The start of a Great Escape...

Very interesting video about the game, don't pull Ian St John's hair 😁...

Good stuff, plenty about what was happening with Fulham at the time (Trinder, Buckingham, Bottom of the table etc)

Oh happy days! 1966 and all that! My father attended without me as he was concerned about the scouser supporters.  However he gave me a blow by blow account when he got home.

Nice comment from John Dempsey.  Pity about his later career. https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2023/april/30/forever-fulham--john-dempsey/

Great video that brings back good memories.
Buckingham had some very good players at Fulham, Haynes, Cohen, Robson, Earl, Barret, Leggat to name but six but stepping in after the resignation of the popular Jezzard he failed to get the players behind him. History shows it was the start of the doldrem years for us.

My first ever Fulham game .Arsenal v west ham was called off due to rain so my dad took me to see the whites instead. After that we were hooked !!

I was there too. I always remember a great pic in the Sunday papers next day when Les Barrett beat Tommy Lawrence and the new Mitre Max ball's logo billowing the net. It was the start of an improbable escape but where would you rather be??

Thank you, really good memory, lots of detail that I didn't know. Mind you I was only 12 and only saw the pitch at half time the rest looking at people's backs and legs.

I was there too. Remember that punch on Pancho very well, and Ron Yeats raging over Steve Earle's handball (?) goal.

Modern games are a bit boring up against those in the days of fierce tackling and quagmire pitches.....

I remember it well, the knockout blow was close to where I was standing, down the front.  Had a good view of it.  I think the following season, Alan Clark scored 2 aginst Liverpool at the Hammersmith end. Memory faded, 2-2 I think.  Happy days.

I was there, always thought the first punch didn't connect and Pancho was play acting like they do these days. Not so sure after watching it again.Proper Great Escape.
