Muniz to have surgery

The Club can provide an update on Rodrigo Muniz's injury.

Rodrigo underwent scans and the Club sought specialist opinion following our game at Everton last weekend. He will have surgery to his hamstring over the coming days, and is expected to return to action early in the New Year.

Everyone at Fulham wishes Rodrigo all the very best for his surgery and during his rehabilitation.

The early Fulham and Sunderland team and injury news with four doubts and two ruled out
Sunderland travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the Premier League next Saturday

Fulham and Sunderland resume their Premier League campaign next Saturday at Craven Cottage.

While both bosses will be keeping a close eye on the fitness of their international stars during their break, here we bring you up to speed with all the early team news from both camps as we have it...

1. Omar Alderete - available
Alderete is expected to be available after coming through the concussion protocols which have forced him to miss a number of recent fixtures. Sunderland were hoping he could use the international break to top up his match fitness with Paraguay, but he might well be phased back in via the bench.

2. Rodrigo Muniz - major doubt
The striker had long returned from a hamstring issue when he experienced more discomfort after being introduced as a second-half substitute in Fulham's defeat to Everton. Severity not yet known but is a major doubt. With Raul Jimenez searching for full fitness after a recent injury of his own - it's not ideal for the hosts.

3. Antonee Robinson - major doubt
Had resumed part training before the international break after injury but did not link up with the US squad. Not yet back in full training ahead of the Everton game before the break, the left back remains a major doubt for this one.

4. Habib Diarra - out
Diarra suffered a groin injury in training last week and after undergoing surgery is expected to return some time in December- hopefully in time for the derby against Newcastle.

5. Romaine Mundle - doubt
Mundle suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury in training during pre-season. Is now very close to a return having resumed full training and though Sunderland will be cautious to avoid another setback, he could be in contention for some involvement.

6. Dennis Cirkin - available
Has resumed full training and stepped up his comeback with minutes in the U21s over recent games. With competition fierce he might have to wait to return to the squad but his return is massive for Sunderland ahead of Reinildo and Arthur Masuaku heading to AFCON next month.

7. Leo Hjelde - major doubt
Still recovering having required surgery on both of his achilles over the summer. Back training but not expected to be involved here.

8. Aji Alese - out
Returned to training having been absent since January, but a small setback means he's still not back in contention for the time being.

9. Marco Silva - doubt?
Following Fulham's relatively slow start to the campaign and with Silva's contract expiring next summer, there have been reports during the international break that his position is under review. Subsequent reports have stressed Fulham's desire to agree a new deal and so he seems likely to be in charge next weekend - but an interesting dynamic ahead of Sunderland's visit.

Rodrigo Muniz: Fulham dealt huge injury blow as star ruled out for weeks
Forward had only just returned from another spell on the sidelines

Rodrigo Muniz is set to be out until the new year with a hamstring injury.

Muniz, who will undergo surgery in the coming days, was withdrawn just 17 minutes after his introduction from the bench during Fulham's 2-0 defeat to Everton last weekend.

The Brazilian had only just returned from another hamstring issue, which saw him miss four games across September and October.

Muniz has injured the same leg, and the 24-year-old is now set to miss at least eight matches before the turn of the year, including the Cottagers' Carabao Cup quarter-final against Newcastle.

Fulham, who are contending with a mounting injury list, face three games in six days at the start of January, which Muniz is also likely to miss.

The striker's absence means Marco Silva has just two senior centre-forwards to pick from, with Raul Jimenez, who has only just returned from injury himself, and 18-year-old Jonah Kusi-Asare expected to step up.

Former Wolves star Jimenez has struggled for fitness and form this term, while Silva has publicly said teenager Kusi-Asare, signed on loan from Bayern Munich on Deadline Day, is not yet ready to start in the Premier League.

Fulham sit one point above the relegation zone and could enter the transfer market for a new striker in January, depending on the speed at which Muniz recovers from surgery.

Muniz enjoyed another productive campaign last season, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.

He had been expected to become Fulham's first-choice striker after a number of impressive cameo performances last year.

Marco Silva makes triple transfer demand to Fulham after dropping new contract ultimatum – Exclusive
Marco Silva is asking for significant backing in the transfer market ahead of a decision over signing a new contract at Fulham.

The Portuguese coach is the third-longest-serving manager in the Premier League right now, behind Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, having been appointed as Fulham coach back in July 2021. And having comfortably secured promotion in his first season at the club, he has helped establish Fulham back in the Premier League, leading them to impressive 13th and 11th placed finishes.

However, it is a different story this season, and with the Cottagers winning just three times in their 11 matches so far, they only sit a point clear of the relegation zone in a congested bottom half of the table.

That has led to speculation over his future; claims that have been thrust further into the spotlight with his current deal expiring next June and now close to entering its final six months.

However, before Silva commits to an extension, the 48-year-old has told the club he would like major backing in the January window to help pull the club clear of relegation trouble.

And we can reveal he has concerns in all three outfield areas of the pitch, and sources say he would want to see action in the transfer window before putting pen to paper on any new deal.

Fulham have struggled for goals this season, and Rodrigo Muniz is now sidelined with a hamstring problem that requires surgery.

He will be missing until the new year, leaving Raul Jimenez as their only recognised goalscorer – and he has only scored once this season.

Insiders say Fulham would prefer him to sign a new contract before they commit to any more substantial spending in the transfer market – with a belief that investing in the players required to upgrade their squad would cost upwards of £60million.

The situation is believed to be one of the reasons his future has come under scrutiny recently.

Sources close to Fulham insist there is no friction between the club's owners and Silva – despite what is reported elsewhere – but it can be expected that the approach to January's business helps determine how things play out.

If they significantly back him, Silva will likely stay.

But from the club, they want a commitment from the manager, before they sanction some hefty pieces of business on his say-so.

Fulham face an in-form Sunderland side at home next, followed by tough clashes against Tottenham (away), Manchester City (home), before facing Burnley (home) in a game they ought to be winning.

Man Utd could be about to copy the strategy Fulham used to make one of their best ever signings
Ruben Amorim may draw on his expertise in Portuguese football as his 2026 transfer plans for Manchester United take shape.

In 2026, Manchester United will aim to make further improvements to the squad that experienced heavy investment in the previous transfer window.

United signed five players, including Bryan Mbeumo, who has scored six goals since joining the club from Premier League outfit Brentford.

Despite signing five new players, United overlooked the midfield department, despite allowing Christian Eriksen to leave when his contract expired at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Another area of concern for United is the wing-back department.

On the right, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui have juggled responsibilities this term, but there is less safety on the left when Diogo Dalot plays.

Take nothing away from Patrick Dorgu, who is still learning the role at 21 years of age, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that Amorim may look at signing a new wing-back or two in the new year.

Man Utd could replicate Fulham strategy with Salvador Blopa transfer
Since Ruben Amorim arrived at United following a successful spell in Portugal with Sporting CP, the Red Devils have been linked with multiple players from the Lisbon-based outfit.

The first two players that were linked to United have since left – or agreed to leave – the Primeira Liga club, including Viktor Gyokeres and Geovany Quenda.

The other Sporting CP players linked with a switch to Old Trafford have been Goncalo Inacio and Morten Hjulmand, but Amorim isn't going to sign the entire team. All he needs to do is look at Manuel Ugarte's struggles in the Premier League, having previously starred under him in Portugal.

Fresh reports via the Daily Mail suggest United are tracking Sporting CP starlet Salvador Blopa, who could be a long-term answer to the right wing-back role.

Blopa made his first team debut for Sporting CP last month, scoring a brace in a 5-1 win over Alverca in the Taca de Liga.

However, a comparison could be drawn with Fulham signing Joao Palhinha from Sporting CP in 2022.

Palhinha was in the Sporting CP academy when Marco Silva was manager. The same applied to Blopa when Amorim was in charge of the reigning Portuguese champions.

While Silva never used Palhinha for Sporting, he already knew the midfielder was extremely talented, and kept him in mind after leaving the club – so much that he ended up signing him.

Amorim could do the same with Blopa, having potentially seen him play at youth level before he left for United.

Palhinha spent two years at Fulham before signing for Bayern Munich, but the Portugal international joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan this season.

Salvador Blopa waiting on second senior appearance
Blopa has only made one senior appearance for Sporting CP so far, playing 77 minutes in his debut against Alverca.

The 18-year-old couldn't have made a better first impression after scoring a brace, but he has yet to make another appearance for the first team.

That hasn't stopped United from showing an interest in the player.

It remains to be seen if United will make an approach for the youngster in January, or whether they will continue monitoring his development throughout the season.

Fulham player out of squad for Saturday match – Risk too far
Fulham's Joachim Andersen has been a regular for Denmark since 2021 and is part of the squad for November's international break.

Denmark face Belarus later today and Scotland next week in World Cup qualifiers.

Tipsbladet have a report on the Fulham player's omission from the list to face Belarus.

UEFA have announced the Denmark squad for today's clash and the 29-year-old has been left out.

According to the report, Denmark boss Brian Reimer has 24 players at his disposal. He has to drop at least one as there can be only 23 players in the squad. He's said to have dropped Andersen.

Tipsbladet indicates Reimer would have taken this step to avoid risk of losing the centre-to face Scotland.

The Fulham man would have missed the next clash had he picked up a yellow against Belarus.

Denmark are leading the group table, level on points with second placed Scotland. Greece are third with three points and Belarus are yet to pick up a point.

Reimer has seen his men beat Belarus 6-0 last month. Denmark seem to be optimistic of getting three points against the same opponent in Copenhagen.

Either way, Marc Silva and Fulham wouldn't have to worry about Andersen being left out of today's squad.

Fulham striker Muniz out until new year
Fulham have confirmed that striker Rodrigo Muniz will be sidelined until the new year with a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old Brazilian will undergo surgery in the coming days.

Muniz first injured his hamstring against Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup in September and he made his return off the bench against Wolves at the start of November.

However, having again come on as a substitute, he went off in the recent defeat at Everton after aggravating the injury.

Muniz recently signed a new long-term contract at Craven Cottage. Fulham rejected offers for him from Italian club Atalanta during the summer.

Fulham U21 3-0 Juventus U21
Fulham Under-21s returned to winning ways in the Premier League International Cup with a 3-0 thrashing of Juventus.

In a dominant display, Hayden Mullins' side were in complete control at half-time thanks to goals from Aaron Loupalo-Bi and Jayden Quashie.

Loupalo-Bi added another after the break, calmly rounding Juventus goalkeeper Matteo Fuscaldo before applying the finish, as we kept our qualification hopes alive.

Backed by a buoyant Motspur Park crowd, our Young Whites had a spring in their step from the start, as Quashie stung the palms of Fuscaldo.

And it didn't take too long for the deadlock to be broken. Tom Olyott burst into the box, beating a couple of players before producing a low cutback into the box – and after taking a touch to steady himself, Loupalo-Bi finished coolly past Fuscaldo with his right foot.

The striker could have had a quickfire double. Our Young Whites stole the ball with Juventus' left-sided centre-back high up the pitch, allowing Chibby Nwoko to thread a pass through to Loupalo-Bi, with Fuscaldo producing a fine save in a one-on-one situation.

It took until midway through the first-half for The Old Lady to register their first shot on goal, but Alfie McNally continued his solid week, palming away a Francesco Crapisto piledriver.

Logan Cooke hasn't had a bad week either – and was in the starting XI again for this one having made his full U21s debut in midweek. It was his excellent interception that stopped Leo Jean-Pierre Bamballi from getting Juventus back on level terms.

But Juventus' spell of control was only temporary as Quashie ensured we'd head into the break with a two-goal lead, rolling a shot into the bottom corner in stoppage-time.

This was a proper team performance – and Ollie Gofford was doing his upmost to preserve the clean sheet, making a heroic block to deny Gabriele Finochiaaro.

Our clinical edge was showing as Loupalo-Bi secured his brace. The striker showed great composure to take the ball round Fuscaldo before finishing into an empty net.

Mullins' side are next in action away at Aldershot Town in the National League Cup on Tuesday 25th November, 7pm kick-off.

Leeds United's Premier League rivals Fulham are considering sacking Marco Silva, and I'm sure you're thinking what I'm thinking.

Leeds have plenty of time to dwell on recent form over the international break. It leaves the 49ers weighing up the pros and cons of sacking Daniel Farke.

The German has a 1.00 points-per-game run, which he's keen to stress is enough over a season for survival, but faces a hugely challenging run of games where United's form could drop further.

That's according to a report from talkSPORT this week that shared how tensions behind the scenes at Craven Cottage could lead to the 48-year-old's dismissal.

Silva is said to be unhappy with how the summer window panned out. Meanwhile, results have dropped off significantly, as he stalls on a contract extension with the club.

The Cottagers are currently level on points with Leeds on an identical record of three wins, two draws and six losses. They snatched a fortunate win against United back in September through a Gabriel Gudmundsson own goal.

Leeds United must be looking to Marco Silva as perfect replacement for Daniel Farke
Silva and Farke could be the next managers out of the doors at Premier League clubs this winter. And for Leeds, Fulham's decision should be a massive benefit for two reasons.

Firstly, Silva's work as manager there is a major reason for how they've managed to steer clear of any relegation fears since promotion in 2022. Sacking him could be a massive mistake as they teeter over trouble.

Secondly, it frees up a manager who I think would be perfect for Leeds' current position. Silva has proven himself at Premier League level to be just the manager we need in the bottom half.

He's pragmatic, and has got consistent output of whatever striker he's equipped with at Fulham. Aleksandr Mitrovic, Raul Jimenez, Rodrigo Muniz and Carlos Vinicius have all enjoyed their best form under Silva.

Silva's ability to coach a relatively solid defence is also something United are going to need going forward. Being able to soak up pressure and sting teams when we get the ball going is vital.

Importantly, Silva has found a consistent balance between home and away form in the two seasons prior to this, sitting mid-table in both form tables. It's a stark contract to Leeds' current night-and-day performances at Elland Road and on their travels.
