Don't like football.... it's not their passion just a job.....Has anyone else heard this
Adrian Chiles spoke about this on his radio show - I think he knows several players, he's a big WBA fan.
He showed surprise, and seemed to think this was a recent thing - well, for most of us being a pro footballer was dream job when we were young, certainly was for me.
Is it because of the social media, and general, huge focus on the game at the
elite level? though obviously rewards are massive compared to when many of us were young.
Has the fun gone out of the game?
Well if they don't like football then perhaps they should move on to something that would give them more job satisfaction. There are vacancies as hospital porters which is a worthwhile job. This may mean a drop in salary but the benefit to their social conscience should compensate.
How many people REALLY enjoy their job?
I'd say it's less than 10% of people and most see it as a means to an end.
Why should footballers love what they do if not many other people don't like their jobs?
Bobby Zamora said he didn't like playing football, he was just good at it.
David batty, Leeds. Said he never enjoyrd playing and glad when he retired.

Yes I heard that about Zamora too.

I don't really think that is a fair comparison tbh when a lot of people have no choice but to do mundane boring jobs just to keep the wolf from the door. I would think that a lot more footballers love what they do than those that don't.
if you ever turn you hobby into a job it often soon looses its attraction, I imagine being a professional sportsperson is much the same
Ben White of Arsenal is supposedly like that
When working I used to really enjoy it....90% of the time it was hilarious
The only reason I never became a professional footballer and an FA Cup winner for Fulham was because I don't like football.
Gabriel Batistuta had said he didn't like football either - he was pretty good at it though.
Young David Bentley was the same. Not keen on it. Runs a garden centre just outside Valencia. Lovely geezer.
Watching Howe's Newcaste Arabia on Saturday he hates football too
In Jimmy Greaves autobiography he said he preferred to watch Rugby.
I remember reading this about Sylvain "Monica" Legwinski

I think cyclist Chris Boardman said he didn't like cycling, but was good at it.
Even the most glamorous jobs, like pro footballer, athlete, top actor or musician, must have their downsides, a lot different to when you just do something as a hobby.
But there are plenty of terrible jobs out there, where it would be very difficult to find any redeeming features, and where you don't even earn much. Personally, I've always tried to throw myself into any job I was doing, found that was the best way to get through, and get something positive from it.
I was in mining for years. Certainly agree your strategy Raymond.

I enjoyed my job. Can't imagine not enjoying playing football for Fulham as I enjoyed playing football anywhere, in the school playground or in the street at the end of Winslow Road using the Manbre and Garton big double doors as a goal.

Oh I do too. I have never once woken up and thought I didnt want to do what I'm doing. But it's rare.
As for playing for fulham, I think we'd all have given our right arm to fulfil that dream.
I played professionally in the 90s,mainly lower EFL leagues but in the end got tired of it. Training every day and having to be dedicated day in day out isnt easy. Stopped when I was 27 and so glad I did as leaving it later would have made it more difficult to change career path. Back then the money was loose change compared to today's game. Used to enjoy the Saturday nights out in town more than the games!
