In his programme notes for Saturday

"I wanted to touch on this early in
my notes to once again emphasise
to the Fulham community that I am
committed to the renovation of the
Riverside Stand and therefore a future
for Craven Cottage as our traditional,
spiritual and hallowed home ground.
While I've tried to make this point
clear over the past several years, and
just earlier this month reiterated it in
a letter to FA Council members in my
offer to purchase Wembley Stadium,
misunderstandings or doubts will
occasionally surface. You can judge me
by my actions, but until then, I ask you
to take my word"

and

"As for the sensational and fictional
headlines related to Slaviša this week,
I'm equal parts amused, astonished
and disappointed. I ask you not to
believe everything you read. Or, in this
case, don't believe anything you read."

The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Lighthouse

Yes but I am reading his notes where he tells me not believe everything I read. Is this a way of telling us he isn't telling the truth or is he just trying to point out that everyone else isn't telling the truth. This is all just too much to take in.

Once again we are left with nothing but doubts.

:hook:

The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Aside from the silly error mentioned by Lighthouse, that's a really good note IMO. Stuff on the Riverside stand, Wembley, Jokanovic, TC's injury, the academy, other recent accolades... that's a lot of different topics covered considering it's such a short article... and plenty of interesting, revealing, insightful commentary on those topics

Holders

Well, it reads well and he has said several times in the past that the Riverside will go ahead. Inevitably, with the passage of time, doubts can creep in. At first I was taken aback by the word "renovation", which perhaps means something slightly different in American, but he makes it clear later that he means complete renewal and some of the ideas mentioned will have been worth waiting for.

I couldn't help but be amused by the statement: "I'm just not sure anyone could feel good about the transaction (Wembley) if, say, 45 out of every 100 people were opposed or even had reservations." What an astute man.

You know, I'm often slated on here for being "happy clapper" "Deluded" "Lemming" but I read his notes re the team and, yes, of course they take an upbeat feel but I read it and it pretty much sums up how I feel.

I'm a pretty easy going chap. I like the guy and for whatever it's worth, I trust him.

"However, we have a
talented club built to battle and win at
this level, and I'm encouraged at the
news that our captain Tom Cairney is
closing in on a full recovery from injury
and return to the line-up. So, consider
me a believer.
Optimism also comes naturally
knowing we have a Head Coach in
Slaviša Jokanović who not only
understands and appreciates the
honour of representing Fulham, but
also the past two seasons has found
the right formula with his personnel to
hit our stride in time for the holidays
and a strong run in the second half of
the campaign. That should give all of
us comfort ahead of the international
break next month, especially given it
was at that point last season when we
began our climb in the table toward
eventual promotion. I know that was
then and this is now, and this is the
Premier League and not the
Championship, but the road to the
Play-Offs in the past two seasons was
demanding and daunting nonetheless
and we found our way. Slaviša's record
shows he has always led FFC admirably
when the stakes are at their highest,
and with 29 matches still to play in
the league - three quarters of the
campaign still ahead - I am sure the
same will hold true this season."

Robbie

Damned with unequivocal support. Two games, four points needed or that will be it.

AnOldBrownie

Slav will be the team manager next season...but I think most already knew that.

Does anyone know why he mentioned Joe Bryan and Christie specifically?

The Rock

I will say on results, we are torched. Just beyond belief.

It's hard to get passed it.

But I do think we'll see a 5-4 game against a Sheffield Utd or Man Utd, or whomever and will come clean.

Or everyone is out if a job.

Mickeyboro

Does anyone really think he actually wrote this stuff...?

Interesting notes from the Shad as always I don't doubt his passion for the club,as always though seems to leave a lot of questions with few definitive awnsers.

As much as I may want to point up the futility of some of the actions performed by those who own and direct the activities of FFC, I will always try to tread a careful path.  Football is full of different characters, and the monied people who run the modern game have come about their wealth is many different ways, including, almost by default, making it the hard way.  I am careful to understand that I cannot know, with any certainty, who is who.  All I can do is form an opinion about each, and hope my opinion is broad minded enough to facilltate the fact that it will sometimes be way off the mark simply because the truth has either been carefully hidden from me, or my research has been deeply flawed by my own failure to search in the right places.  He has probably has as many moments of failure as he has had of success, but he obviously knows how to deal with either of them in order to preserve his values.

Khan's writings in tomorrow's official programme are special.  He signs off on these pieces and whether he dictates them, writes them himself, or has a ghost writer do it for him, the content is always instructive.  His actions over the FA and Wembley saga were very profound, almost immediately comprehending the difference between massive support for an idea and half hearted interest, even before a vote had been cast.  Mr Khan isn't interested in being divisive.  From that follows the shall we, shall we not sack the coach, perhaps also a very unclear action to take unless the evidence is overwhelming, and also rather divisve so far as Club interests are concerned.  Mr Khan wants a united team as he has demonstrated in the past.  Perhaps Mr Khan knows Mr Jokanovic rather better than we think he might, if not in the specific football details but in the qualities of character that one can see in a sporting fighter.  His mentions of specific achievers in his notes is instructive too.  Mr Khan wants them in his team.  Again that is about what works in the best interests of Mr Knan's assets just as the Wembley decision tells us.  He isn't telling us about the future he is telling us about the present and what that 'next step' is all about a point he also makes about the Riverside.

He has my attention.

I prefer to take our owner's words at face value, and  am grateful to him for his positive backing of the club, and for keeping us fans informed - when before  has a Fulham owner been so communicative with the fans?

IKnowNothing

To me there's no greater pleasure than building or watching someone create something. Thru the good or bad, failure and success, There's nothing like it. Its why I watch football.
When I see this team, as hard as it is sometimes. I know that something special is building. 1 2 3 years.  It will happen. Thank You Mr. Kahn and Fulham FC. Keep building.

he says because they made their prem debuts and as he mentioned betts and sess as accademy boys I suppose he was making a point.

Khan is looking like a good chairman for us but I think he may have a very difficult decision to make about Jocanovic if we fail to get a win in the next couple of games. I hope he has a short list for his next coach in his mind.

Twig

It' a good read, very reassuring. I admired the way he gracefully withdrew from the proposed Wembley purchase and I am beginning to really like the way he is running our club.  I'm taking him at face value not trying to read too much between the lines. Why not? He hasn't given us reason to mistrust him.

I agree.  There has never been any real reason to be cynical about his motives and, for me, there has never been any hint of duplicity or insincerity about the way he works and communicates.  There are and have been many football chairmen/owners who you wouldn't trust 'as far as you could throw them'.  He does not fall into that category.

Mr. Khan is a very successful businessman but also comes across as being a courteous and decent human being.
