There's a lot of people writing off Tim for the coming season, including a few people who have "canonized" him over the years.
He's not that old, has vast experience and had a wonderful season this year, numerous Man of the Match awards.
I know the PS is entirely a different "Ball game" and that astute managers will suss out his weakeness, which basically
has come from poor goalkeeper passing or dodgy defensive inter-passing, (a la Parker Ball} which has put him in
embarraaisng situations

So, all of a suden he's the 'pariah' on the list of people to be replaced.
He has made Tosin a 'superstar' by covering his back with his tactical awareness.
I suspect he is in Marco's plans this season and could/should be made captain.
I think all Marco has to do is tweak the system slightly and bring in a more defensive
midfielder and perhaps play Tim as a "sweepwr
"If you have the legs, love Fulham and have the technical awareness, mid 30's won't be a problem
for Tim REEEEEAM

Talk about legends.....

VERY DAFT AND A LOT DAFTER THAN I SEEM, SOMETIMES

Whitestone

The club twice tried to replace him, firstly with Mawson and then with Kongolo. Had either of those not suffered repeated injuries I doubt Ream would have gone on to make as many appearances as he has. I'd be surprised if the club didn't sign a new first choice left CB this summer, because as previously seen, Ream isn't up to the challenges of the Premier League.

S.F.Sorrow

In his 7 years at the club he has only really had 1 1/2 good seasons: Last season and the second half of Joka's promotion season. The rest of the time he has been average at best and a disaster and a liability at worst (even in the Championship).

Ream looks great when we're dominating games but his lack of pace and tendency to do stupid things under pressure will be a disaster against faster players and high pressing teams in the Premier League.

Ream has been a loyal servant to the club and he is a true professional but I honestly don't understand how anyone can think he is even remotely strong enough defensively for the Premier League. I can only assume we must have kept him as a 4th choice and/or for morale.

Your off your rocker.🙄

I think the pace of the Prem will catch him out at times.

He's been a loyal servant, and deserves his place in the squad but if he's first choice our defence will be in a bit of trouble.

RaySmith

He will be a valuable squad member, who could well feature as first choice in at least some games.

His form last season was so impressive.

He wasn't given a new contract for sentimental reasons.

Dream land or is it Reem land, much as he is a favourite he's simply not good enough for the Premier.

No, it was contractual. Based on triggering number of appearances. As I understand it.

MartyFFC

I love Tim, proper pro, and a really good character to have amongst the ranks. However, he was our player of the season under Joka but flopped in the PL the following year. In the limited game time he got in Parker's PL season prior to the arrival of Tosin/Andersen, he again looked way out of his depth. I doubt he's suddenly going to become PL quality at the age of 34

I suggest watching some old games back, you will find yourself to be wildly mistaken

That makes sense.  Much as he has been a great servant to the club he is simply not premier league standard, as has been proven before...

I like ream
I think he is a bit too slow for the prem and that is possibly a problem. Hpwever he has matured into a much better player, and I always thought he was good. moore was slow but still the best player on the park, i is about how you read the game.
i think silva will start the season with ream and tosin as his number one pairing unless we get a crackerjack signing to replace ream
ream played really well in the cup against man city and i think those that have it in for him will be rather disapointed come the first game of the season.

The one thing that is noticeable about the premier league is the speed it is played at. Tim hasn't got that in his locker, even if he ever had it. Yes he has done a good job for us over the years but even he must realise the prem is likely to be beyond him this year. I can understand him getting a new contract as with 9 subs he may very well be needed but as a starter I would suggest a big no from me

toshes mate

As I understand it, Tim Ream had the target set by his coach to be available for every Championship match which he did (see his most recent video which also tells you why he stayed and why his retention is deserved).

Neither Andersen (who is a class act), nor Adarabioyo (for whom the jury is still sitting on the subject of reaching that higher level) saved us in our last attempt to stay up when Ream hardly figured once Andersen arrived.  Ream like Mitro was effectively sidelined by a coach with limited ability and zero imagination.  If Ream is considered a starter in the PL then that is fine by me because his performances compared to Adarabioyo in the Championship were in a different zone to the youngster.

The slate is clean and next season has yet to be written.  I hope Ream gives even more than ever before because that may teach some people to keep their mouths shut but I doubt anything would change their minds.

MartyFFC

No chance will he be starting the first game. And Tosin/Andersen did everything you could've expected to save us from relegation, however the reason we went down was because of an inability to score, not defend. Had we persisted with Ream and Odoi at the back we would've be relegated by the end of January with 100+ goals conceded

It's funny how you find yourself agreeing with specific posters most of the time. Eloquently put and aligns with my views. Model pro for FFC.

Also funny how we see the game differently. I didn't think Ream carried Tosin at all last season. I wouldn't say Tosin carried Ream either. I'd say they complimented each other for the standard required in the championship. But I certainly don't think Ream was in a class of his own.

What's missing from this analysis though is just how bad Ream was at the start the premier league season when we were shipping goals for fun and had pundits suggesting we would finish bottom by a stretch which also meant TK tweeted how sorry he was to the fans for not quickly addressing the glaringly obvious. That we desperately needed at least one CB early doors last season (in prem) and Ream wasn't the answer. Whilst I personally find it laughable that the jury is out on Tosin on whether he can step up (him and Andersen are EPL standard defenders, IMO), the idea that Ream would be a starter and people are fine with that, just worries me greatly to be honest. Every single metric points to Ream not being a Prem defender, and that's when he was younger and more agile. Factor in his age and it's an absolute recipe for disaster. One I really don't think the club or Silva will want.

Proof will be in the pudding won't it though. If the season starts and Ream is one of our two defenders and we do well, I'll eat my words and be ecstatic about it. But, if I'm a betting man, anyone wanting Ream to be our starting CB when the full squads assembled, will be very disappointed I'd wager. FWIW, love Ream, love that he'll be a squad member next season and look forward to the REAM! chants in the odd game in Prem and cup matches he'll no doubt play in.

You cannot base an opinion on one game but under pedantic Parker when our season was stuttering to an end Tim was brought in at Old Trafford. I expected a right good hiding but we got a 1-1 and he was outstanding and shut my big fat ugly mouth right up.

filham

After his performances in 46 games last season Tim has to start next season as our first choice center back alongside Tosin.
However Silva would be wise to have a new top class center back available ready to feed into the team incase Tim finds the going too tough.

MartyFFC

Yeah I absolutely agree with FFC1987. Whilst I don't think he's good enough for the PL, he really is a top professional and his character for me was epitomised by his performance away at Boro, when he took a free kick flush to the face in a MOTM performance. However if he does end up being first choice next season, I will be absolutely delighted to be proven wrong......
