I think it is in the Evening Standard that Scott Parker wants to sign 30 year old Gayle from Newcastle.
Good signing or not.

Not for me, i'd like to see us sign el buffalo from rangers, bargain at 15m

HillingdonFFC

No for me, had one decent season in the prem with Palace but struggled to score regularly at this level for a few seasons now
Surely there must be better options out there? Think he'll be cheap & prolific in the championship should we go down so we'll probably get him

mrmicawbers

No from me.He will be looking for a fat contract as it maybe his last and I would prefer someone fitter and younger if we want a permanent signing.

You joking? Even Rangers fans want him out. Past his best, overweight and a bit of a scumbag. Wouldn't pay 5m for him.

No, Fulham wanting him has gone on for years. He has in reality only had a couple of decent season in the championship (includes hat-ricks, so a bit flattering). Really hasn't done it in the Prem. Too injury prone.

I would take a punt on him for the right price/contract. I know he's had injury issues but he knows how to find the back of the net. Whoever we get we all know we need someone who can score goals. We've shored up our defence and now this is our weakness.  Without goals we can't win games and that will mean relegation for sure.

Will he score more goals than AK, Kebano or Cav, or maybe even the 3 of them added together....yes probably...a relatively cheap option to try and keep us in the PL...go for it Fulham!!

Buy?   As in lock in an unrealiable, non-premier league proven striker that can't give us a consistent 80 minutes a game?

Heck no.

And the main reason?   Even if he's only 15 million, I'd rather add that 15 to another 15 and get a 30 million striker that could be our main premier league striker for the next 4-5 seasons.

I don't rate Gayle at the EPL level at all.  Better than RLC and Cav?   Sure...at finishing.   Not sure he's better at anything else.

Stef 73

Past his best at 24? Would love to see him playing up front with mitro, would be savage

And who do you suggest? We need someone in, asap, who can hit the ground running,  score some goals and help keep us up. That's all we need to be concerned with atm, staying up. Never mind the next 4/5 seasons!

Stef 73

Plus i doubt a £30m striker would sign for us

Finnans Right Peg

I would take him for 8 to 10 million with a bonus for newcastle should we stay up and for what its worth I would bring in sturridge too

Woolly Mammoth

Dembele at Peterborough might be a better prospect. Or how about Toney at Brentford, worth a try. They are out there closer to home than you can imagine. Even Sturridge could do a job short term to keep us afloat if he is managed correctly. Not forgetting Josh King at Bournemouth & Boscombe.
Money talks and it can talk very loudly if Fulham uses their loaf.

Spot on.

No matter how good someone might be in seasons to come, we can't be doing with buying a player who will need a dozen matches to get up to speed. Because, by the time he is, it'll probably be too late.

If Scott thinks Gayle can do a job, and feels he can fit in with the team then I'm all for this - he's experienced and  can score at this level.

If  we can get him, get him, there isn't much time to mess around, and i trust those more in the know than myself.

look at Babel,  noone thought he would do anything, yet he was one of our best players, and we wished he'd been with us from the start of the season.

Gayle knows the PL and he can hit the ground running, so I'd be happy to have him. Proven goal scorer in the Championship also. Personally, I'd prefer someone like Origi from Liverpool, on loan. If Liverpool go out of the cup this week, he is not going to get much game time. Hope we get some attacking players in before the Chelsea game. Can't afford to wait until the end of the window.

Definitely not. He'd be forever serving bans down here.
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

He's almost at the end of his contract and scores goals in the Championship. So maybe a relatively safe buy if things don't go our way this season.
