Title: Fulham internationals during this break
Post by: SerbianLad on March 21, 2024, 03:12:56 PM
For those who like both international football and Fulhamthere are plenty interesting games to watch today and in the coming days.

Palhinha (7.45 pm UK time) and Lukic (5 pm UK time) play friendlies today, while BDR is up against Ream and Robinson in CONCACAF nations league (11 pm UK time).

And most importantly, Wilson plays in the EURO play-off semifinal against Finland at 7.45 UK time.

Others play their first matches either tomorrow or the day after that.

Palhinha played the whole game for Portugal in their 5-2 win over Sweden.
Lukic played the whole game for Serbia (Someone called Mitro came on in the second half) against Football Union (Russia) in their 0-4 loss.
Robinson and BDR both played in USA's 3-1 win over Jamaica. Tim was an unused sub.
Think I got that all right.

Lukic didn't play too badly all things considered (we were down to 10 men early in the first half). This match was a cash grab from our FA (reportedly it was the largest sum our national team recieved from a friendly match in history). It seemed like a set up from Russians as well. In the start of first half their player kicked ours in the stomach with his studs and got a warning, then few minutes later our player got sent off and they got a penalty for minimal contact. Joke of a match really. Will report on how Lukic played in what I hope will be a more normal match against Cyprus.

Harry Wilson was superb against Finland in the play-offs. He's become a real leader for them since Bale left scoring important goals and getting important assists in almost all of their big games.

I thought Robinson played reasonably well and Bobby was probably Jamaica's best player.

Didn't watch Joao as I was watching Harry, but would appreciate it if someone who watched that game (if anyone did) said how he played.

Joao coming back early which is nice.

From what I can tell on twitter it is seemingly just a knock for Bassey so nothing serious and he may still play, but no official sources on that

Yes good news .
That's my worry that players come back knackered after 2 games have 3 days rest and play 3 games in a week .With 2 away.Silva does his best work when he has time to prepare the squad and get the tactics right for whatever opposition.
Hopefully some more only playing 1 game .Wilson and Robinson will play 2 for sure.BDR as well.

Bassey on the bench so wouldn't appear to be too serious, but it does confirm there is some kind of knock as he would be starting otherwise.

USA team very lucky to have moved on.  Last play of game own goal brought them to extra time in which they scored to end up the victor.

USA coach is terrible, in my view, and it seems they knew nothing of Robinson's ability to run wide and deep.  Could not believe how few times Robinson was engaged in one of those deep opportunities.  But even with that critique alone, that coach has to be removed.  JMHO

Thought Robinson and BDR had "ok" games, nothing extraordinary, just a few good moments, but on balance acceptable shows.  Tim Ream did not play but was on bench.  Thought both teams lacked in quality.  Somewhat muted game to watch.

Hopefully that'll shut all the Nigeria fans for a while. Bullying your own player on social media is not on.

Unfortunately that's not something unique that only Nigerians do. Serbian fans are very guilty of it as well, and I'm sure England fans are too sometimes (Saka penalty miss comes to mind). Of course there are more normal fans than those kind of fans but unfortunately that minority is very vocal and they can affect players.

I couldn't agree more, he is trash. The problem is they brought him back after getting rid of him. I didn't want him in the first place. His tactics are "hey, look at our great athlete's and look at those Pulisic free kicks  ::angry::" and they always play as 11 separate parts and never together. They were very, very lucky.  Mexico will wipe the floor with us.  ::cry::

The players love Berhalter and that's why he was brought back. Generally not the best idea to go by the players wants.

Yesterday, Iwobi provided the assist for the 2nd goal in Nigeria's 2-1 win over Ghana, Bassey was an unused sub. FBT didn't even make the Senegal bench in their 3-0 win over Gabon. Broja came on in the 68th minute for Albania in their 0-3 loss to Chile.

Interesting sequence where Robinson misplayed a Jamaica throw-in, giving up the ball to BDR who promptly set up Jamaica's one goal.

De Fougerolles subbed on in the 93rd minute. Game was over at the point but nice for him to make his debut.

Bassey sent back to London by Nigeria. Still don't know what the injury is but this isn't great news. Really hope he doesn't have to miss any matches.

Was this something he picked up vs Tottenham or the internationals?

Unclear but I think it happened in one of the first training sessions Nigeria had.

Typical, let's hope it's not serious. I think it'll be fine for him to miss SU though.

Sweet, we are kings of the CONCACAF!!! (No, I don't know what it stands for... ::wink::) USA, USA.  The Mexico fans will never learn to keep quiet with that stuff...

Was busy yesterday so didn't get to watch matches yesterday, but Jamaica won the third place match vs Panama with BDR playing full 90 minutes (if anyone watched and is willing to share how he played it would be much appreciated). Both Robinson and Ream played the entire match, as USA won 0-2 against Mexico and secured a CONCACAF Nations League title (again, if someone could share how they played,I would appreciate it)

Today we have only two players playing, both in friendlies:

Lukic(Cyprus-Serbia 5 pm UK time)Broja(Sweeden-Albania 6 pm UK time).

Did okay, our head coach wanted to play two up top so switched him with Luka Jovic. It predictably turned out to be a horrible decision. We are being dominated by Cyprus at the moment. They even hit the post. Unless we change our head coach you should beat us very easily at the EUROs.

As it has been reported already here, Lukic played the first half in Serbia's 0-1 win over Cyprus. Broja played 77 minutes in Albania's 1-0 loss to Sweden.

Today we have:

Friendlies-Iwobi(Mali-Nigeria 8 pm UK time), FBT(Senegal-Benin 7.30 pm UK time), Castagne(as you all probably know England-Belgium 7.45 pm UK time), Leno(Germany-Netherlands 7.45 pm UK time), Rodak(Norway-Slovakia 6 pm UK time), Andreas(Spain-Brazil 8.30 pm UK time) and Mbabu(Ireland-Switzerland 7.45 pm UK time).

And a more important match, the EURO play-offs final-Wilson(Wales-Poland 7.45 pm UK time).

Rodak saved a penalty in Slovakia's 1-1 draw against Norway. Castagne played the whole match vs England, not sure how he got on as I was watching Wales, I hope someone can give a short report as I know probably a lot of you watched the match. FBT didn't even make the squad, Leno was on the bench. Andreas came on in the second half and from what I can gather from reading comments on twitter, he played well and took the corner from which Brazil equalized 2-2 (the match ended in 3-3). Mbabu came on in the 64th minute in Switzerland's 0-1 win over Ireland. Harry Wilson played well, imo at least. He scored his penalty in the shoot-out as well, but unfortunately they lost.

Iwobi is still playing, Nigeria is losing 1-0 to Mali.

Edit: it ended 2-0. Iwobi played full 90+ minutes.

Both played full match and played very well.  Inserting Ream into the squad made an enormous difference as he was consistently able to pick apart Mexico with his passes.
