If there has been no contact by WBA to Slavisa Jokanovic - then I am sorry Shahid and Tony need to move heaven and earth to build bridges with him and get him back now until the end of the season. Also allow him a greater say in the players we recruit. It will probably mean Mitro would stay, we should then go and buy Dwight Gayle from Newcastle and play 4-3-3 next season - the front three being Ryan, Dwight and Mitro!

+1 I wondered if you meant Roy Dwight....

It's never gonna happen though as both the Khans and Slav way too proud to make it possible.

*would love to be proved wrong but just don't see it.
First game: Fulham 4 Burnley 0, December 12th 1998.

I'd give both my kidneys to have Joka back

Hatch007

To many of my non FFC supporting mates that have asked, I've expresed a view that rarely could a football manager's sacking have been so devisive amongst that particular clubs' fans. Certainly I would have given Slav more time, if for no other reason than the previous two seasons in which we were very ordinary pre-Xmas. His team selections often left me as bemused as I was angry but he proved us all wrong after Christmas in 2016/17 and, most spectacularly, 2017/8.

Whereas I can't believe there was a fulham soul not ecstatic when CR was let go, it seems conservatively 50% would have persevered a while longer with Slav.

I think to turn back to him now, as unlikely as that may be, would probably be a retrograde step but then again, how much worse can the situation get?

Why the hell would Slavisa come back. To try and replicate what he already did once which was some ask in the first place.

If I was him I would go abroad, he deserves a top level position.

Exactly. He wouldn't come back here for all the tea in China and I wouldn't blame him one bit.

Fernhurst

What a lovely thought to play with, great respect and admiration for Slav as a mature man and entirely because of that I don't think there is any chance of getting him back.

Roy Dwight Captain, there's a blast from the past.
Did you know he was Elton Johns uncle?
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

Absolutely concur with all the positives about Jokanovic of which there was so much more of than the negatives.

I think Fernhurst sums him up perfectly and as others have said why on earth would he come back here when he has already given us his best endeavours towards success and been rejected out of hand.  Why does it happen so often that the wrong person is sacked as a fall guy when something bad happens because of someone else entirely?

Also he wouldn't sign a new contract, that always puzzled me,was money, recruitment and unfortunately we will never know.

Surely he'd consider a return. Aside from having a squad that already suits and knows him (something he's historically taken a very long time to establish) he'd also be virtually untouchable by the board and fans for a while, such would be everyone's delight just to have him back.

Clearly we can also afford his salary demands.

Personally i reckon the Khans *can* bring him back if the will is there. If they don't get him back it will be because they didn't want to, not because they weren't able to.

Maidstone Lee

I could not think of a better person to manage us in the Championship for all the points raised above. Sadly I think with the way TK operates his stats model, Jokanovic wouldn't touch us again :( If TK took a step back or at least gave the manager more control, then I think he would be tempted. We have to try, there aren't many better options out there.
Stand up if you still believe!

Your post is eminently sensible and certainly a best fit solution for FFC, but I am sure there are a lot of complex and unrevealed reasons as to why Ranieri was directly welcomed into the Khan's clique, but SJ either never wanted to go there or perhaps made it clear to them that his team of players and coaches was his clique and that is where he belonged as a true professional.   Just thoughts.

He was his cousin.
Everything is difficult before it's easy!

Woolly Mammoth

Slavisa would not want to come back whilst the Khans operate the way they do, they were fools to offload him. But we knew that anyway, and he would be a fool to comeback.
Why would he, TK does not deserve him, Slavisa deserves far better. It's a shame, but it's just another one of their famous own goals.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘
