Do me a favour....

Don't get me wrong - Egypt are no mugs, but the likes of Brazil and Spain are lightyears ahead of us on the basis of that first-half debacle.

ImperialWhite

Why are England wearing our away red kit?

Brede Butter Pudding

Oh please, do me a lemon. Win the world cup? Not when Bobatov Zamora is at home watching!

3-1. Much improved second-half.

As for Bobby. It's laughable how the likes of Heskey can even be considered over Zamora, surely Capello's preference must be for 'form players' - Heskey rarely fields for Villa.

jarv

Not a chance. I would not put 10p on them. They have dodgy keepers, back 4 a shambles now. Ferd and Cole injured, Terry is crap and who is the right back again\?  Neville?
Crouch....brilliant, scores all his goals against the third tier's finest.

Heskey starts nearly every game for Villa now badger. Has done for months. Carew is on the bench. Doesn't mean I think he is better than Zamora, but he gets to play all right at Villa.

4 of our first choice back 5 out, and rubbish front two for the first half. as soon as we started pushing up the pitch we dominated egypt (who are egyptian champions for the last 6 years). friendlies tell us very little.

Well, putting 3 past Egypt isnt that hard of a thing to do after all...
The Dude abides.

Win the what????? not on that perfomance for sure..... What's the question.... if .... Baines Waldcott and Brown are the answer. ??? ???

However I think Milner is and should have a seat on the plane.

England will need all their big guns firing at once and confidence to be high to make the quarter final ..... again!!!

Rupert

Face facts, we have only won the World Cup when a Fulham defender was in the team, and the only other time we got to the semis there was a former Fulham defender in the team (had Parker still been with us we would have won it, this is a true fact and anyone who disputes it must be hounded to their grave), so unless Villa are ordered to sell young Nicky to us and Capello picks him, forget it.
Maybe in four years time.
Any fool can criticise, condemn and complain, and most fools do.

Fernhurst

and what a lovely day it turned out to be..... so proud to see George representing my team....... and to think I turned down a ticket the night before the match to sit huddled around a black and white telly with me mates.
Ah well.... 44 years on they are still my mates

blingo

There is no reason why we should not win the world cup. What makes you think that the likes of Brazil are so special only beating ROI by two goals? And the Spanish always have at least one dodgy game during the world cup.

Get behind the team instead of looking for negatives and we might just do it.

alfie

Not that i think England will win world cup, but truthfully how many of us thought we could go to Shaktar and get a result, it's all about performance on the day, we could have a real bad run up to finals and then play a blinder, or we could be brilliant pre cup and be crap at the tournament,  who knows??
Story of my life

Sadly she wasn't

100% correct Alfie but what is the point of some on here shooting our chances out of the water before we have even played a game?

Doesn't make any sense does it Blingo? I think I would be measured in my expectations but England has a very good squad of players who all play in the best league in the world and if they can play the 'English way', they have a chance to beat anybody. Remember, my team beat Spain in the Confederations Cup and gave Brazil a decent game, well in the first half anyway...so England has a good chance if they can maintain form throughout the competition. Capello's going to have to make sure they are playing well TOGETHER coming into the tournament as well, which I am sure he will have them doing just that.

My only concerns would be the personalities of some of the players disrupting the team chemistry but I assume Mr. Capello has that part figured out.
