut in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth. FIFA regulations state that he could not play for a third team this season after appearing for Liverpool and Dundee.

"I am made up to be back, after the first half of the season that we both had together," said Beck. "I now just can't wait to get back out there and perform in front of the fans again.

"I am over the moon to be back. I just want to thank the Dundee fans for their support in the first half of the season, even when you found out I got recalled you were fantastic with me, but I am back again, so let's get to work again."

Fulham and Brentford considering late swoop for Plymouth Argyle talisman as Lazio bid turned down
With Jack Clarke now off the table, Plymouth's Morgan Whittaker could be the man most in-demand from the Championship leading into deadline day

(https://static0.footballleagueworldimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/mixcollage-15-jan-2024-02-15-pm-4535.jpg?q=50&fit=contain&w=1140&h=&dpr=1.5)

With the final couple of days of the January transfer window now approaching, attentions are turning towards the Championship - but not for incoming players to second tier clubs.

It is the players that could depart one of the world's most competitive leagues that are catching the headlines, with one of them in the form of Adam Wharton close to securing a move away from Blackburn Rovers to Crystal Palace.

But it is the attacking players of the Championship that are now attracting significant interest - with one of those being Plymouth Argyle talisman Morgan Whittaker.

And the 23-year-old is now one of the players to watch ahead of the February 1 transfer deadline, with several clubs declaring their interest in the hot-shot.

Fulham and Brentford considering late Whittaker swoops

According to a report from Football Insider, Premier League sides are now looking into the possibility of putting in late bids for Whittaker in an attempt to take him from the Pilgrims, just a few months after he joined the Devon outfit on a permanent basis.

It is claimed that both Fulham and Brentford sent scouts to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon to watch Whittaker in action as Plymouth drew 1-1 with Leeds United in an FA Cup fourth round clash.

Whittaker captained Ian Foster's side and played all 90 minutes, and having monitored the forward before that anyway, both the Bees and the Cottagers are considering moves for the ex-Derby County and Swansea City man ahead of Thursday's 11pm deadline.

Brentford were close to securing Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa in one of the biggest January deals anywhere in the world, but problems over the Norwegian's medical tests, in which a knee issue cropped up, is forcing the West London outfit to look elsewhere, with attentions seemingly turning to Whittaker.

Fulham however have been incredibly quiet in the transfer window, although a late offer for Whittaker's services could change everything.

Lazio bid for Whittaker rejected
Whittaker is also wanted overseas and not just in England, with reports emerging in the middle of the month that Italian Serie A outfit Atatlanta sent scout Mick Doherty to watch the left-footed dynamo in action against Huddersfield Town - a match in which he scored in.

A new team from Italy have emerged as suitors for Whittaker though, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reporting on Monday evening that Lazio were now interested in Whittaker, and Argyle's director of football Neil Dewsnip has confirmed that an offer has been turned down from the Rome-based outfit.

Dewsnip has also revealed that Whittaker is not for sale, which would seemingly scupper anyone's chances of landing one of the Championship's top scorers.

Plymouth should hold out for £20 million figure for Whittaker
There is a saying that every player has his price, and despite Whittaker being declared as not for sale, Plymouth will almost certainly accept a bid providing their valuation is met.

That valuation though, looking at what the likes of Norwich and Sunderland want for Jonathan Rowe and Jack Clarke respectively, must be set very high and they must not be pushed over or bullied by bigger clubs.

Plymouth don't get 40,000-plus crowds through the door like the Black Cats do, but that does not mean they cannot demand a similar figure for their star man like the Wearsiders are with Clarke.

Whittaker has scored 15 times this season in league action and is proving himself to be one of the best players in the division, so a £20 million valuation would be fair and if that is met, then that is huge money for a club like Plymouth - whether that happens though this month remains to be seen.

Forget Lewis Dobbin... Sean Dyche must unleash 'phenomenal' Everton whiz on Fulham
With Everton returning to action tonight, the age-old debate over who Sean Dyche must start also begins.

However, this time, his options are significantly far more limited than one would hope.

Losing to Luton Town in the FA Cup last time out marked a searing indictment of their recent struggles, but the manner of that exit was indicative of the huge problems they are currently facing.

The former Burnley boss was forced to trial a largely untested 4-4-2 formation with the blind hope that it might click and solve his outstanding issues. It did not.

Thus, it is now back to the drawing board for Dyche, who must cobble together some kind of side capable of troubling Fulham in their own backyard, despite tonight's hosts having claimed two victories from Goodison Park already this term.

What Everton players are fit for the Fulham game tonight?
With the furthest thing from a clean bill of health, the bulk of the side actually picks itself.

Unfortunately, that is not through any outstanding performances or a rich vein of form, but more due to the fact that there is nobody else there.

James Garner and Amadou Onana simply have to start in midfield, as Andre Gomes, Dele Alli and Abdoulaye Doucoure are all still out.

Nathan Patterson seems to be the only truly fit right-back too, as Ashley Young remains doubtful and Seamus Coleman has been ruled out.

Even out wide, Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison have been ever-present thus far despite neither really doing much to earn that cemented spot.

But, with the latter perhaps set to be forced into midfield to occupy that aforementioned Doucoure absence, surely it is about time we saw Arnaut Danjuma from the start.

How good has Arnaut Danjuma been this season?
Chances have been desperately limited for the Dutchman since he made his loan move to Goodison Park in the summer, having initially snubbed their advances around this time last year.

It was expected that he would have a huge impact on any success earned this campaign, but that has been far from the case.

Clearly unfavoured by Dyche, the 26-year-old has instead been limited to a mere four Premier League starts, with even youngster Lewis Dobbin preferred to him on some occasions.

However, whilst he may struggle with the defensive side of the game, what he offers creatively cannot really be replicated within Everton's entire team at the moment.

His flashes of brilliance, however rare due to his lack of game time, have been exceptional and imperative.

A threaded through ball to release Dominic Calvert-Lewin against Aston Villa. Forging numerous chances on the break against Tottenham Hotspur.

The £53k-a-week whiz clearly boasts immense talent, and it is now just about Dyche ushering it out of him whilst keeping him disciplined.

After all, during the time when he was breaking through, Nijmegen's former technical director Remco Oversier would note: 'His dribbling technique is phenomenal. That boy has so much potential. You would have to analyse all of his goals, all different types. I saw right-backs falling over because they did not know what to do anymore.'

His dynamism and flair are unlike anything within this Everton squad, and he simply must be unleashed tonight over Dobbin.

Up next: Everton (h)
After the disappointment of a double Cup exit in the space of 74 hours, Fulham have an almost immediate opportunity to put things right when they welcome Everton to Craven Cottage this evening. Amidst all the apathy and rancour of the club's pricegouging that came to the fore in the FA Cup on Saturday night, there is a sense of deflation amongst the fan base that Fulham's campaign – which until a week ago carried plenty of promise in the cup competitions – could peter out. Marco Silva was having none of it during his media duties yesterday and you can be certain that will want to beat the Toffees as the memory of being sacked at Goodison Park was what persuaded him to succeed Scott Parker in SW6 three years ago.

Silva's ambition to finish the season strong – and potentially rival last term's top half finish – is somewhat undermined by the threadbare nature of his first-team squad. He will pick from nineteen fully-fit senior players this evening and admitted that his side are feeling the impact of Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, who inspired Nigeria to reach the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations, being on international duty in the Ivory Coast. The lack of a reliable alternative to Raul Jimenez remains an issue, as evidenced by Fulham's failure to make their dominance count against Newcastle at the weekend. The transfer window would seem to provide a remedy, but Silva has been downbeat about the prospect of making a significant splash based on his conversations with the club's board.

Of course, the fact that Fulham are comfortably anchored in the middle of the table and reached the League Cup semi-final with a squad that was afflicted by summer uncertainty surrounding several key players and the head coach underlines how well Silva has done with the resources at his disposal. The Whites might have struggled for consistency but they have managed four of their past five home league games – with the four-match winless run largely comprising of those missed opportunities in the two leagues against Liverpool and Saturday's reverse to Newcastle, where the hosts were well in the contest until all hope was extinguished by Dan Burn.

After Bobby De Cordova-Reid's burglary on Merseyside on the opening day, Fulham are in with a chance of completing their first league double over the Toffees at the thirtieth time of asking. Silva should revert to something like full strength having made seven changes on Saturday with this fixture and the trip to Burnley on Saturday in mind. Harry Wilson's shoulder injury is a significant blow given how the Welshman worried Liverpool off the bench on Wednesday and it is a blow that this game probably comes too soon for Adama Traore, although this correspondent can confirm that the Spaniard was moving much more freely at Motspur Park on Sunday.

Sean Dyche's side, beaten by a late Cauley Woodrow winner at the weekend, seem to have lost their way of late – sitting a single place and point above Luton, who have played a game less, and will take confidence from their Cup triumph at Goodison Park. Everton are sorely missing top scorer Abdoulaye Doucouré, whilst the loss of Idrissa Gueye to international commitments and Andre Gomes to an untimely calf injury, has blunted some of the midfield creativity that delivered an upturn in form before the turn of the year.

Dyche will likely be without experienced full backs Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young this evening and his pairing of Beto with Dominic Calvert-Lewin hardly troubled the Hatters in the Cup. Calvert-Lewin remains Everton's most likely source of goals, but a switch in system could see the likes of Arjun Danjuma, Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil provide him with the sort of service upon which he once thrived so successfully under Carlo Ancelotti.

Starting at a high tempo will be vital this evening. Tom Cairney's distribution will be more important than ever, but it will be interesting to see if the skipper starts in the deep-lying central midfield role he has made his own or could be pushed further forward in place of Andreas Pereira.

MY FULHAM XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, A. Robinson, Diop, Adarabioyo; Palhinha, Reed; De Cordova-Reid, Willian, Cairney, Jimenez. Subs: Rodak, Castagne, Ream, de Fougerolles, Francois, Lukic, Vinicius, Muniz.

Chris Sutton makes 'desperate' claim in result prediction for Fulham vs Everton match in Premier League
Chris Sutton says Sean Dyche and Everton are in "desperate" need of a victory when they take on Fulham in the Premier League.

The Toffees make the trip to Craven Cottage on Tuesday (30 January) aiming to turn things around after a poor run of form.

Everton were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend – as were Fulham – but Sutton has backed them to claim a point in West London.

Sutton predicted a 1-1 draw for BBC Sport [29 January] and added: "Fulham went out of both cups in the space of four days last week, despite not playing badly in either game. But their goals have dried up of late and that is what has cost them.

"It was Everton who were wasteful when these sides met at Goodison Park on the opening day of the season, and Marco Silva's side nicked the points.

"This time, Everton are desperate – like Forest really – and Sean Dyche really needs a result, with his side just above the relegation zone.

"This is a big game for the Toffees with tough fixtures against Tottenham and Manchester City coming up, but scoring goals is a problem for them too.

"Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs to start firing for Everton if they are going to start winning games, but this one smells a lot like a draw to me.

Keep the faith
Everton have won just one of their last eight matches – a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their FA Cup third-round replay two weeks ago.

Exiting that competition to Luton at the weekend was a big disappointment, leaving focus now solely on avoiding Premier League relegation.

The Toffees did incredibly well to climb clear of the relegation zone not so long ago, but they have taken just one point from the past 12 on offer.

That leaves Dyche's side 17th and now just one point above Luton Town in the final relegation spot, with the Hatters having a game in hand.

If it was not clear enough beforehand, it certainly is now: Everton are in serious danger and need to start picking up some victories.

A win at Fulham would make a whole world of difference, and it was not so long ago Everton won four league games in a row on their travels.

Supporters need to keep the faith and back the players to return to the form we saw in the first half of last month.

In other Everton news, a date has been set for the Toffees' appeal hearing against their 10-point Premier League deduction.

Chelsea dealt £50m Armando Broja transfer blow amid Jhon Duran replacement plan
Mauricio Pochettino says he is happy that Broja is part of his squad but Chelsea have outlined what price they would sell him for.

Fulham and West Ham are pulling together a late chase for Armando Broja, although neither are reportedly keen on the £50m price tag set by Chelsea.

The attacker, who has two goals in 19 appearances this season, has been constantly linked with an exit ahead of deadline day as Todd Boehly continues his player turnover. Mauricio Pochettino says the Albanian has "massive" potential and likened him to Harry Kane, who had to find his feet at other clubs before thriving at Tottenham.

However, it seems Boehly is not interested in a loan exit but a full sale. That said, football.london understands that Chelsea will not be considering any offers below their £50m valuation. This may be a sticking point for potential suitors.

Fulham have been credited with holding interest in Broja but journalist Simon Phillips says the Cottagers do not wish to spend more than £30m on an initial loan ahead of an obligation to buy. West Ham have more money to offer but it is unlikely they would splash out so much on Broja, who has three goals in 38 senior Chelsea games.

The Telegraph says that Chelsea are considering signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran as a quick-fire replacement should Broja indeed end up leaving. It is thought he is worth less than half of the price tag slapped on Broja and, at 20, is two years younger.

Reports elsewhere suggest that Villa have already turned down an approach from West Ham for Colombian Duran. With Unai Emery seemingly playing hardball, it indicates that the chances of Chelsea bringing in a striker - and thus allowing Broja to leave for less - before deadline day are slim.

Crystal Palace and Wolves have been previously mooted as attaining an interest in Broja, but neither would be able to get near the £50m valuation this month. Speaking last week, Pochettino said he was content with his striker options.

He explained: "We are assessing the squad like always. We had a conversation with the owners and sporting directors yesterday and today and we are looking, like all teams, for options, opportunities.

"I am so happy because we have Broja, we have different players that can play in the striker position and we need our second line offensive players to help the team score goals and help to win games. I am very positive and happy with the squad.

"We are working, if something appears, we will announce. At the moment we are assessing and working normally, how we have been working from the beginning of the season."

Everton line-ups for Fulham as Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison decisions made
Our writers pick their starting line-ups for the clash with Fulham in the Premier League

Chris Beesley - Harrison fills Doucoure role with Danjuma wide

For Everton's trip to Fulham I'll go with the team that Sean Dyche should have arguably picked against Luton Town on Saturday.

This correspondent is old enough to remember when the Blues and indeed most of their opponents played 4-4-2 and it's the formation that I was brought up on. It's also the tactic used predominantly by Dyche during his nine-and-a-half year stint in charge of Burnley but the FA Cup exit against the Hatters showed why he has seldom used it at Everton and instead favoured a 4-5-1.

Some Evertonians have been curious to see what it would be like to have Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto paired together, if their previous half an hour against Luton back in September had not been enough evidence. However, after another four months of the strikers getting acquainted with each others' games, it unfortunately didn't seem to have improved much in terms of the team's effectiveness, especially against a newly-promoted outfit whose meat and drink is dealing with a couple of big lads up front in opposition.

Many of us have fretted that the Blues' season might get derailed by an unfortunate injury to either Calvert-Lewin or goalkeeper Jordan Pickford but in fact it seems, a year into his reign, that the key to have Dyche's side plays is Abdoulaye Doucoure, who remains sidelined with a fresh hamstring injury.

Given the continued absence of Everton's top scorer, I would revert to the usual shape but bring Jack Harrison in from the wing as the central support for Calvert-Lewin and stick Arnaut Danjuma out wide.

My team (4-5-1): Pickford; Patterson, Mykolenko, Tarkowski, Branthwaite; Garner, Gueye, McNeil, Danjuma, Harrison; Calvert-Lewin

Joe Thomas - Scrap the front two

Well, no-one is suggesting he starts Beto and Calvert-Lewin up top are they?

I'm not, just to be clear. I'm not sure Sean Dyche will either, given his apparent acknowledgement the approach had struggled against Luton Town.

For me, there is an obvious pathway for tonight - at least unless there are any further injury issues. I say that because Dyche highlighted that Amadou Onana had a knock after the Luton game and was due to be assessed.

Not wanting to countenance the prospect of Everton being down to one senior central midfielder, I revert back to the 4-5-1 that has served Dyche well. I keep Calvert-Lewin up front. A goal is coming, he just needs to know he is being backed. I move Jack Harrison into the middle to play behind Calvert-Lewin. This is a tactic that has enjoyed some success - think Newcastle United at home and Crystal Palace away in the FA Cup, both games during which he slipped forwards through with cute balls that were not followed up with a finish.

And that brings me to Arnaut Danjuma coming in on the left. I cannot fathom why he has not started during the recent injury issues and if he does not start today then what on earth can we make of his standing with Dyche and within the squad. Danjuma is on the left for me as it is a preferred position of his and it means Dwight McNeil can help offer some protection to Nathan Patterson against Willian, who has caused Everton no end of issues recently.

My team (4-5-1) Pickford; Mykolenko, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, Patterson; Danjuma, Onana, Harrison, Garner, McNeil, Calvert-Lewin

The Opposition View: Everton at Fulham | Cottagers test for the Toffees
Stuttering Fulham looking to bounce back after dual cup exits

While January has been a slow month as it concerns transfers as well as matches, Everton can end the month on a positive note with three points in London - but they'll have to do it against a side that has had their number this season thus far.

Fulham has been inconsistent this season otherwise, but against Everton, has found success. A tough opening year loss was followed by a difficult loss thanks to penalty kicks at the end of the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup, but in a world where the next game is largely all that matters, a victory and three points against the old Blues boss as February looms would prove massive for the standing and confidence of this team of Toffees.

Yet, who will ultimately win? Of course, only time will tell, but in the meantime, we have some insight concerning the Cottagers.

Ahead of Tuesday's Premier League match between Everton and Fulham, we spoke with Russ Goldman of SBN's dedicated Fulham site Cottagers Confidential and the Cottage Talk podcast:

RBM: First off, tell us what Fulham have been going through in the Premier League and otherwise since last we spoke before the EFL Cup match?

RG: Well, it has been an up-and-down time since then for Fulham. There have been a few disappointing losses to Burnley and Bournemouth, but they beat Arsenal at home, which was amazing. Unfortunately, they followed it up with the two recent cup losses.

RBM: Who has been shining for the club recently? Offensively and defensively?

RG: Defensively, I would go with Calvin Bassey, but he is currently away at the African Cup of Nations. Going forward, I would say that Willian is still very dangerous, and he is a serious threat on the left-hand side.

RBM: How has Everton's old friend Alex Iwobi done in a Fulham shirt since making his move back to London to play for Marco Silva?

RG: Besides Palhinha, he has been Fulham's best player, and they miss him dearly as he is also away at the African Cup Of Nations.

RBM: Will Fulham be looking to add any players in the final days of January? I know at last check, we spoke about positions of need, but any specific names?

RG: I would hope they would bring in a striker and possibly a central midfielder, but at this point, Fulham look unlikely to get much done.

RBM: You predicted not too long ago a seventh place finish on the league table; are we sticking with this, and if so, why?

RG: Well, my prediction is not going to happen, but I will own my prediction and not change it. The Summer Transfer Window was a serious letdown and I was predicting that position based on Mitrovic not leaving, They really did not replace him so I got this one wrong.

RBM: How do you expect Fulham to set up on Tuesday? Which of Fulham's players do you think could cause Everton the most issues in the match?

RG: Willian and Antonee Robinson, I think, will give you all kinds of problems on the left-hand side. I expect Fulham to set up in a 4-2-3-1

RBM: Finally, what's your prediction for the game?

RG: I am going for a 2-1 Fulham victory, but it won't be easy at all.

Our thanks to Russ for his time.

Everton at Fulham: Opposition Analysis | Blues Must Halt the Slide
The team has to start picking up points ahead of a tough run of games

Coming off another poor result in exiting the FA Cup on Saturday to Luton Town at Goodison Park, the Blues form since the end of December is a worry. Everton have now managed only one win in eight games across all competitions, gaining just one point from their last four Premier League outings.

Admittedly, a close away loss to Tottenham Hotspur along with a home defeat inflicted by Manchester City were hardly surprising and a 0-0 draw at Goodison against Aston Villa was a decent enough result. The only terrible league performance over that stretch was a 3-0 walloping by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, where the team seemed ill-at-ease in its 5-4-1 shape.

Throw in a Carabao Cup exit on penalties against Fulham, in which Everton had been the better side, a creditable FA Cup stalemate with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park - the Blues having been unfairly reduced to ten men in the closing stages - and a dull 1-0 win over the same opposition in the replay and a case could be made for the club's form being more inconsistent, than awful.

Still, it's undeniable that the heady days of mid-September to mid-December, in which the Toffees won ten of 14 in all competitions seem long gone. Injuries have impacted the squad and a relentless series of ten games over a 39-day period from November 26th through to January 4th, with little rotation have left the players looking jaded.

Next up, Everton travel to Fulham for tonight's game at Craven Cottage.

Form
The Cottagers managed to ride out a turbulent summer transfer window, which was heavily affected by the Saudi Arabian league's sudden spending spree, and emerge intact. Losing the influential Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal was a blow, though the healthy €52m fee they received for the 28-year-old proved useful in rebuilding the squad, with players like Alex Iwobi, Timothy Castagne, Calvin Bassey and Raúl Jiménez arriving and bedding in as core members of the first team.

The club managed to hang on to the outstanding defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha, following a late bid from Bayern Munich, which may have been more important than any new signing.

Their form this season has been inconsistent, the Cottagers having managed to win consecutive games just twice: a pair of astonishing 5-0 victories over Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, with the second sequence consisting of a great win against Arsenal, paired with a rather more routine cup success over Championship outfit Rotherham United. Fulham have lost back-to-back games on three separate occasions.

Following that victory over Rotherham, the team is on a four-game winless run and their lone positive result, a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Cottage, saw them exit the Carabao Cup at the Semi-final stage, on aggregate. They've lost four of their last five in the league and await the Blues in 13th spot in the table.

Style of Play
Marco Silva is a 4-2-3-1 man and has stuck with this formation throughout, though he started the campaign in the similar 4-3-3. He's a manager who likes his team to get on the ball, as Blues fans will remember from his 18 months at Everton. A fluid style in possession, with plenty of movement and swapping of positions is emphasised and can present matchup problems for rigid defensive setups. Wingers are encouraged to come inside and width is provided by overlapping fullbacks, particularly ex-Blue Antonee Robinson, on the left.

Fulham enjoy a 49.9% share of possession, which is quite reasonable for a lower midtable side and demonstrates their desire to ask questions of the opposition. They use the ball well, posting an 83.4% pass accuracy (ranking ninth), courtesy of their possession game and helped by a selection of solid technical footballers. Tonight's hosts have scored 28 times in the league, slightly up on their xG (Expected Goals) statistic of 25.2.

On defence, Silva sets them up in a solid shape, anchored by Palhinha and does not overcommit going forward, evidenced by the team only conceding once via counterattack this term. The West Londoners have shipped 36, broadly in line with their xGA (Expected Goals Allowed) of 36.5. They permit the same number of efforts on goal as the Blues: 13.2 per 90 minutes. Fulham are defending set-pieces very well, conceding only twice and rank joint top along with Man City and Wolves.

Player Assessment
Willian will be a threat tonight, operating off the left flank. The Brazilian will be up against Nathan Patterson, whose positional defending has been weak and who has also looked reluctant recently to break forward, either due to a lack of confidence or by managerial instruction. The veteran winger is not the player he was of old, at 35, but is still agile, tricky, good on the ball and has an eye for a goal.

Palhinha has the ability to dominate Everton's midfield, which lacked its usual energy at the weekend. The Portuguese makes 7.21 tackles and interceptions combined per 90, along with 1.87 blocked passes and leads the team with 6.93 ball recoveries. He's tidy in possession also, completing 82.8% of his passes.

Solution
The Londoners have played one more game than Everton this month, so in theory the visitors should have been the fresher side tonight but unlike the Blues, Fulham rotated heavily in their 2-0 FA Cup loss to Newcastle United on Saturday, resting a number of key players. Sean Dyche was limited in some respects as regards team selection against Luton, but he certainly could have made some changes, both to the starting lineup and during the match.

Expecting the Toffees manager to alter from his preferred approach of sticking with the same eleven starters - barring injury or suspension - and largely ignoring his bench, appears fruitless at this point; the ex-Burnley man is going to stand by his principles, regardless. Right now, this adds up to a team comprised of tired players who he trusts and those on the outside, who are given scant opportunity to contribute. The situation is less than idea and continues to bother me.

Everton have actually played well overall in both outings against tonight's hosts this season, albeit winning neither and with the proviso of enjoying home advantage in each. Perversely, however under Dyche the Blues have generally performed better away from home, possibly due to the way he sets them up to play without seeing much of the ball and maybe also minus the pressure of an expectant Goodison crowd.

I'm expecting minimal changes in the Toffees lineup tonight; why would anyone assume anything else? Obviously Jordan Pickford will return, but the only real question is whether Calvert-Lewin, on a 15-game blank streak in front of goal, or Beto - who didn't pull up any trees on Saturday - will get the nod. I can't see Dyche sticking with a front two, off its poor performance against the Hatters, so for me it'll be DCL leading the line.

In for the Portuguese will be Ashley Young deployed as a right winger, with Jack Harrison moved inside in support of the lone striker. I feel Arnaut Danjuma and Lewis Dobbin will again be relegated to bench-warming duty, although a slight window of opportunity for one of them could open should Dyche opt to use Young at fullback, benching Patterson.

There was little reason for encouragement to be drawn from Saturday's fiasco, yet I have a feeling that Everton may unexpectedly rebound and put in a solid effort against the Cottagers. The team's back is against the wall and that may bring out the best from them on the road. It's tough to see the Blues winning against any half-decent opposition currently, but a hard-fought draw is attainable.

Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Everton

Jamie Carragher predicts unwanted first for Everton in Premier League clash vs Fulham
Jamie Carragher has predicted that Everton will suffer an unwanted first when they face Fulham in the Premier League on Tuesday (30 January).

The Toffees lost the corresponding fixture 1-0 on the opening day of the season through a Bobby De Cordova-Reid goal.

Everton have not lost home and away to Fulham in a single league campaign in 29 previous instances [BBC Sport], but Carragher expects that to change.

The former Liverpool defender backed Fulham to win 2-1 in his Sky Sports Super 6 predictions.

Poor run
Everton cannot afford for their disappointing run of form to continue for much longer if they are to ease these relegation concerns.

The Toffees stopped the rot somewhat with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa last time out in the league, snapping a run of three successive losses.

There has been an FA Cup third-round replay win over Crystal Palace since then, followed up by a 2-1 reverse to Luton Town in the next round.

Fulham have themselves been on the end of some disappointing results over the past couple of weeks, so both sides will be eager to hit back.

Everton have fared well in this fixture in recent times, having lost on just one of their last seven league trips to Craven Cottage.

A draw would still leave Sean Dyche's side in trouble, especially with Tottenham and Manchester City next up.

There is no reason why they cannot come back from the capital with all three points, but avoiding defeat is key.

Everton predicted XI, team and injury news v Fulham as Sean Dyche axes Beto
Everton are back in Premier League action again tonight, as they travel to Craven Cottage to face a tough Fulham side under floodlights.

It marks the third meeting of these two sides, with today's hosts having claimed victory in the earlier two clashes, first on the opening day of the league, and later on penalties in the EFL Cup.

The expectation is that, with the backing of their home crowd at last, they will roar to another easy victory.

Especially when looking at the form book, despite Marco Silva's men hardly posting the most spectacular run.

A home win over Arsenal exactly a month ago does stand out, but the Toffees are actually yet to taste victory in the Premier League since early December.

Sean Dyche has this torrid run, plus a huge injury crisis to contend with tonight.

Here's our predicted XI for Everton vs Fulham...
Despite his heroics in the FA Cup against Crystal Palace, and being left hopeless against Luton Town, Joao Virginia will naturally have to bow out from his goalkeeping position after an enjoyable stint.

Jordan Pickford, who has made himself a 'hero' in the eyes of former Everton boss Sam Allardyce and many fans since his £30m move in 2017, will mark the first of three changes from last time out.

He will sit behind a back three, as Dyche could well shuffle the defence to account for the limited personnel at his disposal.

Naturally, James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite will remain, whilst the managerial favourite Michael Keane also comes into the side too.

They will be flanked by the ever-present Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson, the latter of which is unlikely to receive competition for his spot just yet as Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman remain doubtful.

Amadou Onana and James Garner will then make up the midfield pairing, as always, and offer a screen for that back five to allow the front three to flex their creative muscles.

Whilst Dwight McNeil has been a mainstay under Dyche, given the two shared a successful spell at Burnley too, tonight could finally see him dropped in order to rest him and offer more offensive threat.

He should be replaced by Arnaut Danjuma, who will likely tuck narrower at times to aid Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front. The Englishman always seems to be preferred to Beto.

Then, with Jack Harrison on the other flank, he also boasts the tactical flexibility to come inside and operate in between the lines as a roaming attacking midfielder.

This front three will hope to cause problems to Fulham's backline and contribute to a fine result on the road at last.

Fulham, Brentford 'to rival Lazio for Plymouth Argyle's Morgan Whittaker'
Fulham and Brentford have reportedly scouted Plymouth Argyle winger Morgan Whittaker amid interest from Serie A side Lazio.

Whittaker returned to Plymouth on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window after spending the first half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at the Devon club.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Impressively, Whittaker has found the net in six of Plymouth's last seven league games, including in each of his previous three appearances in the Championship.

Despite being under contract until June 2027, Whittaker is attracting considerable interest in the final stages of the January transfer window.

Plymouth director of football Neil Dewsnip has revealed that the club have turned down a bid for Whittaker from Italian giants Lazio.

"Last night we received an official offer for Morgan from Lazio," Dewsnip told Plymouth Live. "Having discussed this internally and with the player's representatives, the offer was immediately rejected. Morgan is very happy at Argyle and we maintain our position that he is not for sale."

While it remains to be seen whether Lazio return with an improved bid, Whittaker has also emerged as a potential target for at least two Premier League clubs.

According to Football Insider, Brentford and Fulham have sent scouts to watch Whittaker in action in Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round tie with Leeds United.

The former Derby County man wore the captain's armband as the two Championship sides played out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road to send the fourth-round tie to a replay.

The report claims that the two London clubs are continuing to keep tabs on the player's situation as they weigh up whether to make a move before the transfer deadline on February 1.

Although Whittaker has been linked with a move away from Home Park, Plymouth will be reluctant to sanction a sale in the middle of the season.

However, should they decide to entertain a sale, the Pilgrims could stand to make a significant profit after signing him from Swansea City in a deal worth around £1m plus add-ons.

Bryan King shares verdict on Saudi-linked Abdoulaye Doucoure ahead of meeting with Fulham
Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham's recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells...

Bryan King believes that Everton boss Sean Dyche will be keen to keep hold of midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure and doesn't believe his absence against Fulham is linked to a move away from Goodison Park.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo (29 January), Doucoure remains absent for the Premier League clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday 30 January.

His absence has been a big blow for Dyche in recent weeks after his impressive form during the early stages of the season.

Doucoure has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in January (Fabrizio Romano, 20 January), although King believes that a move at this stage is unlikely.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: "From what I have heard the Saudis are not prepared to pay the amount of money that either Everton or the agent are asking for.

"If the official message from Everton is that the player is injured, then all we can do is go along with that message.

"It is a blow to have Doucoure unavailable, but to be honest I am not sure Sean Dyche even knows what his best team is because he is still trying to work out what players he has at his disposal.

"I am sure that there are five or six players at the club who he is not happy with and who he would much rather sell before Doucoure."
