It's never enough for some!

The second half was very good from Fulham and we completely dominated them. We are missing our first and second choice strikers, and we carved out 3 or 4 clear-cut chances which Mitro or AK47 would have buried if it fell to them. Given that we were poor in the first half, the second half was much better.

Match stats (FUL - BIR):
Possession: 77.3% - 22.7%
Shots (on target): 15 (5) - 6 (2)
Passing accuracy: 84.5% - 52.9%
Corners: 9 - 4

You can't really argue with that. And yet the fact we didn't win by 4 or 5 is not enough for some, ignoring these mitigating circumstances.

H4usuallysitting

1st half we had 86% possession and no shots on target

1st half we had 86% possession and no shots on target

So Scott read them the riot act at half time and we were much better second half.

So what happened in the first half? Remember Birmingham haven't won for 9 matches.

Joe Bryan made the difference for me

Almost another game without a goal, we really are missing Mitro and Kamara but our realistic target is now the play offs and hopefully Mitro will be back and fully match fit by the time of our first play off match. It would be nice to be able to say the same about Kamara but really we have no idea what is the matter with him.

Riverside

What is the status of Kamara ?
Any hope of a return soon ?

Fulham Fans reactions.

1/ Can't wait for the season to restart. Chance for promotion

2/The season has started we are rubbish. I hate Parker he has ruined our side

3/I hate Parker he has ruined the squad that should walk this league

4/ We were lucky

5/ Parker has ruined this side, we were lucky

6/ Football is so boring under Parker.

Does anybody actually enjoy the game anymore or just enjoy the moaning?
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Stevieboy

I hope the next 5 games are almost without a goal and that the opposition almost manage to keep a clean sheet!!

Sadly the style of our play has lowered my enjoyment this season, not really sure who to blame but it must include Parker and a lot of the players, never really enjoyed moaning!

You mean haven´t won, sorry to correct you.

Reading the riot act, funniest comment I have read on here for a while, but do agree we did do much better in the second half and scraped home. The play offs almost secured for us now and then we will finally realise we are not good enough for promotion. If we can get past Forest in the semi final, Brentford will expose our weaknesses again, hope I am wrong?

You can't really argue with that.

In the sense that this is factual information, you're right - I can't argue with it. Even in the sense that it shows we were better or more prolific than our opponents in four key areas of the game, you're right - I can't argue with it

What I will say by way of response, however, is this: At this stage of the season both two years ago and three years ago, I was enjoying watching us play far more, and feeling excited at the prospect of the play-offs. Two and three seasons ago, our performances inspired a feeling in me that we could gain promotion.

This time round is markedly different. The lack of excitement in our matches leaves me numb at times. I hope for play-off success. But our performances do nothing to build up those hopes.

And even now I've seen the statistics, I don't feel any different.

Yep, should read haven't won for 9 matches.

We arguably have the most creative players outside of the Prem and we created nothing until the 65 minutes.

This was a frustrating match to watch. Tactics are one thing, but Birmingham put 10 men behind the ball and sat very deep. They defended aggressively, and were well coached. Bryan had to come on because square balls to Odoi was an instant recycling back inside, not to mention Odoi had the yellow.

For me, again, it came down to the runs off the ball. BDR just doesn't seem to anticipate well enough. Don't get me wrong, he was brilliant in the goal, but throughout the match he was just not aggressive enough to be an option in the box.

Our play right now is relying heavily on quick pass combinations at the top of the box - and it is very easy to read. All we needed was just one person to choose not to make an immediate pass back, and collect to shoot instead. I feel Onomah would do a job at the striker position over BDR, and move Knockaert out of the RW spot. Let Cav and Knock fight it out on the left. Onomah is aggressive and can strike a ball. We badly needed it today.

Have to say Cairney played out of his mind again. It was no surprise to see him cramping at the end. Put in an all out shift from front to back.

Not the best playing, but at least we got the 3 points. Time to keep the momentum, but hope Parker sees the same spots that need attention.

Good post.

I find you're one of only a handful on this forum who, when they use the word 'tactics' in a post, actually explain what those tactics are.
