Is terrible! Why are some saying he be good for us? Arsenal fans hate him he has a big ego and quite simply isn't very good. Would far rather see Dembele Zamora and AJ in the white shirt than this cocky bum!

Whilst I see your point about him being cocky with a bit of an ego problem, there's no doubting he is a much better player than AJ. Arsenal fans underrate him and whilst he may not be a top 4 player he is a good player and still young.

Bendtner had Arsenal assistant boss Pat Rice in stitches as he even shocked a sports shrink during a psychology test on self-perceived competence.

French psychologist Jacques Crevoisier, a trusted expert who regularly works with Arsenal's players, carried out a series of psychometric tests to see if their brain power matched their football ability.

Crevoisier, in an interview with Swedish magazine Offside, said: "One of the categories is called 'self perceived competence,' i.e. how good the player himself thinks he is. On a scale up to 9, Bendtner got 10!

"We have never seen that before. Pat Rice was sitting next to me and couldn't stop laughing.

"When Bendtner misses a chance, he is always genuinely convinced that it wasn't his fault. You might say that's a problem, and to a certain degree it can be.

"But you can also view it as this guy has an remarkably ability to come back after setbacks."

Crevoisier has devised a series of up to 117 questions to analyse self belief, concentration levels and determination.

Arsene Wenger has known his fellow Frenchman for 40 years and Crevoisier - who specialises in working with young French players at the country's Clairefontaine academy - has worked at Arsenal to help their youngsters.

It is designed to ensure that Arsenal boss Wenger's players have the confidence to match their ability and, in Bendtner's case, that is something that is clearly not lacking.

I found the following letter from an Arsenal supporter on Football 365 -

"Ok picture this. A young English centre forward (6 foot 4 powerhouse) is coming through the ranks at a top four club, he goes out on loan to a championship side at the age of 18 and scores 12 goals in 40 league games and wins the clubs player of the season award.

He then returns to his parent club and starts playing as an impact sub, scoring some crucial goals. Aged 21 he is given a run of 15 games in the first team and scores 11 goals (including 2 last minute winners keeping his team in the title race) but doesn't have quite the same impact when playing as a lone striker against 3 of the other big four teams. He scores in the second leg against a European powerhouse in the Champions league, putting his team ahead in the tie, although they eventually go out.

He then spends a frustrating year niggled with injuries, only starting 3 league games, being inexplicably played on the wing putting in crosses for sub 6 footers and somehow he still manages to score crucial goals in the carling cup and FA cup, although he fluffs his chance in the champions league having only been on the pitch for 5 minutes.

Imagine what the papers would be saying about this kid. He'd be the next big thing, the saviour of England, and lets not forget that big, target man style centre forwards don't tend to blossom until their very late 20s (See Drogba). This kid would be an absolute superstar.

Now imagine he's Danish and his name is Nicklas Bendtner.

I'm just saying, he's not the clown people make him out to be."

sorry but that OP is ridiculous, he's not hated at all, just seen as not quite good enough for them. Though as the arsenal fan said, he barely played through the middle last season. Think he'd be a real asset for some mid-lower prem team, just not us

I think he's very underated. Yes hes his own biggest fan, and thinks hes better than he is. That doesnt mean he isnt a good player though, I'd defiantly take him here, could one day be a twenty goal-a-season man.

All great - I think he'd be brilliant for us. He'd be stepping on Zamora's toes, but perhaps we could sell Zamora to recoup some of the fee for Bendtner. We'd have a 23 year old up front who would improve and we could sell on at a profit instead of a 30 year who will inevitably decline and be worth increasingly less in the transfer market.

I'm glad that we're finally starting to get linked with players like N'Gog, de Nigris and Bendtner - out and out strikers with good hold up play who can cover for Bobby. In other words: Exactly what we need.
