Has Ranieri been taking tactics advice from Warnock? Or big Sam perhaps? This is the most dull match I think I've ever seen and it's at home to bottom Huddersfield!  Very very droll viewing.

Cardiff's game at Leicester this afternoon was far from boring :-)

I'll take several boring 1-0 wins if it gets us up the table

Matt10

Boring points for now, sexy football way later. Glad we raised the pressure in the second half, was nice to see.

Illiad

Same here.  I'll take this all day long.  As long as we get out of relegation zone, boring will do.

Have fans forgotten our brilliant play away to Huddersfield? Where we were humiliated and lacked fight or passion lasting the whole match and not just 45 minutes. We have a rare clean sheet, rode our luck but were much the better team in the second half. Yet fans don't like it and they much prefer losing by a few goals and looking at pretty play.

Much to work on and far from being a decent style or set up. But isn't it better than we have been playing?
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Maybe the tactics he thinks are to suite the players, but he has to play Sess. The window is soon to open and we have to do good business. The goals against have dropped noticeably.

Brighton fans didn´t find it boring when they ground out 1-0 wins to get promoted. We are unbeaten in 3 with 5 points, 2 clean sheets & should have had 9 points due to dreadful referee decisions on our 2 stonewall pen appeals. I am far from bored. I assume you would rather we play Tiki-Taka & got relegated.

I will take 1-0 in our favor .coyw

If we play like we did today against any of the other 18 teams in the league we will lose. The was nothing 'necessary' about today's tactics or style. Terrible starting XI from Ranieri.

What a way to set up at home against the weakest attack in the division. Glad for the points but CR is lucky he got away with it. Did he play Vietto so he could confirm how poor he is! Got a bonus when hopefully he now knows how poor Seri is as well. Hope we dont see them again but fear we will.

Today's game was far from boring. Did you go? If so I'm surprised you said that. Great atmosphere. When results are so important I don't find any game boring
I was there, standing in the Putney end

I went and the first 45 was the worst I've seen us play for many years. I think you need to consider how toothless Huddersfield are. Irrespective of the ultimate result, we were worse for most of today than in any of those other poor home games against Palace, Bournemouth, Watford et al.

It's never boring when we win, especially in our current position, I hope we can have a few more boring wins.
But CR has to get his team selection right from the start as we will not keep getting away with it, especially against the stronger sides.

Totally agree - a win is a win, but the first half was like watching an Isthmian League match.

Camel Club

All that mattered today was the 3 points. This was a genuine 6 pointer and that in itself will have negatively affected the fluency of our play. If we had lost today an already difficult task would have been made that much more difficult.

As it is we have a bit of momentum,  have a second clean sheet to our name and look a tighter unit.

Let us savour today and hope for a decent performance against Arsenal before we play Oldham in the FA Cup and go to Turfmoor full of confidence in a couple of weeks.

FinFFC

People seem to go on and on about the team selection. For me it was not that bizarre, but the tactics that we employed with it. Why put up a team that should be capable of keeping the possession, if nothing else, and then instruct the backline to bang it long all of first half. So selection of tactics is the biggest problem for me.

That starting line-up might work just fine, if Tom was played as #10, Vietto next to Mitro and the wingbacks being instructed to get to the byline all the time. And, as a general idea being "keep the ball".

Woolly Mammoth

Yes it was to a certain extent the wrong tactics, but definitely some wrong players. Vietto should not be allowed anywhere near the first team, he is the invisible man, like other lightweights like Fonte and Jozabed, all passengers, and a symptom of our hopeless recruitment unit.

Positives a settled back 5.mitro up front, Chambers midfield.negatives midfield around the above players.
