The reaction to the handball

Caught part of a discussion on SKY when Phil Thompson was suggesting the little cheat was right to do what he did as it was for the referee to call foul play.

Knowing the WHU fans as I do, I'm sure they'll think it was a brilliant piece of deception.  I'd be ashamed of an FFC player who didn't own up, I wondered how others feel?

Does this fall under the successfully deceiving a match official and will he get a ban like Dwight Gayle for his dive

Didn't see much reaction from our players, were they too all unsighted?

I don't think they could be bothered.

Exactly or maybe having a quiet word in the ref's ear they might have been afraid of a yellow or red card, enter Nick Bateman!!

In which case let's hope we get a last minute winner against Thompson's Liverpool via a disputed handball and then watch his self righteous response!

The ref was lee mason so no more need be said

The hand ball was not picked up in real time and there was hardly any reaction from our players to question the goal. Had there been any conviction I would hope Chambers or Rico would have chased the referee. During the countless replays on hesgoal, including the one from behind the refs line of sight, the header did look legitimate so perhaps we offer some slack there. The lino would have been unsighted so it was only Ranieri who spotted it and questioned the goal. Does he have eagle eyes or a monitor or did the big screen give it away. The replays of the side on view show the whole awkwardness of the double movement and also show how it was impossible to spot from any other angle. What we needed was plain simple honesty or VAR.

Good call from Cornwall...we should have Mr Bateman in the dugout, at least until he is sent elsewhere.

On a more serious note the authorities actively call out all manner of things (racism, abuse, antisemitism etc) in football when they have no option but to do so but 'cheating' is apparently okay when it is of the  more subtle kind that officials miss time and time again.  A post game six match ban might just encourage a bit more honesty at the time, don't you think?

I think Rico was complaining.

There is no chance we would get away with it against Liverpool. Our man would be given a red card as well.

A tight call and the player's response in keeping quiet is what is called " being professional ".

I will remember it as "the hand of  a hammer goal" that is not quite blatant enough to match the hand of god goal.

Wasn't that important  as they would have scored another goal if needed.
