They will learn not to over do the possession and keep ball. They will get better.

Quote from: jarv on August 31, 2024, 07:05:37 PMI know it is a negative comment and I always hope for a good Fulham performance. However, I am struggling to watch any premier league games now...  BORING  sideways and backwards tippy tappy football.  perhaps introduce no more passing backwards I know that sounds silly but the game needs a wake up call.  I just switched off w.ham v man city, awful football.  Not one decent tackle or defence splitting pass in 60 minutes of football.

As for the referees, dont get me started on them.  I played for many years and was a ref for over 10. What I see today is making me walk away from football and as for the ticket prices....eeek. I refuse to pay them to be bored to death.

I  know there will be many on here who think I am nuts, but having followed Fulham since 1960 I can only ask the questions, who is nuts enough to pay these prices today.  better watching your local non league team or even the park footballing lads.
I certainly don't think you're nuts jarv I'm thinking much the same on refs and more to the point who guides them and who they're answerable to . And I had a nice young lady from our club call me during the close season having smelt that I wanted to go back to the riverside despite the hike in costs , she said we've put a nice little package together for you ,use of a bar,2 cup games included , wait for it :-

£3250:00

From £465im paying now . I was speechless.
1975 just leaving home full of hope

Let us put the price to one side for the moment. In the old days we went to football by train and then the underground. Or drove miles and tried to find somewhere to park. We then went to the match and often left unhappy but spent the rest of the week either talking to our friends about football or thinking about football.

Nowadays the game is duller. The personalities less. The excitement has diminished. For me it started with International football and the lack of quality and interest. Plus the continued  poor running of the game and the little thought of the fans that actually spent time and money to go. It is no longer the event it was. The game as most other things has become superficial and a little dull and grubby. Still I want Fulham to win or do well and I am overly defensive about them.

The price of tickets? Well we have sat back while we have literally been robbed for everything from entertainment to Utilities to Governments. If a thief breaks into your car or home and finds easy pickings. Then they will come back again. We have been the easy victims  for so long. They just keep coming back.

So are we whingeing about here? Fulham not having a divine right to beat Ipswich or the state of the game in general?

I am confused.

Yep, you might as well throw your season ticket in the Thames and walk away now.  :Khan_you_fix_it:

Exactly, the title of the thread is really negative. Why bother even supporting Fulham to begin with, just because Fulham didn't beat Ipswich doesn't mean nothing. Anything could have happened in that game, it's a draw take it as it is. No reason to paint it this way.

Arsenal literally failed to beat us last season and finished 2nd.

Truly ridiculous reactionary post, especially following a win just a week ago. What a world

Going by the logic that all established Premier league teams will beat the newly promoted teams that would leave only 18 points maximum for those three teams to play for. The 3 teams that get relegated every season accumulate around 90 points each season.

Ipswich has the 2nd highest Net spend in this transfer window! So they are going down swinging (if they are going down.)

They did look better than all 3 promoted teams last season.

Sorry if I upset a few. I was feeling grumpy when I posted. The positive, it was an away point and with the signings we should do quite well.

Since returning to UK 2 years ago I am hoping to get to a few games each season. The frustrations make it difficult for me to plan.  Living in Scotland, dealing with the trains, a nightmare. Despite the disgusting tories gone, strikes could still be a problem.

However, I am planning, with my closest old friend who lives in Winchester, to get south for 2 or 3 games this season. He supports Saints so probably the best bet, looking forward to it. The benefits for those games, I can fly from Glasgow to Southampton, bus to Winchester,  no strikes to deal with and price is reasonable.

Yes, we have had a decent start which would have been even better had we not been robbed by manure with 3 minutes to go. Cairney was too kind, he should have taken the card to stop the lad on the half way line but it is not the Fulham way.

Londonfranky

I think that Ipswich will best of the promoted teams. Plus their season started with our game, defensively we're ok just a bit toothless going forward
