With Vini likely off, we only have Muniz, so I'd expect Muniz to start and maybe Broja to make a cheeky sub appearance. I can't imagine what starting Broja does to Muniz confidence.

totally agree..... start with muno to keep confidence alone.

Nothing against Muniz - but he doesn't deserve to keep his place.  If being dropped for a better player affects his confidence then he shouldn't be a professional footballer!

That said - it is unlikely Broja will start. However, I hope and expect he will play the second 45 mins.

True but he has to male an exception here . Broja is fit and the alternatives are few and far between. I'd rather take the risk of a striker not 'knowing all the calls' than others who do but have shown they can't find the net. (Plus he has to play 10 (is it). Why not start now. For all we know he and Jimenez playing the 10 role, might be a productive partnership

Are the stipulations he has to START 10 games or just play 10 games, would 10 sub appearances be enough?

Surely it must be START 10 games, otherwise you could take the mickey and just bring him on in the 89th minute to honour the agreement?!

Agreed, however I think we are desperate for goals, it's just if Marco feels the same.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

I'd like him to have the last 20 minutes on Saturday....can see Muniz starting

Chi_FFC

I'm almost certain he'll play, and think there's a decent chance he actually starts. I agree with those who've said that's not something Marco normally does but this seems to me like the rare scenario where Marco might make an exception. Raul is out and while Muniz tries hard, he just doesn't look like a PL quality player. Broja is fit, has been playing fairly regularly and obviously is familiar/comfortable with the Premier League. And finally he plays a position where I think it's a little easier to put someone out there who doesn't necessarily have a lot of familiarity with his teammates.

This Is interesting as he has already had a session with the team. Although looks a bit lost.

Then in that case, there's no reason why Marco shouldn't start him. If he does his usual thing of only starting a player a month or so after signing then 25% of those 16 games would also have been played. He has to start more than 50% of the matches which means it's a no-brainer that he starts at Turf Moor.

Bronaldinho

I wouldn't be surprised if he did start to be honest.

He's been playing regularly in that Chelsea side (only exception the other night where he stayed on the bench due to transfer).

So he's fit and ready to go, there's a clause to make sure we play him.

Vinicius to Galatasary, leaves us with Muniz in a much needed 3 pointer.

Don't think we lose anything by starting him tbh. Half ready Broja is better than Muniz.

As a centre forward he does need quite as much integration as say a centre back.  If it's up to me I would start him, Marco however may use him as a sub.  Also, who was that Spanish bloke with the big muscles in the video?

Sting of the North

All this talk about Broja having to start is only looking from a purely financial perspective. If he doesn't start enough, we just pay a little more. Marco will play the team he think gives us the best chance. Much more important than whether or not we pay a little more to Chelsea.

Actually it is looking at the alternatives to him not starting which is Muniz. Not sure the financial side comes into anybodies thinking at the moment.

You can see Willian trains to win

We have no choice but to start him,,,can always bring the dead beat on at anytime.

He only signed last night and now we see pictures of him training with us today when I would have thought the team would have been travelling to Burnley.

If it was up to me i would play him for the first 90 minutes plus.
Because the first 90 minutes plus are the most important.

Quote from: Nick Bateman on February 02, 2024, 01:40:45 PMConsidering the competition I would start him and mould him into our system. As a fall back we have Jiminez on the bench if he is struggling to adapt.
Do keep up Nick. Jiminez on the bench? With one fit leg?

Maybe I did not exactley explain my meaning but it was to was keep Muniz confidence up inferring that if he did do nothing during the game and then be replaced by Broja who could score (hopefully) is the kick up the proverbial so to speak and let him review his own situation.

Always delay your arrival in Burnley for as long as possible.
Ideal is to change on the plane and parachute the team in 5 minutes before k.o.
