Not in the slightest bit interested in it. Agnostic about the royal family and the various spongers and hangers on

Okay - fair enough but as a spectacle can't you see it at that level ?
See where you are coming from SG but it is something we do well and the stage management of this week end has been magnificent.
However, a lot of us may be inclined to change our minds if we had a glance at the bill, bet it would pay for the winter heating in a good few poor homes.

We really enjoyed it and thought how we can still do great spectaculars in this country -great advert and judging by the amount of foreign tourists in Windsor last week the Royals are still a masive draw for tourism. Glad it isn't President Boris.

Thought Rod should be put out to pasture - he was magnificient when he was in the Faces but is like the bloke down the pub who tries to sing along with the pub singer - who Elton is now channelling.

Very sorry if I offended anyone (I thought I might) but only watched about 3 minutes of it. One thing I did notice was William's missus looked bored out of her mind when the camera caught her, different generation I guess. After watching England I decided to watch the old film (the first one with spandau ballet twins)..."the Krays". Not too bad.

Guys just read the OP. Nobody cares about your opinion on the Royal Family or the cost.

That was exactly my views on the thread. How could it be highjacked to arms dealing and the other issues raised?

You've got Teignmouth festival coming up in a couple of weeks. That'll be much better.

Please keep opinions and posts on point.
We all have our personal opinions about the Royal Family, society and its ills and what we should spend money on, but a number of those subjects are avoided on forums such as these.

So please, be respectful of others' opinions and make your own point, on point, without deriding others on this board.

Personally I have not had the opportunity to watch the concert as yet, so I am unable to provide a point of view, yet.
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

I would have thought it should have been British singers and seemed very American. Not sure why a song about New York would have seemed appropriate for London.

Dodgin

Just watched it, fast forward quita a bit, bit out of touch with most of the latest names. Could have done with a Max Bygraves sing a long.

Was hoping Michael Fagan, the Buck House intruder, would appear to do his version of God Save The Queen.

I did enjoy the Queen banging her tea cup with her spoon with Paddington, they should have done the whole song like that.

The bits I saw were spoiled by singing and dancing. The spectacular backdrop and light show were brilliant. But off key singing by old pop stars just didn't do it for me. But I am sure the acts I didn't see were very good.

Felt the same. It was a brilliant advertisement for the country, but some of the acts were well passed their best. Was surprised by the amount of acts from the USA. Diana Ross looked lost when she came out on stage. Not sure Rod is able to sing some of his classics at 77.
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Craig David was great glad he is getting recognition he deserves.

Stoneleigh Loyalist

I can't remember her name but that twelve year old drummer was fantastic.
Not everyone's taste but where were Alfie Boe and Michael Ball or Take That (not just Gary Barlow).? Both British 'Treasures' and better than the American imports.
I am very aware that the concert was sold worldwide and perhaps that is the main reason for this.

An absolutely incredible coordination of music and lighting/visual effects.  The production, as a whole, should win an award.  I am 74 and so many of the artists were unknown to me but the general mood of celebration meant that I thoroughly enjoyed the whole spectacle.
