Raul double for Mexico

It's interesting, he doesn't normally take free kicks for us, but I feel he takes and has scored a few for Mexico.

Perhaps worth giving him a try with them?

Can't remember the time we scored from a free kick directly.

I'd really love to see him taking some for us. His record at scoring from penalties is second to none, so I'm not particularly surprised he's also good at free kicks!

Despite Pereira having a virtual monopoly on them and hitting the woodwork a handful of times I can't remember us scoring from a DFK in his time here.

I'd definitely be game to see Raul given a go

Kebano had a purple patch but since then?  Any??

Great FK in particular, and I'm all for rotating our FK taker as AP hasn't found the back of the net in a v long time. It's a shame Wilson's been injured, as some of his FKs were decent, but it seems sensible to give Raul a go.

Saying that, and not to take anything away from Raul, before we get too ahead of ourselves, the keeper is a pretty mid-level MLS keeper for Minnesota United and I'm not convinced Raul would have scored that goal against a better keeper...

Last FK goal for us was Willian v Leicester, but the last intentional FK goal for us you have to go all the way back to Joe Bryan v Brentford nearly five years ago.

Raul's scored a few of these lately for Mexico, would absolutely love to see him given the chance to take them for us.

Get him on free kicks now. Sorted the AP vs Raul penalty debacle which should never have even been up for debate. I think as above only one direct free kick scored in the prem from what I remember and that was a cross from Willian! AP's taken nearly all of the free kick shots. Unlucky with a few hitting the woodwork but generally doesn't look likely. Defo time to give Raul a run at them after two beautiful free kicks for Mexico. ::thumb::

100% agree, perhaps we're missing AP in training banging them in but it's gotta be time to give Raul those chances, just as he took over as penalty taker to great effect.

It's a Double Double for Raul with two more in the final including a 92nd minute penalty winner. I guess that saved him 30 minutes of extra time.

I guess that's earned him the starting spot this Saturday

Defo need him on at the end in case it goes to pens. I reckon with Muniz on good form as well Raul starts on the bench for this reason. If Muniz isn't performing bring Raul on fairly early second half.

The brilliant thing is if they can both keep up this kind of form we have at least got a good chance in all these huge and difficult games coming up.

Congratulations to him, superb news. I'd still start Muniz though. He's "fresher" as Raul is going to be a bit tired from the travel. And as others have mentioned, Raul is a better penalty taker, and I'd rather he took them then Muniz.

Also, Muniz is in slightly better form at club level.
